Meanwhile, on the other side. Jin Taichu walked out of the appraisal arena and joined Yun Yinghui and the others. The group headed to General Yun’s training hall for the appraisal. Yun Yinghui opened one of the cheap boxes, and what caught his eye was… A source weapon with an outrageously flashy appearance.
A bright red underwear–wearing hero, a green dinosaur with a headband, and a ridiculously silly triceratops—heroes and monsters all assembled together in a single source weapon.
Everyone looked at the design and was momentarily speechless. Yun Yinghui’s eyelid twitched. He suddenly remembered Yun Yingzhi asking him earlier what kind of design he liked, and he thought… Was it this?
At that moment, he thought, this would’ve been better if it had just been a standard design. After a brief silence, Yun Yinghui continued opening the second box. Inside was… Red flowers, yellow flowers, an extravagantly flashy source weapon.
The group fell silent once again. After a short pause, someone in the team said, “I suddenly feel that the standard designs were actually pretty good.”
Jin Taichu said, “I remember when we watched the live broadcast, all the source weapons Yingzhi made had standard designs, right?”
Yun Yinghui’s eyelid twitched violently. He said, “A while ago, Zhizhi…,” he exhaled softly, then continued, “to show some sincerity, specifically made slight changes to the designs.”
Nangong Qing and the others thought to themselves: These were the kind of source weapon appearances that children under fifteen liked. In the near future, everyone on Yun Yinghui’s team might have one.
The image was… Well, a bit peculiar. One by one, they opened the boxes, took out all kinds of flashy source weapons, and began testing them. Different source weapons were suited to different esper soldiers.
The same source weapon had very low attack stats when Jin Taichu used it, but when Nangong Qing used it, the attack numbers were very high. Compared to the fourth-tier source weapon they appraised today, the twenty source weapons Yun Yingzhi made for Yun Yinghui were very balanced in all aspects—essential passive skills, amplification skills, defensive skills, attack skills… They were nearly flawless.
To them, these source weapons didn’t have the same wow factor as the fourth-tier source weapon. After all, chasing strength was instinct. But on closer thought, except for attack, these source weapons were actually superior to the fourth-tier one in nearly every aspect.
This must have been Yun Yingzhi’s trade-off when making them. There was one more thing that felt very strange. All twenty source weapons had the exact same imprint. Other imprints could clearly demonstrate skill effects during testing, but these twenty identical imprints, when activated, let them sense spatial fluctuations. As energy was input, the coverage of the esper expanded.
Clearly, it belonged to a spatial ability. But… How should they put it? They couldn’t sense the actual effect of this spatial ability at all. Within this limited spatial range, they couldn’t freely move or store objects. It seemed like a useless skill. Yet obviously, the twenty source weapons Yun Yingzhi made are all centered around this identical spatial ability.
After some appraisal, Nangong Qing and the others drew no conclusions. Jin Taichu looked at Yun Yinghui and said, “Yinghui, maybe you should ask Yingzhi?”
Yun Yinghui softly responded and contacted Yun Yingzhi. Yun Yingzhi quickly replied. Looking at Yingzhi’s message, Yun Yinghui froze, staring blankly. It wasn’t until Nangong Qing called his name several times that he snapped out of it. Nangong Qing asked, “Yinghui, what’s wrong?”
“Yun Yinghui paused, then said, “Zhizhi said it’s a spatial ability.”
Everyone knew that part. The problem was, even now, they didn’t know the exact effect of this skill.
In their confusion, Yun Yinghui continued, “This source weapon is mainly used in battles against the Zerg corps. Zhizhi said that the coverage of this spatial ability can block the Queen’s mental waves and sever the connection between the Zerg corps and the Queen.”
The entire arena fell completely silent. They knew better than anyone that the Zerg corps obeyed the Queen’s orders absolutely. No matter how far apart, nothing could sever the link between the Queen and her corps. It was a connection that could never be cut.
What was even more terrifying was that under the Queen’s mental wave, the Zerg corps could drastically increase their strength for a short period, even at the cost of death, and recklessly annihilate themselves along with their target. Their actions, without a doubt, would cause massive casualties. And now, Yun Yingzhi was telling them that this source weapon could sever the connection between the Queen and her Zerg corps.
This was a problem countless people had thought about but never solved. Yes, scientists had thought about it. Esper soldiers had thought about it. Source weapon makers had also pondered it. But… Yun Yingzhi said that the source weapons he made could accomplish this. After a brief silence, Jia Qingwan suddenly said, “I just thought of Stellar.”
Everyone looked at Jia Qingwan. Jia Qingwan said, “Stellar always made source weapons that others couldn’t make,” she paused, then continued, “like source weapons with passive skills.”
“…Stellar couldn’t have been Yingzhi. When Stellar first appeared, Yingzhi was still very young.”
“By calculation, Yingzhi would’ve been only eleven or twelve back then, right?”
Suddenly, Yun Yinghui received another private message from Yun Yingzhi. He looked at his personal terminal and saw this line of text:
Yun Yingzhi: Brother! Wait for me, I’ve recently been researching how to simulate the Queen’s mental waves so that the Zerg corps will destroy each other!
Yun Yinghui’s eyelid twitched. With this message from Yingzhi, a vision flashed in his mind: the Zerg corps, trapped within a limited spatial range, destroying each other ineffectively under false mental waves. He also remembered what people had said in the live stream during today’s source weapon appraisal.
For a long time, the barrage of comments insisted that the maker of that source weapon was cruel, ruthless, and merciless, truly a fearsome character. When he first saw those comments, he subtly felt they had offended Yun Yingzhi. In his mind, Yingzhi was a delicate, obedient little brother, yet… At that moment… Yun Yinghui, “….”
Even Yun Yinghui, looking at the private message from Yun Yingzhi, couldn’t help it. His pupils jolted, and he was deeply shaken. Nangong Qing and the others, who were discussing Stellar at the time, noticed Yun Yinghui’s unusual reaction and all turned their gazes toward him.
Yun Yinghui remained in shock. Jin Taichu asked, “Yinghui, what’s wrong?”
Yun Yinghui slowly came back to his senses. His lips twitched as he said, “Zhizhi just sent me a message.”
The others instantly became interested and pressed, “What did Zhizhi say this time?”
“He said he’s already researching how to simulate the Queen’s mental waves, so that the Zerg corps destroy each other under the imprint of those mental waves,” Yun Yinghui said.
Everyone there: “…” The whole area fell silent once again.
After a brief pause, Nangong Qing took a deep breath and said, “Yinghui, ask Zhizhi… is he Stellar?”
Yun Yinghui’s pupils shifted as he glanced at Nangong Qing, then typed a message and sent it to Yun Yingzhi.
Yun Yinghui: Zhizhi, are you Stellar? He soon received a reply.
Yun Yingzhi: ?
Yun Yingzhi: Brother, don’t you know? I am!! Brother, how could you not care about me enough to know?
Yun Yingzhi turned the tables, bombarding Yun Yinghui with a stream of messages, claiming he hadn’t known Stellar was his alias because Yun Yinghui didn’t care enough about him. Even through text, Yun Yinghui could feel Yun Yingzhi’s anger and grievance.
Yun Yinghui: “…” Was it really his fault? After a moment of speechlessness, Yun Yinghui’s eyelid twitched. He looked at everyone and said, “Zhizhi is.”
Jin Taichu: “Hmm?”
Yun Yinghui: “He’s Stellar.”
Everyone there: “…” It was just… too shocking. The person they had believed to be the empire’s most outstanding source weapon maker, the one who had even pioneered a new era of source weapons, turned out to be the pampered little brother they had watched grow up. It was astonishing.
After an unknown length of time, Yun Yinghui continued, “What I just said about these source weapons being able to block the Queen’s mental waves is a secret. Don’t let it out.”
Nangong Qing and the others each responded in acknowledgment. If the Queen ever learned about this, they wouldn’t be able to inflict maximum damage on the Zerg corps. For now, it had to remain confidential.
Yun Yinghui added, “I’m going to the military headquarters.”
Jin Taichu said, “I’ll go with you.”
Yun Yingzhi sank into thought. After the two little ones were born, would he really be able to go to school properly? Thinking further, compared to the humanoid Little Bun, the second-form Little Bun should be as obedient as he had been as a child—relatively easy to care for. The other Little Bun in egg form… he didn’t even know when it would hatch.
One little bunny and one little egg… that probably wouldn’t affect him much. At least, it wouldn’t affect his early life. With that in mind, Yun Yingzhi decided to take the incubator, formula, bottles, diapers, and all the other necessities back to Fansa Academy.
On the way, he remembered that Fansa Academy would have winter break at the end of December, giving a two-month holiday. Plus, there was the monthly open day when he had to go home. Thinking of this, Yun Yingzhi bought a duplicate set and secretly sent it back to the Yun household.
He now had two children. Until now, he still didn’t know how to tell Madam Yun and General Yun. Lacking the courage to speak the truth, he had to take things one step at a time. The one stroke of luck was that Yun Yinghui was by his side. After secretly moving the infant supplies into his room, Yun Yingzhi told the butler a brief word and returned to Fansa Academy.
The students at Fansa Academy were still actively discussing the matter of the Red Peony boy. Countless combat students even camped outside the source weapon manufacturing department, hoping to identify Red Peony’s true identity and ask him to make a source weapon for them.
Yun Yingzhi floated lightly back to the dormitory, where all three roommates were present. He greeted them, then placed the supplies he had purchased on the bed and the desk. Yu Feiwen looked at him with a puzzled gaze.
Ji Xiaobo asked, “Yingzhi, why did you buy an incubator?”
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid twitched. After a pause, he said, “In a few days, I want to hatch a little egg.”
Jing Haomiao asked, “And you bought a cage too?”
Yun Yingzhi said, “It’s not a cage. See, there’s no lid on top, and all four sides are fenced.” It was basically a mini crib.
Yu Feiwen asked, “Are you planning to raise a little pet?”
Yun Yingzhi blinked. Having no experience raising infants, he bought whatever caught his eye. When he heard Yu Feiwen’s question, he paused and said, “I want to raise a little bunny.” He couldn’t exactly say that he would personally give birth to a little bunny in a few days, so he added, “…the kind that’s just born.”
According to the doctor, the Little Bun born in its second form would take at least eight or nine months to transform into its humanoid form.
Yu Feiwen said, “A newborn bunny separated from its mother is hard to raise. Can you manage it?”
Yun Yingzhi originally thought he could handle it. Now, hearing Yu Feiwen’s words, he suddenly doubted himself. Newborns were extremely fragile; any small mistake could cause accidents. His two little ones—a bunny and an egg—were even more delicate than other infants. He thought for a moment. It was okay. He had his older brother. His older brother had acted as both dad and mom since he was little. There was nothing his brother couldn’t handle.
Yun Yingzhi, with full confidence from having an older brother, nodded seriously. “I think I can do it.”
Ji Xiaobo said, “Then we’ll help you when the time comes.”
The three of them looked at the incubator, then at the little pet bed, and finally at the new dad. They subtly felt that Yun Yingzhi might be a little out of his depth.
In the afternoon, Yun Yingzhi received a message from the Starshine Competition organizers. According to the rules of the Starshine Competition, the organizers would handle the auction of all source weapons in each match. They asked Yun Yingzhi whether he wanted to auction his.
Yun Yingzhi felt little bubbles of joy all around him and immediately agreed. The organizers told him that the ten source weapons would be appraised over three days, and the online and offline auctions would start on December 18. If he was interested, he could attend in person.
Soon after, the message ended, and Yun Yingzhi received another private message—from Yun Yinghui. Yun Yinghui told Yun Yingzhi that he had tested all twenty source weapons that Zhizhi had made for him and that he really liked them. After a brief pause, Yun Yinghui added, “Zhizhi.”
Yun Yingzhi’s eyes curved into a smile, and he covered his mouth with one hand, as if stifling a laugh. Seeing Yun Yingzhi like this, Yun Yinghui’s gaze softened even more. “Zhizhi, I’m stunned.”
Yun Yingzhi blinked in surprise and asked, “Stunned? Why?”
Yun Yinghui said, “Before testing these source weapons, I never imagined their effects would be this powerful.”
Yun Yingzhi lifted his chin slightly. “Soon I’ll make even more source weapons for you, Brother!”
Yun Yinghui nodded gently and added, “Zhizhi, do you realize how special the space-restriction source weapon you made is?”
Yun Yingzhi nodded, then shook his head slightly. Yun Yinghui explained, “Before you, the empire had long been researching how to sever the connection between the Queen and the Zerg corps. Zhizhi, everywhere you’ve seen, and even more places you haven’t, there could be a Zerg. They are the Queen’s eyes. Through them, the Queen knows everything.”
Yun Yingzhi blinked; he didn’t fully understand all of this. Yun Yinghui continued, “The source weapon you made, if the imprint’s range were expanded to cover an entire life-bearing planet, could sever the link between the Queen and all the Zerg on that planet. Do you understand its importance now?”
Yun Yingzhi nodded, suddenly realizing that the imprint he had researched on a whim was far more powerful than he had imagined. Yun Yinghui said, “Zhizhi, thank you for the gift you sent me.” He added, “Even more, thank you as Stellar for all the source weapons you’ve researched over the years.”
“Brother, I’m glad you like them, but I think I should explain something,” Yun Yingzhi said.
“Hmm?” Yun Yinghui prompted. Yun Yingzhi looked serious. “Past, present, future… the reason I work so hard is because you’re a soldier, Brother. I want to help you!”
His meaning was clear: the only reason he did all this was for Yun Yinghui, for him alone. Yun Yinghui’s eyelashes trembled. Looking at Yun Yingzhi on the other end of the line, he thought: this was his favorite little brother. He spoiled him, and the spoiled little brother always tried to return the favor in his own way. After talking for a while longer, Yun Yinghui said, “Zhizhi, I want you to keep this skill’s effects secret for now. Don’t tell anyone else.”
Yun Yingzhi nodded, thinking it wasn’t a problem.
“Zhizhi, the military has another request.”
Yun Yingzhi’s gaze turned curious. “What is it?”
“They want you to hand over the imprint method for the spatial-limited ability. The Imprint Research Institute wants to optimize it.”
Yun Yingzhi’s first reaction was to agree. But then, blinking his large dark eyes, he looked at Yun Yinghui expectantly.
“Hmm?” Yun Yinghui asked. Yun Yingzhi’s cheeks turned slightly red. “Brother, I can agree to what you said, and according to what you said, I can even help with the imprinting,” he said, holding up one finger. “But… I might have a tiny, really tiny request.” His cheeks reddened further. Yun Yinghui’s eyelid twitched, a subtle premonition forming. “What?” he asked.
Suddenly, Yun Yingzhi shouted, “Daddy!”
“…” Yun Yinghui knew him too well. He understood that this ‘Daddy’ wasn’t General Yun—it was him. Yun Yingzhi thought: he hadn’t called him Daddy in a long time since he had grown a bit. Yun Yinghui responded softly, “Good boy.” His eyelid twitched again.
Yun Yingzhi’s big eyes fluttered, looking especially adorable. “Mommy!”
Yun Yinghui paused for a moment, then said, “Zhizhi, you’re not little anymore.”
Yun Yingzhi’s body swayed, looking fragile, as if he could collapse at any moment. Yun Yinghui’s mouth twitched. “Zhizhi, be good.”
Immediately, Yun Yingzhi steadied himself, eyes full of expectation. “Brother, I don’t think I can take care of two babies on my own.”
Yun Yinghui thought the same. He had already planned that after he left, Nangong Qing and the others would help Yun Yingzhi care for the two babies, so he wouldn’t get too exhausted. Then Yun Yingzhi said, “Brother, can I use this imprint to trade for a year of your leave?”
Yun Yinghui froze, not immediately understanding what Yun Yingzhi meant. Yun Yingzhi continued, “Two babies—one little bunny, one little egg. They’re both so small and fragile. I’m worried I won’t take care of them properly. I’m afraid they’re too weak and that they might be mistreated.”
In Yun Yinghui’s mind, he immediately recalled the sixth skill of the fourth-tier source weapon, the Heaven-Splitting Sword, and the virtual sword domain from today’s live appraisal. He also remembered Yun Yingzhi telling him that he had to create a source weapon capable of simulating the Queen’s mental waves to make the Zerg corps destroy each other.
According to some people on StarNet, Yun Yingzhi was either thinking about destroying his enemies or running full speed down the path toward their destruction. Now he felt that while Yun Yingzhi’s body might be fragile, his mind was far from it.
Yun Yingzhi knew his request was shameless, but for the chance to spend more time with Yun Yinghui, and for the two fragile little ones about to be born, he steadfastly voiced his demand: “As long as Brother can extend his leave to a year, I’ll not only hand over the imprint, I’ll also help optimize it!”
Yun Yinghui let out a quiet sigh. “I’ll try to apply for it.”
After they ended the communication, Yun Yingzhi opened the design interface. He wondered: if he could successfully optimize the spatial-limited esper, would Brother be able to stay by his side longer? With that thought, he wracked his brain trying to figure out how to optimize it.
Meanwhile, the source weapons from the Starshine Competition preliminaries continued to be appraised. According to the rules, four source weapons would be appraised on the first day, four on the second, and the final two on the third.
Undoubtedly, the last two were theoretically the grand finale of the preliminaries. But after seeing the fourth-tier source weapon Yun Yingzhi had created, everyone thought it would be extremely difficult for any other preliminary source weapon to surpass his.
By December 17, all ten source weapons had been appraised. As expected, the other nine seventh-tier source weapons were far inferior to the fourth-tier source weapon Yun Yingzhi had made in nearly every aspect. The Starshine Competition auction would begin online and offline on December 18.
At the same time, Yun Yingzhi had to go to the hospital. He put on a mask and left Fansa Academy openly. Yun Yinghui contacted him and asked him to wait; he would accompany him. Yun Yingzhi, still holding a shred of modesty, didn’t want Yun Yinghui to come with him to the obstetrics department unless absolutely necessary.
He took the levitating car alone to the hospital, and the conclusion remained the same: barring any unexpected complications, the two little ones would be born by the end of the month. The two little ones squirmed restlessly inside Yun Yingzhi’s belly. He touched his stomach, and as if responding to his touch, the little ones moved even more.
Yun Yingzhi quickly withdrew his hand, and sure enough, the movements of the little ones lessened. After saying goodbye to the doctor, Yun Yingzhi stepped out of the consultation room. At that moment, his pupils constricted sharply as his gaze met that of Lady Huai.
Clearly, she had come accompanied by another woman. Yun Yingzhi recognized her—she was Huai Boshe’s cousin. His brows furrowed, and many thoughts flashed through his mind. Lady Huai had never liked him, not even in the past. Compared to her, she seemed to favor Yun Yingyao, even intentionally trying to match Huai Boshe with Yun Yingyao.
From a short distance, their eyes met. Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid twitched as his steps faltered. Instinctively, he wanted to run. But before he could move, Lady Huai called out his name first. “Yingzhi.”
Yun Yingzhi froze, his eyelashes trembling. He didn’t dare look Lady Huai in the eye. In a daze, he recalled the distant past. He was very small then. He went to visit the Huai family with Yun Yingyao and played with Huai Boshe. The children were supposed to take a nap, so the three of them went to separate rooms. Yun Yingzhi couldn’t sleep. He lay on the bed for a while and decided to find Huai Boshe, but overheard a conversation between Lady Huai and Huai Boshe.
Lady Huai asked, “A’She, do you like A’Yao?”
Huai Boshe said, “Yingzhi is very good-looking,” answering off-topic.
Lady Huai’s face held a gentle smile. “But A’She, looks aren’t everything. You can’t just judge by appearance.”
Huai Boshe asked, “Mother, what should I do?”
“You have to look at his character and talent,” she replied.
“Yingzhi is good,” Huai Boshe said.
Lady Huai gently stroked Huai Boshe’s head. “A’She, do you really think Zhizhi is better?”
Before Huai Boshe could respond, she added, “A’She, take another look at A’Yao, hmm?”
Young Yun Yingzhi didn’t really understand the conversation, but he felt very hurt. That day, he not only missed his nap, he couldn’t sleep that night either. From that moment, Yun Yingzhi disliked Lady Huai.
Lady Huai walked lightly toward Yun Yingzhi. “Yingzhi, why are you here?” she asked.
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid twitched violently. He didn’t know what to say.
Just as he felt suffocated, a staff member approached him, smiling. “Mr. Yun, the two babies need a lot of nutrition. For their sake, you must take your medication on time.”
Yun Yingzhi: “…”
Lady Huai: “…”
Lady Huai silently looked toward Yun Yingzhi’s belly. Yun Yingzhi felt extremely embarrassed. At that moment, he wished the Little Bun with the spatial ability inside him could transport him through space, but today it didn’t. He could only flee on his own two legs. His heart raced. He was… very scared.
Lady Huai’s relationship with Madam Yun was relatively good. He feared she would tell his mother everything. At that thought, Yun Yingzhi received a message from Madam Yun. He didn’t want to answer, but he dared not ignore it. All his life, he had feared Madam Yun—more deeply than he feared General Yun. Taking a deep breath, Yun Yingzhi connected the call.
The moment the connection was established, he saw Madam Yun—and… The background. It was his room. Madam Yun was now in his room, holding the tiny baby bottle Yun Yingzhi had bought for the little bunny. Yun Yingzhi’s eyelashes trembled; tears clung to them, making him look extremely fragile.
Madam Yun glared at him. “Yun Yingzhi, the things I asked you to do before… you still haven’t done them.”
Yun Yingzhi flinched. He wanted to speak but didn’t dare. He lowered his head. Even through the projection screen, he didn’t dare face Madam Yun directly.
Madam Yun said, “Yun Yingzhi, lift your head.”
His lips trembled. At her command, he lifted his head—and saw that she had crushed the tiny bottle he had bought for the little bunny. Yun Yingzhi bit his lip, unable to speak.
“Yun Yingzhi, I forbade you from touching source weapon manufacturing. I had you enter the combat department. I told you countless times not to become a disgrace to the Yun family,” Madam Yun said.
Yun Yingzhi said, “Mother, bu-but…”
Madam Yun cut him off. “You’re pregnant.”
Yun Yingzhi: “…” His face turned pale. He dared not say a word.
Madam Yun said, “You are a man, a military academy student—and yet you’re pregnant.”
Yun Yingzhi couldn’t refute it. There was no arguing. It was the truth. Madam Yun’s lips curved slightly. Though she was smiling, it was colder than ice. “From now on, Yun Yingzhi, you are no longer a child of the Yun family.”
Yun Yingzhi’s eyes widened, his pupils constricted violently, and tears streamed down his cheeks. He wanted to say he didn’t want this, but in front of Madam Yun, he couldn’t even bring himself to speak the words of refusal.
Madam Yun continued, “Your brother, your sister—they both have bright futures. Your existence will tarnish the reputation of General Yun’s household. Yun Yingzhi, I hope you take care of yourself from now on.”
Yun Yingzhi’s body shook, tears still flowing. He wanted to call out “Mother,” but he didn’t dare. At the very end of the call, he heard Madam Yun say, “Throw all of Yun Yingzhi’s belongings out,” before she hung up.
Yun Yingzhi stood there in a daze, then started to move forward, wanting to rush back. His things—those were his things, his memories from childhood. Gifts from his brother, gifts from Master Alvin, gifts from friends—they weren’t necessarily expensive, but every item carried memories worth cherishing.
He didn’t realize that at this moment, he was already crying uncontrollably. At the same time, his abdomen tightened sharply. He needed to return to General Yun’s residence. He had to go back.
Suddenly, a figure blocked his path. Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid twitched as he looked up slightly. It was Yun Yinghui. Yun Yinghui cupped Yun Yingzhi’s face in his hands, removed his mask, and gently wiped away the tears on his cheeks. “Zhizhi, what’s wrong?” he asked.
Yun Yingzhi said, “Brother… Brother…” His face was pale, beads of sweat formed on his forehead, and he seemed to be enduring pain. Without hesitation, Yun Yinghui scooped Yun Yingzhi up in a horizontal hold and quickly headed toward the hospital exit.
Yun Yingzhi struggled a little. “Brother… Mother… Mother doesn’t want me anymore… she wants to throw all my things away… Brother, I…”
Yun Yinghui’s steps faltered. Their eyes met. In the gentlest voice, Yun Yinghui said, “It’s okay.”
Yun Yingzhi looked at him, bewildered. Yun Yinghui said, “I’m here. Brother wants you.”
Yun Yingzhi: “….” He clutched Yun Yinghui tightly, no longer struggling. Yun Yinghui soothed him softly, “It’s okay. Brother will leave with you, Zhizhi, alright?”
Hearing this, Yun Yingzhi’s tears flowed even harder. He sobbed and wept uncontrollably. “Brother… sniffle…”
“Yes,” Yun Yinghui replied gently.
“Daddy… sniffle…”
“Yes.”
“Mommy… sniffle…” Yun Yinghui paused. Whether it was his imagination or not, he felt Yun Yingzhi sounded even more pitiful now. He responded softly, “Yes.”
Yun Yinghui carried Yun Yingzhi upstairs. Yun Yingzhi sobbed in fits, his heart aching so much it made his abdomen hurt too. The doctor looked at him with a complex expression. “Mr. Yun, you’re about to give birth.”
The shock was so great that Yun Yingzhi momentarily forgot the pain, staring blankly at the doctor.
“Let’s go—to the delivery room,” the doctor said. Yun Yingzhi hesitated, looking toward Yun Yinghui. Yun Yinghui furrowed his brows deeply. Even so, he didn’t want to scare Yun Yingzhi further. He asked softly, “What’s wrong, Zhizhi?”
Yun Yingzhi: “….” He hesitated. He wasn’t sure whether he should keep crying, or shout out in pain, to express just how heartbroken and shocked he felt at this moment.
