Chapter 47: Extra 1 (Moving Again)

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

The day the college entrance exam results came out, Zhou Kai was entering data into a computer at the supermarket where he was working part-time. He had found this job right after the exam ended. Initially, the boss was reluctant to hire him, as he was a student who would likely quit after a couple of months. However, the boss’s father, a seemingly seventy-year-old man, stopped Zhou Kai when he was about to leave.

After a short chat, the old man, upon hearing that Zhou Kai had just finished the college entrance exam and wanted to earn some tuition fees, exclaimed and gave Zhou Kai a thumbs up. He turned to his son and said, “Look at this kid, so sensible! Nowadays, there are really not many kids who are willing to work hard. I say, just let him try it out. If it doesn’t work out, we can find someone else. It’s not like we’re short of a day or two.”

Seeing that the old man was speaking up for him, Zhou Kai’s eyes lit up. He looked up at the boss and smiled expectantly.

The boss, giving face to his father, also smiled and asked Zhou Kai a few more questions before agreeing to give him a try.

As a result of this try, Zhou Kai had been working here until today.

When his phone rang, Zhou Kai only managed to answer it and put it on speakerphone before continuing to look at the data.

Zhou Kai’s father heard the clicking of the keyboard and coughed, then couldn’t help but laugh. He asked Zhou Kai, “Son, what do you want? A new phone or a computer? Dad will buy it for you!”

After entering a line of data, Zhou Kai’s gaze immediately shifted to the date in the lower right corner of the computer screen. Combined with his father’s joyful words, he realized that today was the day to check the results.

How should he say it? He had completely forgotten about it in the hustle and bustle.

Hanging up the phone and turning off the speaker, Zhou Kai was still a little nervous. He asked his father, “Dad, did you check for me? How many points did I get?”

After the exam, he had put his admission ticket in the drawer of the TV cabinet at home, and his parents knew about it. Zhou Kai didn’t blame his father for taking the initiative to check his results for him, as it would take him three or four hours to go back.

Zhou Kai’s father laughed happily and said with great pride, “You’ve surpassed the first-tier line by thirty-one points!”

Zhou Kai was stunned. This score… was indeed as he had expected, an extraordinary performance.

“Son, I’m so happy for you!” Zhou Kai’s father’s laughter continued, and he asked, “So, is there anything you want to buy or anything you want? Just tell Dad, and Dad will buy it for you.”

Rubbing his nose and his sore eyes, Zhou Kai sighed silently and smiled lightly, saying, “No need, Dad, I… I don’t lack anything.”

He really didn’t lack anything, he just wanted to earn money, and he wanted to earn a lot of money.

But earning money was not so easy.

Around five o’clock in the afternoon, He Ye rode his bicycle to the front door of the supermarket. As soon as Zhou Kai turned his head and saw him, he didn’t even wait for the computer to shut down. He gathered his papers and notebook and put them in the drawer, grabbed his backpack, and left.

The three saleswomen in the store were a few years older than Zhou Kai and He Ye. As soon as they saw He Ye appear, they all looked inside. Zhou Kai got up, met their smiling faces, and felt a little embarrassed. As usual, he smiled at them and said, “My friend is here to find me. I’ll go first. Bye, see you tomorrow.”

“Okay, see you tomorrow.”

“Be careful on the road.”

“Bye.”

As Zhou Kai walked quickly past the three of them, he sometimes couldn’t help but wonder if his relationship with He Ye had been discovered by them, otherwise, why were the smiles on their faces so… so ambiguous?

Sitting on the back seat of the bicycle, Zhou Kai reached out and pushed He Ye’s lower back, lowering his voice and saying, “Go quickly. There’s no one around, so ride faster, and slow down after we turn the corner.”

He Ye turned to look at him and, according to his command, rode the bike away, holding back his laughter and asking, “Did you calculate something wrong? You’re in such a hurry?”

Secretly turning his head to look back at the store entrance, Zhou Kai grabbed He Ye’s clothes and snorted, “Nonsense, do I look like someone who is careless and would make calculation mistakes?”

He Ye raised an eyebrow, “Even the best can make mistakes.”

Zhou Kai scoffed. His eyeballs rolled around, and after his eyes adjusted to the discomfort of staring at the computer for too long, he rested his forehead on He Ye’s back and ran his fingers along his spine, mumbling in a low voice with a low mood, “Five hundred and eighty… is your boyfriend very amazing?”

On a hot day with basically no wind, He Ye heard Zhou Kai’s words clearly. He was startled, then burst into laughter, a proud laughter as if he himself had scored such a high score. He patted the handlebars excitedly, “Amazing, so amazing. Your boyfriend is truly cheering for you!”

Hearing this, the corners of Zhou Kai’s mouth curled up for a moment before drooping again. He wanted to ask He Ye how many points he got, but he knew He Ye definitely hadn’t checked.

Sighing, Zhou Kai closed his eyes and stopped thinking about the college entrance exam results that didn’t mean much. He hummed the song “Sunshine Always Follows Rain” in a low voice, a song he had sung for He Ye and a song they had sung together.

Humming softly, Zhou Kai’s hand trailed down He Ye’s spine, his fingers finding their way beneath the fabric of He Ye’s shirt. The heat of He Ye’s skin beneath his touch sent a shiver down Zhou Kai’s spine. He couldn’t resist the urge to brush his fingertips against He Ye’s damp skin, his heart pounding in his chest.

He Ye’s waist twitched when Zhou Kai touched him, and he immediately pressed the brakes, his long legs landing on the ground, stopping the bicycle. He turned around and stared at Zhou Kai, whose hand was still hidden in his shirt, and a small flame called “desire” quickly ignited in his eyes.

Zhou Kai also looked at He Ye, feeling his own body getting hotter and hotter. Finally, he couldn’t bear it anymore and lowered his head, raised his hand to push He Ye’s face, then retracted it and fanned himself, whispering, “Don’t look… You don’t have time anyway, who’s going to put out the fire if you get it started…”

The old residential area was demolished last month and a construction site was fenced off. There was no one on the small road, which was perfect for doing something.

He Ye grabbed Zhou Kai’s hand that was pushing him to his lips, gave it a loud smack and then licked it with the tip of his tongue, suppressing his voice and laughing, low and seductive, “Knowing that you don’t have time, you still tease me, you’re asking for it, aren’t you?”

Zhou Kai’s hand retracted as if it had been electrocuted, he clenched it into a fist and hid it in his unzipped backpack, snorted and looked at He Ye with slanted eyes, and lazily mumbled, “I am quite asking for it, so what? You don’t have time, so what can you do to me?”

He Ye gritted his teeth and looked at Zhou Kai’s flirtatious little eyes, he was really on fire. For more than twenty days, he and Zhou Kai had only occasionally hidden in a corner with no one around and kissed. They hadn’t done anything else. What could he do? He had to work during the day and at night, and He Ye couldn’t find the time to “put out the fire” with Zhou Kai, so he could only try his best to suppress it.

But it was okay before he tasted the sweetness, but after he tasted it, it was too torturous. He Ye, who said he didn’t want it, would want it even more. And, worst of all, Zhou Kai was just teasing him, teasing him all the time. As long as they were together, Zhou Kai had to tease him. A goblin, a goblin straight out of his dreams.

Fortunately, this goblin only teased him, and only him. Even though he was so poor that he was jingling with coins and owed a lot of debts, and his future was uncertain, Zhou Kai still recognized him, made him sink, and couldn’t escape.

He Ye looked at Zhou Kai, trying to suppress his lust. He didn’t know how many times he had swallowed his saliva dryly, and the movement of his protruding Adam’s apple made Zhou Kai’s ears turn red. He raised his hand to cover his eyes, not daring to look, and hummed softly, “Damn it, don’t look, don’t look, and don’t think about it, don’t think about it…”

He Ye stared at him, watching his mouth open and close, listening to his muttering, and for a moment, he couldn’t help himself. He raised his hand and touched Zhou Kai’s nape. Zhou Kai’s body trembled, and his eyes opened wide. Seeing He Ye tilt his head and come closer, ready to kiss him, he raised his hand and covered He Ye’s mouth, turned his head and looked around.

Seeing no one passing by, he retracted his hand and looked at He Ye, saying in a muffled voice, “You’re so naughty, flirting in the street.”

He Ye sighed a little resentfully, unable to kiss him. He kept his head tilted and looked at Zhou Kai’s watery eyes, the corners of his mouth curved up and said, “Let’s find a corner where no one will see us, I want to kiss you. I don’t have time to do anything else, but I still have time to kiss you.”

As soon as He Ye finished speaking, Zhou Kai’s face and neck turned red. He raised his foot and kicked He Ye’s leg, pushed He Ye with his hand to make him turn around, and laughed angrily and happily, “Damn it, who’s seducing who?”

He Ye laughed so hard his shoulders shook. Zhou Kai hammered his shoulder, not using much force, and rested his forehead on his back, stifling his laughter and urging him, “Hurry up, we’ve wasted so much time.”

He Ye rode the bicycle forward and replied, “This is not wasting time, we call this flirting, it counts as dating.”

Zhou Kai rubbed his burning ears, his stomach ached from holding back his laughter, and he exhaled softly. Flirting, my ass, He Ye really dared to say anything, he was a complete hooligan. But he liked He Ye like this, not worrying, not regretting, not fearing, a lively, hardworking, and emotional He Ye.

He Zhou Kai liked He Ye like this, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with He Ye like this, even if there were difficulties ahead, he would not let go of He Ye’s hand that reached out to him.
