Chapter 8: Temporary Mark

Lyss spoke directly and acted openly. He was wearing only that thin white shirt, with his fair neck exposed without any defense. He looked inviting, with a straight back leading to a faintly visible narrow waistline. At this moment, Lyss looked like an omega without offensive capabilities as if apart from his intellect and beauty, he had no self-protection ability. He resembled a tempting fruit, ripe with maturity, seeming to burst with juice at a single bite.
Lu Xingye knew all of this was an illusion, but he was akin to a moth drawn to a flame. Humans are complex creatures, they might know the fruit is poisonous, yet they still indulge in it. Faced with this temptation, Lu Xingye’s Adam’s apple bobbed once, a drop of sweat trickling down his neck into his collar.
“Okay.” It took a while for Lu Xingye to respond, his voice already hoarse. “If I bite too hard, please let me know.”
Lyss didn’t speak, only offering a short nasal response.
After a moment, there was still no movement from Lu Xingye behind. Lyss couldn’t help but turn slightly to see what he was hesitating about. In the next second, a hand firmly grasped his waist from behind.
Lyss’ eyes widened abruptly. No one had touched his waist in all these years, except for necessary medical check-ups. The tingling sensation mixed with a slight itch made him feel something uncontrollable surging from deep within. Almost instinctively, Lyss tried to lift his hand to control the one gripping his waist. The person behind seemed to predict his move, deftly catching his wrist and pinning it behind him. Then, using a knee, the person pressed him against the back of the sofa.
“You…” The posture made Lyss experience an unprecedented feeling of restraint. He wanted to say something but felt a rush of warmth spraying against the back of his neck. He shivered almost imperceptibly, then a sharp pain mixed with an irresistible sensation came from the back of his neck.
“â!” A substantial amount of alpha pheromone was injected into his glands. With Lyss’ top-tier omega physique, he didn’t feel the typical oppression from being marked. However, other sensations were more than present, and due to his high compatibility with Lu Xingye, these sensations were amplified by more than twofold.
Pain couldn’t defeat a warrior, but other things could.
Lyss bit his lip, steadying himself in his mind. He tried to rely on willpower to calm down but his golden eyes still betrayed a hint of turbulence. Lu Xingye’s injected pheromone was exhausted by Lyss’ glands and dissipated like a stone thrown into the sea. Thus, the marking session lasted for a long time.
Nearly losing his rationality, Lyss’ golden eyes seem almost scattered. It felt like a century had passed, longer than his time spent in cryogenic sleep. Lu Xingye keenly felt a slight tremor from the narrow waist beneath him. Apart from that, the person in his embrace showed no other reaction.
Unfortunately, Lu Xingye couldn’t see his eyes.
With a sense of regret, Lu Xingye gently released the soft flesh in his mouth. But before parting, he couldn’t resist bending down and giving the wound a light lick.
“â!!” This action was like a drop of water splashing into a hot oil pan. The pain from the bite could be endured, but the soothing from the tongue felt like the finest liquor. Lyss’ pupils contracted sharply. He almost bit his lip until it bled, preventing any sound from escaping.
Lu Xingye suddenly realized what he had just done. Feeling somewhat guilty, he didn’t have time to think about why he couldn’t smell any of Lyssâ pheromones after the marking.
But just as Lu Xingye thought of sitting up and saying something to cover up, he felt a tremendous force. The next moment, Lyss’ right hand suddenly broke free from his restraint and reversed, gripping his neck and pressing him onto the sofa.
Lu Xingye took 0.1 second to contemplate whether to resist. After all, receiving a hit after taking advantage was fair game. Besides, his resistance might be entirely ineffective. He gave up the next second because to prevent Lu Xingye from standing up, Lyss loosened his grip and immediately sat on his lap. For a moment, Lu Xingye felt like he was back in the arena on that day. He abruptly lifted his gaze, meeting those familiar golden eyes looking down on him.
This time, it was evident that Lyss showed some mercy. Moreover, those eyes, which should have been cold and calm, now had ripplesâlike they had just cried. The dominant look from above, coupled with the slightly disheveled shirt, was a lethal combination for a young, inexperienced alpha like Lu Xingye.
…Trouble! Lu Xingye’s expression stiffened for a moment. He immediately tried to sit up, but Lyss, to prevent him from getting up, released his grip and sat firmly on his hips. Lu Xingye, feeling overwhelmed by the unnatural beauty so close to him, couldn’t bear such an intense observation.
“Sorry, I just lost control…” Lu Xingye nervously averted his gaze, speaking somewhat incoherently.
“It’s okay, I just wanted you to come to your senses, no blame intended.” Seeing him regain composure, Lyss attempted to shift a bit to get off him. As they moved, both stopped in their tracks.
Lu Xingye, uneasy due to his heavily bitten lower lip, had an inexplicable feeling when he thought about it.Â
Much later, Lyss realized he had simply found the little dog in his home cute in that moment.
Early the next day, Lyss heard the same commotion as the previous day, and today’s noise seemed even richer. As expected, today’s breakfast was more lavish than yesterday’s. Lu Xingye, sitting at the table, gave the same explanation, “Sorry, I couldn’t control myself while marking you yesterday. Consider this meal as an apology.”
“It’s okay,” Lyss said, but after silently taking a sip of the porridge Lu Xingye had cooked, he suddenly felt that being bitten and licked didn’t seem like a big deal if he could eat this kind of meal every day. However Lyss was taken aback when he realized what he was thinking. Desire shouldn’t have anything to do with him, especially physical desire. What was happening to him?
Seeing Lyss pause, Lu Xingye couldn’t help but ask, “Is it not good?”
“No, it’s very good. Before I met you, I never knew porridge could taste this good,” Lyss shook his head after regaining his senses, “I’ve troubled you these past two days.”
Lyss never praised people beforehand, and Lu Xingye almost choked on the porridge. He waved his hand quickly, “Before I forget, I haven’t paid the rent yet. Can you open your terminal so I can transfer the money to you?”
After some thought, Lyss said, “These two breakfasts would be invaluable anywhere outside Serica. So, just pay two-thirds of the rent.”
Lu Xingye found it unbelievable. “…Just two breakfasts, is it worth that much?”
“It is to me.”
Lu Xingye tried to argue but insisted on paying market price. Seeing this, Lyss said, “In that case, you can make breakfast for a few more days.”
Lu Xingye, taken aback, joked, “So, were you waiting until I brought up the rent for this reason? Might the Chief be falling in love with my cooking skills?”
Lyss honestly nodded, “Yes.”
Originally just joking, Lu Xingye was at a loss for words in the face of Lyss’ sincerity. “…Alright, I’ll make breakfast for a few more days,” Lu Xingye sighed, half in jest. “It’s an honor to receive your approval.”
After breakfast, a few newly appointed bodyguards were already waiting outside in a spaceship. Both of them took the ship to the Triss Federation headquarters. A light blue floating board hovered in the air, forming a pale sea amidst the bustling people. Various departments were scattered in different areas, resembling a scattered chessboard.
Lillia was waiting at Lyss’ office door early on.
“Lu Xingye will be my personal secretary from today, and his salary will be funded from my account,” Lyss instructed Lillia as they walked to the office. “Take him to Luna to register his information and instruct her to remove Vayne from the guard.”
Lillia had excellent professional ethics. Upon hearing this, unlike other guards showing surprise, she simply responded, “Yes.”
Lu Xingye had no idea that on his first day, he would become a secretary. He was still in a daze when Lillia took him away.
Lyss started his usual work routine upon sitting down. He skimmed through two days of interstellar news on his rest days, then had meetings with a dozen officials. It was only at noon when he paused from the busy work, realizing he seemed to have forgotten something. “Where’s Lu Xingye?”
Just as he asked, there was a knock on the door, and Lillia’s somewhat flustered voice came from outside. “Chief… your alpha, Lieutenant Colonel Cheno, and Major Nicky seem to have started a fight.”
Lyss didn’t refute her words and, rather than being anxious, he lowered his head and resumed looking at the documents. “I understand.”
Lillia was a bit puzzled but didn’t say much.
Lyss calculated the time and stood up, saying, “Where are they?”
Lillia quickly led him over. As they reached a storeroom’s entrance, there was a loud noise from around the corner. Instead of rushing there immediately, Lyss looked around the area first. There shouldn’t be any blind spots in headquarters’ surveillance. Last week, the Education Department had borrowed the mobile surveillance from around the corner, leaving it temporarily blind.
After contemplating for a moment, Lyss probably understood the situation. He stepped forward. Upon reaching the corner, he saw two high-ranking officials lying on the ground, in identical positions. If this scene were captured, it would undoubtedly cause a stir on the interstellar network.
Lu Xingye stood nearby, looking at them coldly. Hearing footsteps from the other end of the corridor, he abruptly turned his head.
As if he hadn’t seen the two on the ground, Lyss just looked at Lu Xingye and asked, “What happened?”
“Chief, I just finished registering information and passed by here accidentally,” Lu Xingye’s previously cold demeanor suddenly turned innocent, “But these two gentlemen suddenly insulted my character and even attempted violence against me.”
Lu Xingye frowned slightly as he spoke. Young and exceptionally handsome, his tone was innocent and helpless, making him seem somewhat pitiful.
The two men who had just been beaten by him were stunned by Lu Xingye’s acting. Who had used violence? How could this young man turn the tables like this?!
Author’s note:
Tea, don’t you understand the value of Green Tea’s novel and its frenzy over the young dog 1?
Chief (pondering): I don’t quite understand for now.
But everyone who’s experienced it next door praised it, right?
Chief: Indeed, but my family has a little sweet dog, not a crazy one.

I like LX; a perfect balance for Lyss. Neither to be messed with đ€
Thank you both for the chapter.
I enjoy whatâs on the breakfast menu đđ»đ
