Chapter 59: Going Home

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Hearing the delighted voice of his daughter, the cold expressions on both faces softened. Lu Xingye smiled and bent down, extending his arms, “Hey, did my little darling miss me?”

Lin Lang, excited as a firecracker, dashed straight towards him, not even stopping before crashing into Lu Xingye’s arms.

Lu Xingye scooped up his daughter, Lin Lang beamed with joy, completely concealing any signs of having been upset just moments ago. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Lu Xingye, “I’ve missed you so much! But mommy missed you even more. He can’t sleep at night because he misses you.”

Lyss remained silent throughout, surprised that even this could be used against him by his daughter. He had been cold-shouldering Lu Xingye for coming to the federation without notice, and upon hearing this, he awkwardly turned away, avoiding Lu Xingye’s surprised and bewildered gaze.

At this point, most of the kindergarten kids had been picked up. Only a few teachers and some children remained at the door waiting for their parents.

Lin Lang was a bit away from the crowd, so initially, not many noticed what was happening. The crisp “Daddy” from the little girl was only heard by the few present.

Qiqi’s biological father, Noe, showed an incredulous expression at the mention of “Alpha,” but he didn’t continue looking at Lu Xingye. Instead, he turned to Lyss with a shocked expression, “Chief, is this your alpha? How could you choose someone from the Empire…”

Lu Xingye interrupted, “Sir, we need to discuss the children’s matter now. Adult matters can wait.”

Noe, interrupted, looked a bit displeased, frowning at Lu Xingye, “I was talking to the Chief. It’s very impolite to interrupt someone.”

Hearing his attitude towards Lu Xingye, Lyss didn’t say much. Noe’s two alphas were frightened at the exchange.

“I’m sorry,” Lu Xingye smiled faintly, “I didn’t know you knew about manners. I thought your family lacked that concept.”

Noe seethed, “You—”

“Your son, at such a young age, is full of lies, easily bullies little girls, and uses derogatory language against omegas. He looks down on omegas so much, he probably looks down on you as a father too. It’s a pity, sir.” Lu Xingye shook his head solemnly, “With your son’s qualities, I don’t think he needs an education. Instead of wasting valuable resources on a child like him, why not go home and consider what you’ll do when your son ends up in jail? Will you have more problematic offspring, or will you try to get him out of trouble?”

Lyss doesn’t swear, and Lin Lang, having grown up with him, is also refined. But Lu Xingye is different. Lu Jin was civil and right-minded when dealing with Lyss, she almost wanted to delete all the swear words from Lyss’s database. But in front of Lu Xingye, she didn’t beat around the bush.

Lu Xingye roamed interstellar space with Lu Jin for so many years, hearing countless harsh and dirty words. Naturally, he’s not as easily persuaded as Lyss and Lin Lang.Ā

Noe, used to a life of luxury as an omega, has never heard such a mix of sarcasm and insults. He was momentarily stunned and didn’t know what to say. His two alphas noticed the shift but, recalling the news from earlier in the day and seeing Lyss watching, they surprisingly didn’t dare to say anything. After all, Qiqi wasn’t their biological child, and it wasn’t worth creating trouble with the Chief over someone else’s child.

“Just kids playing around,” Lyss conveniently spoke up at that moment, “Perhaps there’s a misunderstanding. There’s no need to jump to conclusions.”

“Yes, yes, it’s definitely a misunderstanding. What can kids understand?” the female alpha said, pausing and then apologizing with a light smile, “Sorry for auntie’s attitude earlier, Lin Lang.”

Another male alpha joined in, “The kids were just playing…”

Before he could finish, Lyss lowered his head and asked his daughter, “Sweetie, what exactly happened? Explain to Uncle and Auntie the reasons, what happened, and the outcome.”

Lin Lang obediently recounted what happened in the afternoon. She did so clearly, and the rights and wrongs were obvious. The people around listened, their expressions growing more uncomfortable. Finally, the little girl added, “Qiqi said his new dad is also an alpha. Uncle, are you Qiqi’s new dad?”

The male alpha’s expression subtly changed, then he nodded and smiled, “Yes, I’m his new dad.”

“Well, you’re so pitiful,” Lin Lang spoke frankly while leaning against Lu Xingye, “Qiqi already has several dads and moms, and you’re only in line after them.”

Children don’t understand love or possessiveness in love, but they know emotions have different degrees. For example, she loves mommy the most, then daddy, but if there’s another daddy, she might not have enough energy to love them all.

Lin Lang’s frank words hit the man right in the heart, his face suddenly turning ugly. Noe, noticing this, felt a bit flustered for some reason and quickly spoke up, “Qiqi isn’t that kind of child. He couldn’t have done something like this. You’re lying. Even if he did, you can’t hit him for it; this is bullying!”

Lu Xingye frowned upon hearing this, seemingly wanting to make the other party understand what real bullying is. Noe was scared white by his aura, and Lin Lang, upon hearing this, finally got angry and seriously said, “I’m not lying. There’s surveillance there. If you don’t believe me, you can go check.”

This statement left Noe speechless.

The teacher, noticing the tense atmosphere, hurriedly approached, “Hello, what happened here?”

Lyss didn’t want to linger with them any longer. He turned to the teacher, “Tomorrow is a day off. Regarding this matter, I hope the school can provide a reasonable solution on Monday.”

Lu Xingye wanted to say something but was pulled away by Lyss.

On the way back, Lin Lang didn’t seem to have been bullied at all. Instead, she was ecstatic, pestering Lu Xingye about when they would reach Triss. She kept naming dishes non-stop, almost ordering meals for the next month.

Lu Xingye’s mood wasn’t as bright as his daughter’s. Suppressing his anger, he grumbled to Lyss while piloting the mecha, “Where did those lowlifes come from? That little brat’s mother just spouts nonsense. If it weren’t for you holding me back, I’d have twisted his legs!”

Lyss frowned disapprovingly, “Don’t use foul language in front of our daughter.”

“Oh,” Lu Xingye dryly responded but remained angry. “Is it that your temper has become too good these years, or is that omega truly so ignorant? How dare they bully the Chief’s daughter?”

“The Chief’s daughter is no different from any other child. She shouldn’t enjoy privileges or be bullied,” Lyss explained, rubbing Lin Lang’s ears. “Noe is Booker’s only son. Booker, in his old age, overly indulges his son due to losing his wife early. He went too far this time.”

It took Lu Xingye a few seconds to realize who Booker was. “Booker? The old man from the council? Wasn’t he supposed to retire?”

“He retired two years ago but still has some influence in the council,” Lyss explained. “When I went missing, Hilton wanted to manipulate the military elections. Booker delayed the change of office until the last day, or else the situation would have been much harder to deal with.”

Lu Xingye furrowed his brows tightly, “So this old man’s using his status to spoil his grandson?”

“He didn’t mean to. It’s just that in his old age, he spoils the child excessively. He can’t control Noe and his son,” Lyss said, looking at Lin Lang’s attentive eyes. “What does Lin Lang want to do this time?”

Lin Lang hesitated for a moment, realizing the atmosphere was off, then cautiously spoke up, “…I want Qiqi and his dad to apologize to me.”

“Just an apology? Sweetheart, why is your temper so soft?” Lu Xingye lamented. “He bullied you more than once, even touched your tail. An alpha casually touching an omega’s tail is outrageous. How dare that brat touch your tail? Why do you only know how to use your tail on him? Your mom nearly choked me to death—”

He suddenly stopped, both Lyss and Lin Lang turning to look at him. Lin Lang glanced at Lyss, then at Lu Xingye, and blinked, “Has Dad also touched Mom’s tail?”

Faced with his daughter’s innocent question, Lu Xingye fell silent. Lyss, with a smile, interjected, “Not just the tail.”

Lin Lang understood immediately, “Dad, turns out you’re also a rascal.”

Her straightforward words almost made Lu Xingye steer the mecha into the nearby suspended trade building. He hurriedly tried to salvage his image, “Though it’s true, but—”

“It’s different, sweetheart,” Lyss interrupted, lowering his head to Lin Lang. “I love your dad, so I’m willing to let him touch my tail. But as long as you don’t want it, nobody can touch your tail, including betas and omegas. Understand?”

Lin Lang nodded as if understanding, then changed the subject, “So, Dad returned to Triss because he missed you?”

A very logical inference. Suddenly, Lyss, with a gentle expression, halted and then glanced coolly at Lu Xingye, “He just wanted to come back and get beaten.”

Lin Lang didn’t understand, turning to the apologetic Lu Xingye, “Dad, what did you do to upset Mom again?”

Lu Xingye cleared his throat, about to speak, when Lyss intervened, “From now on, no talking to him.”

Lin Lang paused for a moment, then obediently said, “Oh.”

“Are you giving Dad the silent treatment, Mom?” Lin Lang asked innocently.

Lyss replied with a simple “Mm.”

Lin Lang looked at Lu Xingye and then at Lyss before sincerely commenting, “Mom, you’re so childish.”

Lu Xingye chuckled but got a cold look from Lyss.

Quickly suppressing his laughter, Lu Xingye said seriously, “Miss Lin Lang, shall we continue discussing your schooling? I believe that Qiqi seriously affected your school experience. Should we deal with him?”

Lin Lang laughed for a while before reluctantly putting on a serious expression, “That would make Booker sad. We shouldn’t, Mr. Lu Xingye.”

“Alright, Miss, let him disappear from your world,” Lu Xingye said firmly.

Lyss couldn’t help but interject, “What are you planning?”

Lu Xingye shrugged, “Just transferring that brat. The Chief is cautious, fearing it might upset your benefactor. I’m not worried about that. Leave it to me.”

Lyss raised an eyebrow as a reminder, “This is Triss, not the Empire.”

“I know,” Lu Xingye chuckled, “Don’t worry, it won’t involve diplomatic issues.”

“Be careful,” Lyss said, looking at Lin Lang, “Today you called Dad outside. Be more careful next time.”

Lin Lang nodded quickly to show she understood.

The mecha landed smoothly. Lyss tacitly didn’t ask Lu Xingye why he didn’t return to the embassy as both knew this was Lu Xingye’s true home.

After five years, they were back here.

When the familiar door opened, Lu Xingye suddenly felt a sense of homesickness.

Lin Lang bounced in, skillfully turning on the entrance lights. The light spilled onto Lyss’s face through the door crack. At that moment, he looked like a deity dragged into the mortal world. Lu Xingye, hesitating at the door, suddenly paused.

Sensing movement behind him, Lyss looked at Lu Xingye. When Lin Lang moved a bit farther, he softly asked, “Do you regret it?”

Out of context, this sentence seemed out of place amidst the current atmosphere. Yet, Lu Xingye miraculously understood.

Following me from the Starfall Sea to here, enduring those hardships and sorrows, now, after six years, standing back at the starting point, if you had the chance again, would you still choose to come back with me?

Lu Xingye suddenly felt like he was back in that afternoon five years ago when, with numerous doubts and hesitations, he followed this beautiful and mysterious omega here. Danger was looming, but he seemed bewitched, plunging in without hesitation.

How could I regret meeting my deity?

“What about you?” Lu Xingye didn’t immediately answer that question, instead smiling and asking, “Does the Chief regret inviting the wolf into the house?”

Do you regret picking me up from the Starfall Sea? Regret mistaking a wolf for a puppy and eventually letting the wolf into the house, conceiving our child?

Without hesitation, Lyss replied, “Of course not.”

“My answer is the same as yours.” Lu Xingye stopped hesitating, stepping beside Lyss, holding his hand, and smiling, “I’ve never regretted it. Meeting you was my greatest fortune, and coming back with you was my best decision.”

Lyss suddenly smiled, radiant like stars. Lu Xingye’s hand shook as he closed the door, making a loud noise.

Lin Lang, just back in her pajamas, was about to take a bath when their commotion startled her, “What happened?”

Lu Xingye quickly smiled, “Nothing, Dad hasn’t been back for a long time and got a bit excited.”

“Oh,” the girl nodded earnestly, “Dad, I want porridge tonight.”

Lu Xingye chuckled, “Sure, I’ll make it for you later.”

Satisfied, Lin Lang went into the bathroom.

Everyone in this house had to abide by Lyss’s rules. Though Lu Xingye was still excited and eager to hold Lyss close, he was coldly rebuffed by Lyss with a simple command, “Go take a shower.”

Reluctantly, Lu Xingye released Lyss and went to the bathroom with a heavy heart.

A hint of amusement flickered in Lyss’s eyes as they went back to the bedroom, changed into a robe, quickly took a shower, and noticed that Lu Xingye hadn’t come down yet. So, they headed upstairs.

The steady sound of water echoed from the second-floor bathroom. The door nearby was tightly closed, indicating that as soon as Lu Xingye arrived, he went straight to the bathroom without even entering the bedroom.

Lyss hesitated for three seconds before finally pushing open the bedroom door and stepping in. The room lit up automatically, and the diary was still in its place.

Apart from that one accidental entry Lyss stumbled upon earlier, he hadn’t read any more of Lu Xingye’s diary. It was tempting to know what was inside, but randomly going through someone else’s diary was an unethical act. Lyss stood in place, contemplating for three seconds, then took the diary and quietly sat on the bed, patiently waiting for Lu Xingye.

When Lu Xingye, wrapped in a towel after finishing his shower, pushed the door open, he saw Lyss sitting calmly on the bed. It startled him for a moment, his heart skipping a beat, but he couldn’t resist and walked over. halfway there, he suddenly saw that familiar cover of the “book” in Lyss’s arms, freezing in his tracks.

An indescribable awkwardness and panic surged within Lu Xingye as he suddenly recalled the crazy things he had written in that diary, including various fantasies and names that Lyss shouldn’t know about. His throat rolled involuntarily, and with a last shred of hope, he asked, “Brother… have you read it?”

“Accidentally stumbled upon one entry,” Lyss was straightforward, “But haven’t read the others.”

Lu Xingye sighed in relief, quickly sat down beside Lyss, and attempted to casually take the diary from their hands. “There’s nothing interesting in there.”

But Lyss cleverly dodged, hiding the diary behind them, and stared unblinkingly at Lu Xingye. “You still owe me a request.”

Because of Lu Xingye’s sudden “surprise,” Lyss was giving him the silent treatment. Lu Xingye, in an attempt to reconcile, would say anything to placate Lyss. Finally, when it seemed that peace was restored, Lyss said, “You have to promise me something.”

Without knowing what the request was, Lu Xingye readily agreed, “Okay, no problem.”

Instantly, Lu Xingye had a bad feeling. He swallowed nervously and asked, “What do you want me to do, Brother?”

Lyss handed the diary to Lu Xingye, “Read it.”

Lu Xingye, “…”

He widened his eyes in disbelief, “Now?”

Lyss nodded coldly, “Yes, now. Start reading.”

Great example of the dangers of constantly spoiling and accommodating children, for whatever reason. Boundaries.
Hate when people feel they have the right to judge the personal decisions of others, too.
What dark secrets do LX’s diary hold…
Thank you both for the chapter.
