Chapter 64: New Life

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Inside the room, the air was filled with the fragrance of tea and peaches, the sweetness almost thick enough to envelop one’s senses. The floor-to-ceiling window was partially covered by curtains, allowing sparse light to cast over the disorder within. Documents were scattered across the floor, and someone’s clothes hung from a suspended terminal.

The black wolf Alpha excitedly pressed against the person beneath him. His tail even wagged incessantly, almost yearning to be closer to the individual. amidst the Alpha’s excitement, Lyss’s emotions had already stabilized.

He slowly opened his eyes, subconsciously reaching for the nutrient solution at his side. As his hand touched it, a searing sensation arose. Pausing for a moment, he raised his gaze, only to see Lu Xingye looking at him with an excitement that was tinged with a hint of grievance.

Lyss could distinctly smell the rich tea fragrance emanating from Lu Xingye, observing the upper half of the other person’s body and the still-bleeding scratch marks. For the first time in his life, Lyss felt a sense of guilt. But quickly regaining his composure, he realized this wasn’t a moment for him to feel guilty.

“Brother—” Lu Xingye embraced Lyss’s waist, unabashedly leaning in for a kiss, the strong aroma of tea enveloping Lyss. “I still want more.”

Without knowing, one might have thought it was him entering an estrus period, not Lyss.

“…No.” Lyss, still affected by the aftermath of the estrus period, weakly pushed against Lu Xingye’s shoulder, firmly refusing. “The reproductive cavity has closed… rapidly. Congratulations, you win, little puppy.”

His voice contained a faint trace of amusement. Lu Xingye was momentarily stunned at his words, taking three seconds to realize their meaning.

“Why so soon?!” Lu Xingye exclaimed in disbelief. “It’s only been one night, and I’m leaving tomorrow. How could the estrus period end this quickly? I’m going to sue you for fraud!”

Saying this, he relentlessly leaned in for a kiss. Lyss chuckled, attempting to dodge but was caught, resulting in an affectionate kiss. Omega’s self-preservation mechanism ensured that, despite being affected by the strong alpha pheromones, Lyss remained clear-headed.

“It shouldn’t have been this short originally.” Lyss comfortingly kissed the corner of Alpha’s mouth that he had bitten. “Based on the code, it should have lasted at least five to seven days… Thanks to your efforts, it ended early. So, well done, little puppy.”

Finishing his words, Lyss lightly tapped Lu Xingye’s cheek, leaving him standing there in astonishment, followed by a regretful expression. “If I knew it would end so soon, I would have—!”

Lyss lazily pinched his ear. “You would have done what?”

Lu Xingye hesitated for a moment, then said in disappointment, “If I knew it would end so soon, I wouldn’t have entered.”

“Could you resist?” Lyss ruthlessly exposed him. “Like a puppy who hasn’t seen meat in eight hundred years.”

Lu Xingye defended himself, “Well, not eight hundred years, but five years. I’m only eighteen. It’s understandable for a husband to be a bit impatient with his wife.”

Raising an eyebrow, Lyss teased, “How old are you?”

Lu Xingye boldly claimed, “Eighteen.”

Lyss raised his hand to pinch his ear and asked, “Lin Lang is five. Are you really shameless enough to claim you’re eighteen, little puppy?”

Lu Xingye, seemingly confused, blinked, “Sir, your daughter is already that old?”

Lyss paused, nodded along with his words, and glanced at him. “What about it?”

Lu Xingye smiled, lowering his head to gently kiss the collarbone marked by kisses, softly murmuring, “Can I be your daughter’s stepfather?”

Lyss tilted his head back, letting him kiss, and after a while, lightly teased by pinching his ear. “Stepfather? Then what should I call the one in my belly?”

Lu Xingye’s expression blanked for a moment, suddenly realizing the issue now.

Surprised by his reaction, Lyss raised an eyebrow, “What’s on your mind?”

Lu Xingye snapped back to reality, quickly propping himself up from Lyss’s body, his gaze fixated on the person’s abdomen as if in a dream. Amused by his behavior, Lyss chuckled, pinching his cheek. “Did you never wonder why my estrus period ended so early?”

Lu Xingye felt like a fool. He hesitated, attempting to touch Lyss’s flat belly but stopping just before contact, afraid to cross a line. Seeing this, Lyss grabbed his hand and pressed it against his abdomen. Lu Xingye gasped, “W-will I… will I touch it?”

Shirtless, his strong muscles still bore fresh scratches and glistened with sweat. He resembled a hunting wolf, yet his eyes betrayed surprise and caution, a stark contrast. Lyss couldn’t help but joke, “Maybe it hasn’t even implanted yet. When Lin Lang was a month old, you didn’t fear anything, even entering the reproductive cavity—”

Before Lyss could finish speaking, Lu Xingye leaned down and kissed him, playfully whining, “I know I was wrong…”

With half-closed eyes, Lyss absentmindedly rubbed the person’s ears, feeling the warmth around his waist. He closed his eyes and murmured, “Half a day left… make the most of it.”

Lu Xingye’s breath hitched, looking up at him cautiously, “Is it okay?”

“Don’t go in.” Lyss held his face and kissed his brow and eyes. “Good little puppy, let me look at you a little longer.”

These words were a direct hit for the current Lu Xingye. His rationality had already been burnt away by Lyss’s potent pheromones during the estrus period, and being interrupted during such excitement was like adding fuel to the fire. Emotions that had been suppressed for a long time suddenly burst out, almost overwhelming Lyss, who was forced to end the estrus period prematurely.

By the time the commotion in the room settled, dusk had crept in. Outside the window, vast swathes of fiery clouds reflected the crimson sunlight, casting an eerie glow over the disorderly room.

“Thirsty…” Lyss pushed the person unwilling to leave his side. “Go fetch some water.”

The indulgent little wolf refused to leave his side. Thinking about their impending separation, Lyss felt a pang of reluctance and sighed lightly before kissing the other’s cheek. “Be obedient.”

Lu Xingye played with his tongue for a while before reluctantly getting up to fetch water for Lyss. Drinking a few sips of water from Lu Xingye’s hand, Lyss leaned against him with half-closed eyes, asking absentmindedly, “When exactly are you leaving?”

“Tomorrow morning at eight,” Lu Xingye, holding Lyss’s waist, pouted while kissing his temple. “Brother, I don’t want to leave.”

Lyss slightly opened his eyes, whispering softly while hooking his neck. “I don’t want you to leave either.”

Lu Xingye didn’t want to leave either. Hearing Lyss’s words, his displeasure was evident, resembling a sulking puppy. Intentionally diverting his attention, Lyss said, “You have nine months to think of a name for them.”

Lu Xingye was diverted by this, sounding surprised. “You’ll let me choose?”

“Of course,” Lyss replied.

“Is it a boy or a girl?” Lu Xingye eagerly asked before adding, belatedly, “Can you tell at this stage?”

Lyss shook his head. “Can’t tell for now. It’ll take at least a month to check from the code.”

“Oh… ” Lu Xingye seemed a little disappointed. “Then we’ll have to choose one for each gender.”

Curious, Lyss raised an eyebrow. “What names do you have in mind? Tell me.”

“If it’s a girl… Lin Xi,” Lu Xingye said almost instantly. “I haven’t thought of a name for a boy yet.”

Lyss instantly caught the implication behind his words. “You didn’t think about having a son?”

Suddenly exposed, Lu Xingye awkwardly rubbed his nose. “Did you have severe pregnancy symptoms when carrying Lin Lang? Did you vomit?”

“Not severe,” Lyss recalled, “hardly any vomiting, she was very good. Apart from a little more sleep and appetite, there wasn’t much else.”

Relieved, Lu Xingye asked with ambiguous intent, “How many months into the embryo transfer was Lin Lang?”

“About four months…” Lyss answered reflexively but abruptly stopped halfway, staring at Lu Xingye without blinking. “What’s wrong?”

Lu Xingye’s gaze kept drifting to Lyss’s abdomen. “Four months… How big?”

Suddenly understanding his implication, Lyss gave him a significant look and gestured a subtle curve in front of his body. “About this big.”

Lu Xingye snapped out of his reverie and couldn’t help but touch Lyss’s small abdomen. “Isn’t it supposed to grow larger at four months?”

“How big do you want it to be at four months?” Lyss chuckled, pushing away his hand. “What’s with the question? Do you prefer it larger?”

Caught off guard, Lu Xingye rubbed his nose and bent down to kiss Lyss’s nose. “As long as it’s you, I like it any way.”

Lyss pinched his ear. “You little trickster.”

The little trickster took pride in it, burying his head affectionately. The final night fell, and the departing lovers entwined under the moonlight, reminiscent of pre-apocalyptic intimacy.

The next morning, Lyss opened his eyes on time. The office, which had been a mess the night before, was now clean and bright, with an eerie emptiness.

“Little puppy?” Lyss said instinctively.

As soon as the words left his mouth, Lu Xingye entered with breakfast. “Good morning, Brother.”

Lyss instantly relaxed, but soon realized they were about to part ways. His emotions hadn’t yet recovered before plummeting again. Lu Xingye understood Lyss’s thoughts at a glance. He didn’t say anything but just held Lyss, feeding him bit by bit. “While I’m away these days, remember to eat well.”

Lyss softly acknowledged, “Mm, I’ll try.”

“Don’t just try.” Lu Xingye persistently urged, “Promise me to eat well.”

Unable to resist his persistence, Lyss nodded. “Okay.”

Pausing for a moment, he looked at Lu Xingye and said, “You have to promise me too, no risking yourself, remember someone is waiting for you.”

“Anyone would think I’m off to sell organs in the market.” Lu Xingye chuckled before getting a light tap. He immediately changed his tune, “Okay, I promise.”

Lyss softened and kissed his lips. “I want my little puppy to come back whole and healthy.”

This author really is like someone who can’t wait for the person receiving their gift, to unwrap it!
I feel a little sorry for Lin Lang, not having had her father around for so long. I hope there’s no jealousy!
Thank you both for the chapter.
