Chapter 19: Estrus Period

Starfall Sea has neither morals nor laws. Any research not permitted elsewhere could become a reality in Starfall Sea, but such research does not include any for medical purposes. A good medical system can alleviate human suffering and extend life, but for the people of Starfall Sea, it’s unnecessary.
Whether floating in the sea or watching from the shore, excessive healthcare will make life more resilientâwhich would be too boring. Most people don’t come here to witness a tedious happy ending. So, after the fading glory of the âKnights,’ other forces are inevitably going to target the remaining members, just like humans did in ancient times.
The âKnights,’ after losing Lu Xingye, once again gained the fear of everyone in a gruesome manner. The price was three dead and one severely injured member. The only good news is that the heavily injured one is Levine, currently lying in the crude medical pod of Starfall Sea, but at least he was still alive.
“How long can he hold on?” Lyss asked after hearing Lu Xingye’s account.
“At most, a week,” Lu Xingye said solemnly. “The Rabbit saved my life before, I need to go back.”
Lyss didn’t immediately respond but instead placed that recording device on the table. After a while, he spoke up, “I’ll go with you.”
“You’re going with me?” Lu Xingye was somewhat surprised. “The Information Department should have what you need. Aren’t you planning to check there? And if you leave, what if they destroy the data?”
“Will they show me what I need if I go?” Lyss presented his tail to Lu Xingye. “That’s too optimistic.”
The snow-white tail tip waved in front of him. Lu Xingye paused for a moment before realizing that Lyss wanted him to wipe his tail. Taking a cloud-like towel, Lu Xingye bowed his head and wiped the slightly damp tail for a while, suddenly understanding, “You’re pretending not to know, taking the initiative to leave Triss… Fishing for Law Enforcement.”
Lyss lightly hummed. After a few seconds of silence behind him, his alpha leaned in and whispered, “What excuse does the Chief intend to use? Tomorrow is not a rest day.”
“I’m an omega,” Lyss said lightly, “some holidays are legally mandated and cannot be deprived of.”Â
Omega’s estrus period holiday is mandatory, and so is the alpha of that omega.
Lu Xingye paused at his words, then casually resumed wiping his tail, “When are we leaving?”
He handled it well. Lyss slowly closed his eyes, “Tomorrow.”
Lu Xingye was taken aback, “…Don’t you need to plan things out?”
“If everything waited until today to be arranged,” Lyss leaned back in the embrace, “then I might as well not sit in this Chief’s position.”
Lu Xingye suddenly understood, “You’ve been waiting for today.”
Lyss kept his eyes closed without confirming or denying it. Lu Xingye lowered his head, observing the omega nestled in his arms. He quietly closed his eyes, with thick, long silver eyelashes casting faint shadows on his fair, harmless-looking skin, appearing both beautiful and innocent.
“Great tactics, Chief.” Lu Xingye pulled the person into his arms, lightly pinching the tail. “Anyone caught in your crosshairs might end up with nothing but bones left.”
Lyss tugged his tail but gave up, opening his eyes and turning to the person behind him. “Are you scared?”
“Of course, I’m scared.” Lu Xingye said this while guiding Lyss closer by the waist.
Lyss allowed Lu Xingye’s movements until their noses almost touched, then he raised a finger, gently touching Lu Xingye’s lips. “No.”
Lyss’s speech was slow, as if teasing his own pet. “I need some rest.”
Lu Xingye persisted, hugging Lyss and starting to act like a rogue. “Mr. Lyss, please, pretty please.”
He was always ready to beg without any psychological burden. But surprisingly, Lyss seemed briefly stunned by his plea. His grip loosened a bit, and his cuddly “puppy” immediately went in for a kiss.
Lu Xingye succeeded in the sneak attack and wanted to push it further, but the next second, Lyss used his chin to push him away.
Lyss had considerable strength in his hands, leaving Lu Xingye to retreat with a smile. “Ouch, Chief, not so rough.”
“A little pain is good for you, helps you remember.” Lyss released him, patting his face gently. “Tomorrow morning, tell the council my estrus period is approaching, I need a break. If they ask anything else, say you don’t know; they have contingency plans.”
Lu Xingye hesitated for a moment. “Alright.”
“I’m going to rest, you should sleep early.” Lyss easily pushed Lu Xingye away, heading into the bedroom, paying no attention to what Lu Xingye, sitting alone on the couch, might be thinking.
In fact, Lyss hadn’t lied. The next morning, his body began heating up uncontrollably.
Quietly touching the golden code on his collarbone, Lyss half-closed his eyes, roughly estimating the onset of his estrus period. Just as he was planning his next move, Lu Xingye suddenly knocked on his door.
Lyss snapped out of his thoughts. “Come in.”
Opening the door, Lu Xingye said, “Is there something wrong with those council members?”
Lyss asked, “What happened?”
“I told them about your approaching estrus period, and they insist on sending a guard to protect you.” Lu Xingye leaned against the door frame, complaining. “Those loafing guards aren’t enough for me alone, how can they protect you? The reasons they provided were flimsy; they’re just a bunch of…”
Lyss didn’t confirm or deny. “How did you respond?”
“I told them not to bother,” Lu Xingye proclaimed quite arrogantly. “I’ll fulfill my duties as a secretary and take care of the Chief.”
Lyss locked eyes with him for a moment. “Then, Secretary Lu, I’ll be counting on you.”
Suppressants could delay the onset of estrus, but so far, no medication could interrupt it. Therefore, this holiday needed council approval, and they had no right to interfere with Lyss’s schedule, only to monitor him by assigning guards.
This was the council’s biggest concernâomegas with enough clout could control their estrus period, manipulating the council.
Though Lyss’s estrus period was unstable, he could induce it with medication at will. The council had no way to stop him.
Regardless of how the conservative members of the council reacted, Lyss boarded the starship headed for Starfall Sea with a medical pod. The difference this time was that he was the only passenger, and Lu Xingye was the pilot.
“Chief, quite a tactic.” Lu Xingye set the autopilot and turned to Lyss. “Such a big medical pod, the council approved it just like that?”
Lyss was already feeling uncomfortable. He gently acknowledged with closed eyes.
“What did you tell them?” Lu Xingye was curious. “When I dealt with them this morning, those old men weren’t that easy to persuade.”
“I said…” Lyss gently opened his eyes. “My alpha at home is young and sometimes a bit too forceful. I’m afraid he might harm me if he goes berserk.”
Lyss spoke in a calm tone, as if discussing someone else’s affairs.
Lu Xingye paused, then blushed. “That’s notâI haven’t done anything yet. Don’t falsely accuse me.”
“I’m not lying. You’ve always been a bit forceful. Kisses that could draw blood and bites that seem to want to consume someone,” Lyss said matter-of-factly. “A berserk little dog with no limits. Can you guarantee not to hurt me?”
Lu Xingye was momentarily speechless, only to speak after a while. “I can’t guarantee that, but I’ll restrain myself as much as possible… But Chief, if I restrain too much, won’t I fail to meet your expectations?”
“You can try.” Lyss didn’t buy his act, not even lifting an eye. “I’m looking forward to it.”
Arriving at Starfall Sea, they carried the medical pod to Levine’s house. His underground half-bunker was quite luxurious, complete with a giant golden carrot at the entrance.
Lyss asked, “So big, aren’t you afraid of theft?”
“It’s gold-plated, and there are meteorites inside.” Lu Xingye sneered. “If he had the money to buy such large gold pieces, he wouldn’t have been beaten up like this.”
Brighton, the fox alpha, opened the door for them. Seeing Lyss in person, he wore a surprised expression. “Ly… Mr. Lyss, please, come in quickly.”
After all the fuss, Brighton kept signaling to Lu Xingye, looking as if he had just seen a pretty boy cozying up to a big shot.
Lu Xingye clicked his tongue. “What’s with your eyes? Acting all weird.”
Lyss glanced over at the mention and immediately Brighton said, “No… no, not at all.”
“Good.” Lu Xingye handed the medical pod to him. “Where’s Rabbit?”
Brighton lifted his chin, and they both looked towards the center of the living room, where an old, worn-out medical pod was placed.
Lu Xingye walked over, speechless. “This looks like an exhibit of corpses. Poor guy, beaten to this state, looking like a stuffed rabbit specimen. And you’ve placed this specimen right in the middle of the living room, quite a concept.”
Brighton justified himself, “Every time I get beaten up or injured, Levine just tosses me in here in the living room. Once, he left me here for half a month without caring. I almost rotted away…”
“Alright, alright, I don’t want to hear about your grievances.” Lu Xingye waved his hand. “His life is valuable now. Though he’s quite injured, with this medical pod, he’ll definitely wake up within a day. Take good care of him, and inform me as soon as he wakes up.”
Brighton blinked, then looking at Lyss, he immediately understood. “…Mr. Lyss has something to discuss with him?”
“Yes.” Lyss nodded. “I need to ask him about something.”
“Understood, I’ll make sure to take care of him and inform you both when he wakes up.”
With their immediate business resolved, the two left Levine’s place with the carrot statue. As they walked toward where the starship was parked, Lyss suddenly halted his steps.
“What’s wrong?” Lu Xingye sensed something and stopped as well.
Lyss looked up at the dazzling night sky. “The mecha’s too far; I don’t want to walk anymore.”
As the night grew darker, Lu Xingye carried Lyss on his back, walking slowly through the deserted ruins. The person behind him grew hotter, and the quickening heartbeat transferred through the fabric to his back. Lu Xingye’s eyes gradually darkened, resembling the night sky above.
Lyss leaned quietly against the alpha’s shoulder, unable to smell Lu Xingye’s pheromones but recognizing the body that had temporarily marked him.
Starfall Sea had no daylight and the long nights were oppressive, which led to the creation of an artificial moon, its radiant light akin to flowing water.
In the darkness, the abundant moonlight was on the verge of overflowing. The place where the mecha was parked wasn’t far, yet the two felt as though they had walked a considerable distance. Just as they entered the mecha, there was a sudden burst of an unprecedented concentration of peach scent from Lyss’s body. The sweet fragrance grated on the alpha’s nerves.
Lyss, who had endured for so long, couldn’t suppress the pheromones within any longer. The overwhelming tide instantly shattered his calm and composure. At this moment, Lyss was like a cup brimming with an aroma that couldn’t be contained, unable to prevent those who coveted it from taking a taste.
Pressing his lips together, Lyss allowed himself to be lifted and placed on the console next to the pilot seat by Lu Xingye, the cabin door locking automatically as the mecha’s interior lit up. Caught off guard, Lu Xingye saw the stunning creature he had placed on the console. The once calm and collected golden eyes now seemed to lose focus like ripples on the water.
Today, Lyss wore a white shirt, its soft collar folding slightly to reveal a glimpse of a half-golden “A” imprinted on his collarbone, a stark contrast between the fair, almost porcelain-like skin and the magnificent tattoo.
A painting of purity and beauty, akin to the forbidden fruit in Eden.
Lu Xingye’s breathing grew heavier. His reason and instincts told him it was dangerous; this beautiful, god-like omega was too dangerous. Just as Lu Xingye was struggling with his own restraint, one sentence from Lyss shattered his last vestiges of clarity and self-control.
“I don’t need you to take responsibility…” Lyss slowly raised his golden eyes, an action that should have been looking up but appeared as though a merciful deity glanced down at the world. “I just need an alpha who can help alleviate my estrus period… Have you made up your mind?”

However strong and intelligent LX might be, he’s putty in Lyss’s hands.
Guess he’ll be kicked out soon, then đ
Thank you both for the chapter.
