Chapter 15: Crack

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

After those inorganic golden eyes looked at him silently for a while, the eyelashes rustled and fluttered, and the eyes dropped as if in acquiescence. His waist was clasped and embraced, and his lips and tongue, which had just been rubbed together, were once again invaded.

Lyss dropped his eyes and let the other person embrace him and deepen the kiss. His stamina was excellent and no sounds escaped, only that pair of white wolf ears in the top of the head were slightly trembling.

After the kiss, Lyss lifted the back of his hand and gently wiped his kissed reddened lips, he casually picked up his jacket, the metal charms overlapped and made a crisp ringing sound.

With just a glance, Lyss knew that his coat couldn’t be worn again. So, in his usual manner, he ordered, “Bring me a change of clothes.”

Lu Xingye, who had just been immersed in their ambiguous atmosphere, even felt like he had gained a slight advantage. But when he heard Lyss’s overly assertive command, he hesitated for a moment. Then, a strange feeling arose—it almost felt like he was a special servant who had been discarded by Lyss after being used.

Lu Xingye fell silent for a moment but followed Lyss’s suggestion, putting on clothes and leaving the lounge.

Sitting on the bed, Lyss picked up the miniature transmitter, lost in thought for a while. His intuition told him that there was more to Sheng Dan’s actions this time than just the military’s involvement. Lu Xingye quickly returned with the clothes, but his expression was somewhat serious.

Lyss asked, “What’s wrong?”

“When I was out, I ran into a Sheng Dan official. He looked like he was drunk, staggering around, almost entering the adjacent room.” Lu Xingye helped Lyss put on the clothes naturally. “But I remember clearly he wasn’t drinking. Our assumptions might be off; they’ve already started their operation.”

Lyss had never been helped to dress before, feeling a bit stunned. It wasn’t until Lu Xingye raised his hand from behind to help him put on the clothes that he came back to his senses. “You don’t need to worry about me; go out and keep an eye on them now.”

“I’d like to, but you’ve arranged guards everywhere.” Lu Xingye buttoned up Lyss’s clothes and then lowered his voice. “As a mere secretary with little influence, they’ll stop me in my tracks. They won’t listen to my explanations.”

Lu Xingye was too close; the previous kiss had been a transaction for Lyss, so he felt no discomfort. But the current intimacy made him uneasy.

As if to evade Lu Xingye’s actions, Lyss moved back slightly, then picked up a badge from the side and handed it to Lu Xingye. “Take this and say it’s my order.”

Lu Xingye paused, taking the badge with a cryptic expression. “Chief, aren’t you afraid of what your subordinates might say?”

“They’re from different departments, not under my direct command.” Lyss answered indirectly, getting up from the bed. “Time is short; we’ll talk more tonight.”

As if the recent events hadn’t happened at all, Lyss remained unaffected, not bringing up the matter again. His attitude remained as usual.

Lu Xingye’s eyes flickered; he seemed like he wanted to say something, but after a moment, he swallowed his words for the time being, showing a smile. “Alright, let’s talk tonight.”

The clingy and lively young alpha finally left with the badge. The door closed gently, making a soft sound. Lyss withdrew his gaze from the door, looking down at his hand. After a while, he gently touched his slightly swollen lips, his eyes flickering, thoughts unknown.

At two thirty, various personnel began entering the meeting room. Triss’s people hadn’t drunk much and immediately noticed that their chief was wearing different clothes from noon. Coupled with Lu Xingye’s behavior during lunch, everyone displayed subtle expressions.

Lyss took the lead in taking a seat, unconcerned about the opinions of others. It wasn’t until later that Sheng Dan’s delegation members began to enter one after another. Most of them still seemed half-asleep and drunk, with only a few appearing sober, unlike their wobbly states at noon.

Not thinking much of it, everyone assumed they had an exceptional ability to sober up quickly. Lyss had a certain suspicion. Despite the small number, surviving after offending the Empire and Serica suggested that Sheng Dan’s strength and objectives were far beyond mere appearances.

Lyss’s intuition proved right.

The first half of the meeting progressed smoothly, discussing matters of trade and military negotiations. Unexpectedly for Triss’s side, whether due to excessive drinking or poor negotiation skills, Sheng Dan’s diplomats hardly managed to secure any trade privileges or sign any military agreements.

Many Triss officials were somewhat relieved, except for Lyss, who furrowed his brows—something was off. Even if the Xuan Little People were rare, surviving after provoking the Empire and Serica meant that Sheng Dan’s capabilities and intentions were definitely more than met the eye.

The first half of the meeting smoothly approached its conclusion. Due to the overly smooth progress and their side gaining more benefits than expected, most of Triss’s people began to relax.

As they were discussing trade and military matters, Feng Man seemed to casually bring up, “There’s actually a small matter I’d like to ask your country about.”

Lyss opened his half-closed eyes, looking directly at the other. “What matter?”

“I heard your country’s database contains information about the Chudai System.” Feng Man didn’t meet Lyss’s gaze but turned to Triss’s Minister of Information. “I wonder if the Minister could let us read that part of the data?”

“The Chudai System?” The Minister of Information was puzzled but continued, “It was permanently eliminated at the hand of its creator because it incited an artificial intelligence rebellion, as is widely known. What data do you need?”

“To be honest, our Sheng Dan Union’s founder had some connection to the Chudai.” Feng Man was sincere. “It’s almost the three hundredth anniversary of her passing away. As her children, we want to learn more about her. If possible, we’re willing to exchange anything we can afford.”

The founder of the Sheng Dan Union was a great Beta woman. Sheng Dan people generally referred to her as “Mother” and themselves as her children.

The interstellar officials all knew the significance of “Mother” to Sheng Dan. The Minister of Information didn’t think much of it after hearing this and waved his hand to be magnanimous. “It’s merely an AI that’s been destroyed. Its data is useless to us. Based on our friendship, there’s no need…”

“The first half’s time seems to be up,” Lyss suddenly interrupted.

Both sides engaged in the conversation were startled. But with no one else entering, one of Sheng Dan’s diplomats furrowed his brow, “Chief, did you misremember the time? The bell doesn’t seem to have rung…”

As soon as the words were spoken, the bell signaling the end of the first half rang.

Without saying anything else, Lyss stood up from his position while casting a cold glance at the Minister of Information, who instantly changed his expression, realizing he had been too careless.

Disregarding the thoughts of the people behind him, Lyss lifted his feet and walked to his lounge. He didn’t encounter anyone except for Lu Xingye on the way.

Sensing something amiss, when Lyss reached the door of his lounge, a faint fragrance wafted out. He frowned slightly, staring at the closed door for a moment without moving.

After a moment, even with the patrolling guards looking puzzled, Lyss pushed the door and walked in.

As expected, Lu Xingye was inside, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary otherwise.

The door was locked with a “click,” making a soft sound. Lyss took off his coat, not turning around, allowing the person behind him to take the clothes and hang them aside.

“Did you find out anything?” Lyss turned slightly, feeling the fragrance intensify. “What’s this scent?”

“Scent? What scent?” Lu Xingye took out the inexplicable transmitter, “Time is pressing, and there’s no time to explain. Follow me into that space; we’ll talk about the scent when we’re out.”

Lyss pondered for a moment before nodding. “Okay.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Lu Xingye pressed the transmitter, causing a slight distortion in the space. Then, an entrance resembling a miniature nebula appeared in front of the two.

After exchanging a glance, both stepped forward simultaneously.

After a moment of dizzying distortion, a dark and somewhat eerie space appeared before them. In the distance, they could vaguely see the outlines of several boxes, nothing more discernible.

Before Lyss could inspect further, Lu Xingye reached for his hand and whispered softly, “Follow me.”

Passing several boxes, Lu Xingye led Lyss to a narrow corner, stopping. He raised his hand into the darkness and gently pulled outwards, silently opening an invisible door.

“This is a relatively concealed spot I just found. Let’s enter here first and see what they’re planning to do later.” Lu Xingye whispered into Lyss’s ear.

Lyss nodded and stepped inside. Before entering, he thought it was another room. Once inside, he realized it was as narrow as a wardrobe.

Lyss, a 1.8-meter-tall omega, struggled in the small space. Lu Xingye seemed even less compatible with the tight space, unable to find a suitable posture and having to stoop.

In the darkness, neither could see anything. Lu Xingye’s rough movements even managed to press against Lyss’s tail.

Lyss widened his eyes in the darkness, hastily pressing down on Lu Xingye’s shoulder as he began to enter. He murmured, “Wait…”

Before he could finish speaking, a faint light suddenly appeared in the distance. A miniature nebula similar to when they entered manifested.

Lyss’s pushing motion weakened immediately. Lu Xingye’s expression changed, hurriedly using force to push himself into the “wardrobe.” The cramped space barely accommodated both of them.

Lyss bit his lip, pressed against the metal panel behind him, feeling an icy chill. Lu Xingye, unable to fit in the space before, now crammed inside, had no choice but to lower his head. His slightly heated breath sprayed against Lyss’s ear in the darkness. In the blackness, the fair earlobe gradually took on a tinge of light red.

A subtle distortion occurred in the nebula, signaling someone was about to enter. At this critical moment, Lu Xingye lifted his hand and forcefully closed the “wardrobe” door. The door was locked, cutting off the last ray of light from the outside. The cramped space was shrouded in darkness, leaving only the interlacing sounds of two breaths.

Lyss leaned against one side, his hands placed behind him on the metal panel, feeling an icy coldness. The space was tiny, and Lu Xingye squeezing in had made it even more constricted. Lyss’s tail, previously placed comfortably at his side, now had nowhere to go and ended up coiled around his waist, its pointed tip brushing against the person in front, bearing a different implication.

Lu Xingye’s hands, much like Lyss’s tail, had no place to rest and could only hang around Lyss’s waist. The intense warmth transmitted through the fabric.

For a while, no one spoke, leaving only Lu Xingye’s gradually intensifying breath and Lyss’s relatively steady breathing.

Outside, Feng Man was waiting, but as no one else had entered, he started pacing around. His footsteps were erratic and hurried, indicating his impatience.

Lyss, almost halfway to being held by Lu Xingye, felt no discomfort. After a while, he could even say, “Your heartbeat seems a bit fast.”

Giving a sheltered puppy a glimpse of the world.

Chief: …? Your heart seems to be beating too fast.

Puppy: … If you get any closer, I think it might stop beating soon.
