Chapter 5: Stirred

Faced with the surging warmth, Lyss only softened his legs slightly at first, but soon his expression returned to normal. Except for a slight blush at the corners of his eyes that he couldn’t control, there was not the slightest change in his breathing rate.

However, letting his body continue like this, the outcome might be unpredictable. After pondering for a moment, Lyss put on his clothes, turned around, and pushed open the bedroom door. He glanced around and didn’t find Lu Xingye on the first floor. Subconsciously, he thought the other person was still upstairs packing, so he composed himself and walked into the bathroom.

Lyss filled the bathtub with cold water and then took off his robe, stepping into it.

If someone were to see this scene at this moment, they would surely show a surprised expression. Even trained individuals cannot step into cold water without any expression, let alone Lyss, who not only showed no expression but also had no slightest tremor—this couldn’t be described simply as having a strong physical constitution.

Lyss lowered his eyes to the reflection on the surface of the water. After soaking for a full half-hour, his body finally cooled down.

Because Lyss himself had slight cleanliness tendencies, there were actually six bathrooms in his house, two on each floor—one with a showerhead and one with a bathtub.

For convenience, the two bathrooms on each floor were designed within the same washroom. Specifically, when you pushed open the washroom door and entered, you would see the sink. Looking up, you would see two closed rooms.

Before this, no one had ever taken a bath in Lyss’s house, so he was not very familiar with the situation in his own bathroom. In fact, the sound insulation of the two bathrooms was quite good, which meant that if someone was showering in each of the two bathrooms separately, they might not be aware of each other’s presence at all—just like the current situation.

Because he hadn’t heard any water sounds from the next room for a long time, Lyss assumed Lu Xingye had not come down yet. Thinking of that guy looking disheveled upstairs, Lyss subconsciously frowned.

But when he thought again that Lu Xingye’s secrets might help him unravel the mystery of the explosion a thousand years ago, Lyss slowly relaxed his brows.

He looked down at the faint golden code on his clavicle—”A-000″. As expected, due to the previous rise in body temperature, the faint gold gradually intensified. Even though his temperature had now dropped, the code had still turned completely golden.

When the real estrus period arrived, its color would probably deepen further.

Lyss gently touched the code on his clavicle with his hand, and a splendid and bizarre scene suddenly appeared in the bathroom—countless faint golden codes flowed out of the tattoo, floating in the air like a celestial curtain, shining with restrained and elegant brilliance, illuminating the entire bathroom.

Lyss quietly watched the floating codes in front of him. Each code clearly indicated the duration of his pre-estrus symptoms and the exact time when the estrus period would truly arrive.

The doctor was just a facade. To understand his own situation, Lyss didn’t need any external objects.

He calmly examined his own condition and gently moved his hand away from his clavicle. The codes scattered throughout the room instantly shattered, and the bathroom returned to calmness once again.

The tattoo on his clavicle was slightly warm, but the location was not easy to observe. Thinking that Lu Xingye hadn’t come down yet, Lyss stood up from the bathtub, dried himself off, put on his robe, and walked out of the bathroom.

He stood in front of the sink, facing a mirror that was out of place with the interstellar era but identical to the one a thousand years ago. Lyss raised his gaze and silently confronted his reflection in the mirror.

What exactly am I? he thought to himself. The person in the mirror made the same movements, the same silence, and no one could answer his question, not even himself.

It was a stunning scene with a sense of displacement amidst the retro decor. Beautiful beyond the beings of humanity, facing his reflection in the mirror, Lyss’s golden eyes, identical to those in the mirror, confronted each other across the millennia in a silent dialogue.

The bathrobe hung loosely on Lyss, the belt casually tied around his waist. His skin was incredibly white, but not pallid. The skin under the robe was as radiant as moonlight, the fabric around his waist loose, revealing glimpses of his waistline and abdominal muscles, like an isolated work of art from another world.

“Is this supposed to be a simulation of the 21st century amusement park? This bathroom is too damn retro…”

Lyss’s bathroom was no different from the bathrooms of ancient Earth, even the toiletries strictly adhered to a retro style, without even a floating bubble, let alone a drying tower.

Lu Xingye had just finished bathing, but he couldn’t even find a way to dry himself. With a head full of annoyance and a body covered in mist, he pushed open the bathroom door intending to settle the score with Lyss.

He didn’t know Lyss was in the adjacent washroom, so when he unexpectedly saw Lyss in front of him, he was abruptly cut off mid-sentence, and his whole body froze in place.

An hour ago, he was the Chief of the High Ridge Flower, calmly dignified in military uniform and cloak in front of the camera, but now he was just standing in front of him wearing a pure white bathrobe, which was so thin that it didn’t cover the important parts.

Due to the lack of drying facilities, there were inevitably some water droplets on Lyss’s body. The damp fabric clung to his hip, and the belt was loose. A droplet of water rolled down his abdominal muscles, and Lu Xingye’s already red face flushed another degree. He felt like he was about to boil.

The white tail lay dignifiedly on one side of the sink, with the tip still dripping water, not a particularly special scene, but Lu Xingye suddenly felt a little dry in his mouth.

Lyss turned his head at the sound, only to see the freshly bathed alpha wolf with wet ears and hair, wearing nothing on the upper body, and only a towel wrapped around the lower body, which was not particularly skillfully tied, with half of a leg exposed directly outside. Some water droplets that hadn’t been wiped off properly were rolling down the firm and powerful calf muscles.

Because Lu Xingye didn’t quite understand how to use Lyss’s antique-level bathroom, he didn’t dry himself much, and a droplet of water slid along his chest muscles to his abdominal muscles. Lyss’s gaze followed the droplet all the way down until it disappeared into the towel around Lu Xingye’s waist.

Lyss calmly withdrew his gaze, but Lu Xingye, shocked, couldn’t look away for the first few seconds. But after just three seconds, he couldn’t bear it and quickly averted his gaze to save face.

But as he turned his head in a panic, he caught a glimpse of a golden number or code on Lyss’s clavicle in the mirror.

What’s that? Lu Xingye’s brain still hadn’t reacted, and he subconsciously wanted to see the content of the code clearly.

However, Lyss was one step ahead, raising his hand to cover the code on his clavicle with the bathrobe. He pursed his lips, turned to look at Lu Xingye, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, and his eyes showed rare traces of reproach.

This was originally a rebuke from a superior to an offender, but when seen by the little wolf cub who didn’t know the immensity of the world, it didn’t have the authority Lyss imagined.

There was still a faint blush at the corners of Lyss’s eyes, coupled with his extraordinary appearance. Looking at him, it was like a spring scenery reflected in clear water, with excellent results. Upon seeing this, Lu Xingye instantly forgot about the code.

Lyss had never encountered such an offender before. It seemed that eye contact wasn’t effective, so he had to speak up, “Next time, please dry yourself before leaving the bath. It’s hard to clean up water drops outside the bathroom.”

“Sorry, I didn’t know you were outside,” Lu Xingye suddenly came back to his senses, quickly averted his gaze, and began to apologize. However, despite the apology, he was not willing to admit defeat, “But really, Chief, your bathroom is probably even shabbier than the most rudimentary bathroom in Starfall Sea. It’s not that I don’t want to dry myself, it’s just that even if I want to, I can’t.”

After taking a glance at him from the mirror, Lyss turned on the tap to wash his face, “If you feel uncomfortable, you can buy one and install it in the bathroom on the second floor. I hardly ever use that one.”

Lyss’s attitude was always calm and restrained. Lu Xingye sighed, “Okay, I got it.”

With that, he looked around and, seeing Lyss washing his face, asked puzzledly, “What are you looking for?”

“Tools to clean up water stains,” Lu Xingye replied, “After all, I got your floor wet, so I have to clean it up.”

“They’re over there,” Lyss pointed to the mop hanging on the wall.

“What’s this?” Lu Xingye followed his hand and looked over, completely dumbfounded. “How do you use this?”

“This is a mop, probably a tool used by people on ancient Earth about a thousand years ago to clean the floor,” Lyss put down the towel in his hand, walked over, picked up the mop, and handed it to Lu Xingye. “Hold the handle and use force to rub the end on the floor.”

Lyss explained the rules of using the mop as if he were explaining the rules of piloting a starship.

Fortunately, Lu Xingye had always been good at doing housework since he was a child. He hesitated to take the tool, tried it a couple of times, and gradually got the hang of it. However, he still used it in an unfamiliar way, holding the mop and dragging it forward from this side.

“You can’t drag it backward,” Lyss walked behind Lu Xingye and said, “This will dirty the floor you’ve just cleaned. You have to drag it from front to…”

Before Lyss could finish his sentence, Lu Xingye suddenly turned around as if someone had stepped on his tail. He was slightly taller than Lyss, causing Lyss to almost bump into him.

“What’s wrong?” Lyss frowned.

Lu Xingye looked at him in shock for a moment before finally uttering a few words, “…Is your estrus period approaching?”

Lyss was momentarily stunned. “How did you know?”

“I mean, Chief,” Lu Xingye retreated while expressing his incredulity, “Can’t you smell your own pheromones?”

Lyss was somewhat surprised. “You can smell my pheromones?”

“That’s obvious. How could an alpha not…” Lu Xingye stopped halfway, furrowing his brows after a while. “Wait, if your pheromone level is really as strong as during the estrus period, why can’t I smell it from this distance?”

This was the first time Lyss had encountered an alpha who could smell his own pheromones in a normal state. Previous alphas either couldn’t smell them after training, or they would go into a frenzy the moment they smelled them. Some alphas with slightly weaker tolerance might even go into shock on the spot.

Because hardly anyone could smell them in a normal state, Lyss almost never paid attention to his pheromones.

“My pheromone level is unstable and abnormal. Normally, it’s not detectable. Most of the alphas who smelled it before through auxiliary means weren’t as calm as you,” Lyss explained, then added somewhat uncertainly, “What does my pheromone smell like to you?”

“White peach,” Lu Xingye said matter-of-factly, “I smelled it when you were beating me on the field before. But at that time, we were close enough, and later when we were in the same car, I didn’t smell it again… Did you apply isolation patches then?”

“No,” Lyss denied, “Things like isolation patches don’t work on me, and neither do suppressants.”

“Is that true?” Lu Xingye took a few steps forward incredulously. “Could it be that smelling them depends on distance?”

Lyss thought for a moment and thought it was possible. So he walked up to Lu Xingye, “What about this distance? Can you still…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Lu Xingye, who had been chatting normally with Lyss just a second ago, suddenly froze in place. After about three seconds, he unexpectedly reached out, grabbed Lyss’s waist, and with great force, pinned him against the nearby wall.

Lyss suddenly looked up, only to see Lu Xingye’s pupils had changed from gray-blue to a deep blue, rich with undeniable desire. But before he could inspect further, Lu Xingye, who had evidently lost his sanity, lowered his head and bit down.
