Chapter 19: Backstabbing

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

“Is this the–“

“That famous ancient imperial leapfrog scout fighter, the Pierce.”

Xie Shuci was standing on the windward side, looking up at the somewhat old-looking but superbly crafted fighter in the acceleration lane – one that he had only seen in textbooks and limited-access documentaries.

Today Xie Shuci was wearing a thick beige jacket with fleece and a light blue scarf that covered almost half of his face.

Under Xie Shuci’s arched eyebrows were a pair of very warm and elegant eyes.

Xie Shuci’s skin was white, like a buttercream with a sweet, moist hue.

–He looked so happy.

Ming Huan, who was only half a hand shorter than him, suddenly noticed that in recent months, Xie Shuci seemed to have grown a lot taller.

When he got closer, he realized that he was only up to the tip of Xie Shuci’s nose.

ā€˜Wuuu.’

He thought again of Yu Hanzhou stuffing him with meat every day and saying that he was short.

In this place where there were alpha officers everywhere, the young omega who didn’t wear a uniform was particularly conspicuous.

Ming Huan gave the uniform to Xie Shuci, and went first to the war machine for debugging. He also remembered to take care of Xie Shuci as he was afraid of thin uniforms that were too cold, and he took a thick beige coat on his hand. Xie Shuci came up to him to put it on, ” Okay, we are off.”

Xie Shuci turned his head and swept the collar of his coat over his shoulder.

“Hmm.”

ā€˜Xie Shuci was so well behaved, ah.’

“You are really good and very talented. You will definitely be a very good battleship designer for sure, believe me.”

ā€˜Your future graduation work is a leap mecha! You’re a genius!’

ā€˜Just because you are an omega, you can’t lose too many opportunities to get in touch with leap mecha.’

Ming Huan took Xie Shuci’s hand to let him touch the joystick, feel over a few buttons, and the debug screen before he even started the fighter.

“Ming Huan. No one told me that an omega can also become a warship designer, that an omega can also, on such a rare leapfrog ancient warplane, you are the first. Thank you, Ming Huan.” Xie Shuci’s eyes were a little red, making him look pitiful, “I think, the biggest luck in my life is that I matched with you. After I differentiate, I will also keep learning until I become a qualified battleship designer.” Xie Shuci wiped away a little wetness from the corner of his eyes, “I will become one, an omega that matches you.”

Ming Huan laughed, “You don’t have to become an omega to match me. You just have to be who you want to be.”

ā€˜I hope you can be free from the shackles of omega status.’

ā€˜Be brave and go after the life that you want.’

In his last life, Ming Huan and Xie Shuci were very much alike, but he had lived a life where no one had ever protected him in this way. In this life, after being reborn as an alpha, he hoped that Xie Shuci, who was born as an omega but carried many shackles, could live his life happily and comfortably, if possible.

“What about you?” Xie Shuci asked.

Ming Huan’s hand were on the control bar, “I also- I want to live the life that I like.”

“And what kind of life do you like?” Xie Shuci murmured, seemingly confused and testing him, “Is it being a commander?”

“Actually, I’m not sure. But, at least now I feel like I have to be free.” Ming Huan pushed the joystick forward constantly, “Just like the control of the warplane now, I also want to have full power to decide my life, to hold the future in my hands only.”

The plane slowly left the ground.

With Ming Huan’s fine white hands flying to adjust the parameters, the plane went up.

“So in your future, do you have a wedding plan?” Xie Shuci grabbed a corner of the trench coat and rubbed it until itcrumpled. He did not know if it was because of a short period of weightlessness and pressure regulation, but his heart was beating very violently, “Admiral Yu does not seem to plan on marrying, and as a white feathered dragon, he is very fond of living alone, very… free.”

Xie Shuci spoke very meekly, and one by one, words popped out a little hard.

“I’d die laughing.” Ming Huan said carelessly while adjusting the parameters and preparing for the leap in three minutes, “You think Yu Hanzhou is not married because he likes freedom? That’s because he can’t find a husband.”

The overly straightforward hard dislike, Xie Shuci listened to it all and froze.

“I am definitely going to marry a young omega.” Ming Huan grinned heartlessly, “I’m looking forward to getting married. The other person doesn’t have to be very good or pretty, just compatible. If possible, I would also love to have a child – er, I mean, an egg, and then a family of hatching eggs…. Oh, that’s too far.” Ming Huan also seemed a little embarrassed.

“It’s not far.” Xie Shuci lowered his head, “It’s not far at all.”

If he and Ming Huan get married, and Ming Huan likes children, then it’s not impossible for them to just have an egg after they graduate next year….

Xie Shuci thought about this while turning on the light screen in the auxiliary pilot seat and helping Ming Huan adjust the leap preparation operation.

The entire fuselage trembled as a thunderbolt ripped through the front section of Capital Star’s fighter, and Ming Huan had no time to chat with Xie Shuci, as his face became focused and serious.

His hands were fast enough, and many buttons were pressed in unison to automatically begin the adjustment of the parameters to ensure the maximum degree of safety for the leap.

Xie Shuci suddenly shrunk into vertical pupils. He turned his head to Ming Huan, “You–“

As if headlong into the burning iron furnace, the fuselage instantly seemed to twist upside down and crashed into that one gap.

When Xie Shuci slowly opened his eyes again, they were already in the ambiguous section of District 18, the border between the Empire and Federation.

“Very good, very accurate.” Ming Huan clenched his fist roughly, “Scared to death, thought it would be a little off.”

Ming Huan’s attention was on the surface of the planet that was coming closer and closer in front of him and getting bigger and bigger.

“What a beautiful rare mining star.” He began to get ready for landing procedures, Ming Huan turned his head and said, “You do not need to go down, I am mainly here to dig some rare energy stones to bring back – now this is still a black star, but the location is too delicate. The empire will definitely fight, before the interstellar court opens, let’s poke around the depths and bring some rare energy stones back to monitor and analyze to see if this star is worthy of war with the empire.”

Ming Huan changed into a special protective suit, with a rain and snow shield on his wrist to mitigate 95% of the gale underneath.

After releasing the little robot, he let it dig into the ground and it brought back one beautiful energy stone after another. The little robot looked like it was only the size of a fist, but when it finally came back with almost a sack of energy stones, Ming Huan thought the little guy was simply too good at his job!

He reached out to pick it up, and he felt that the energy stones looked familiar.

Ming Huan clutched the energy stones in his hand and turned on the searchlight to take a closer look.

ā€˜How does this seem….’

It looked so much like the energy stone that he used to repair the warplane last time.

Ming Huan quickly reacted, “Shuci, this black star has been discovered by the Empire! Let’s get out of here!”

ā€˜We have already collected a whole bag of energy stones, enough for research.’

Ming Huan took off his protective suit and scrambled into the driver’s seat, “Sit tight, I’m leaving now.”

“Wait a minute.” Xie Shuci stopped Ming Huan’s operation and observed the surroundings, “This warplane is the ancient empire from fourteen hundred years ago, the most admirable of the detection warplanes as its ranked in the top three. Ming Huan, it has an open defense mechanism that automatically avoids the territory within the range of the detector. That means we were able to land successfully because there were no detection devices placed on this planet at all.”

Ming Huan also found it strange.

The other side obviously found this black star first, and if they knew the value of this planet and wanted to fight for it, then they should have set up some detectors.

“They may be near the planet.”

“A leapfrog chaser type warplane was arranged.”

“In that case, if we sneak up on this black planet before the Empire and get caught by a pursuit-type warplane, then the verdict in the interstellar court will be greatly in the Empire’s favor. But don’t you worry, the empire’s current hunter-type fighters are not good, and don’t seem to be able to make the leap, so we just have to fly up and make a successful leap to whatever sector we leap to, and we’ll definitely be able to successfully shake it off.” Xie Shuci said at one end, and at the other end, he flew through the restricted data analysis to constantly check to see if the Empire had a suitable model that could handle the Pierce they were currently flying.

ā€˜Nope.’

ā€˜There was.’

ā€˜The Empire had a hunter jumper.’

It was like Ming Huan’s brain had suddenly snapped open….

ā€˜I just fixed one a few days ago.’

ā€˜It turned out that the person who came to him to repair the fighter was not a group of star pirates, but someone from the Empire!’

“Empire ZL598, I just took an order on the StarNet anonymous trading space ten days ago, and it was the Pursuit type that was repaired. They also asked for a tight schedule at the time, I thought it was from the Imperial side….”

Xie Shuci breathed a sigh of relief.

“You fixed it?”

“I fixed it.”

“…. Why fix it, who in their right mind can afford to take an ancient war machine of this caliber.”

“I thought it was a star pirate, they quoted 10 million star coins, but, but it was high….” Ming Huan said more and more in vain.

Xie Shuci looked at him, silent for a moment, “Are you that short of money?”

“Nonsense, when am I not short of money?”

Xie Shuci pulled out the internal information of the Empire that he had just found and enlarged it in front of Ming Huan’s eyes, “It’s actually true. Just seven days ago, the Empire announced that it had a new hunter chasing type leap fighter, stored in the Royal Battleship Starport…. The value is one billion and two hundred million star coins.”

ā€˜1, 1.2 billion?’

Ming Huan looked at the Empire’s internal news.

ā€˜MAD?!’

ā€˜I fixed a 300 million broken thing for you, now it’s worth 1.2 billion, and you’re only paying me 10 million?!’

ā€˜Ah no.’

ā€˜What’s even more fucked up is that you used repaired warplane I repaired to backstab me?’

Ming Huan exploded.

ā€˜Motherfucker, do you hear me, Motherfucker!’

“Ming Huan, what do we do now? Send a letter to Capital Star asking for support? If we wait and our whereabouts are discovered, then this could result in an interstellar court trial at our disadvantage. How about just stirring things up now and having a fight first?”

Xie Shuci’s face looked a little off, and the tone of his voice was a little strange. It was as if he was very uneasy about the current circumstances triggering some chain reaction. His breathing was all messy, and his face was unexpectedly red.

Ming Huan hurriedly touched his forehead, “What’s wrong, do you have a fever?”

Xie Shuci shook his head.

Ming Huan observed the situation around him while making preparations to start the work. The sound of Xie Shuci’s breathing around him is getting louder and louder, as if some kind of response should be triggered. Surprisingly, there is a kind of ragged feeling of not being able to breathe.

Biting his lower lip, he suddenly said, “I think….”

“It’s like, I’m differentiating….”

ā€˜I’m differentiating.’

ā€˜Now?’

Ming Huan’s face suddenly changed, and he took out the medical bag from the accompanying space, “Here are an inhibitor and isolator, you-“

ā€˜No, the inhibitor he brought was for alphas, and the isolating agent could only isolate Xie Shuci’s effect on alpha pheromone, not undo Xie Shuci’s own pheromone disorder.’

“I, brought, omega inhibitor. Ming Huan, you push an isolator for yourself first, so that, after I differentiate, you won’t smell the pheromone and it won’t trigger…. Differentiation syndrome…. I’m sorry, I’m the one who caused you trouble, I….”

Ming Huan had already handed him his medical bag along with Xie Shuci’s while he was talking intermittently. There was only a shot of isolate, and after giving him a shot, Ming Huan put his hand on the control bar, “Shuci, don’t talk. I’m the one who gave you a fright, maybe because of this, you differentiated in advance. Don’t worry, I’ll take you home now.”

Ming Huan quickly pointed to start the warplane.

The warplane slowly left the ground.

Ming Huan asked the small robot to put away the pile of energy stones into the space.

“Don’t do it hard….”

Xie Shuci’s voice gradually rasped before it was followed by only a ragged gasp. Ming Huan heard the sound of heavy objects falling to the ground.

“Shuci, hurry up and shoot the inhibitor, don’t you worry about anything else. I can get rid of it.”

Before the fighter could take off, a small rift suddenly tore open in the sky followed by a small leapfrog chaser appearing out of thin air. Not far behind it was an even larger starship that was visually expected to reach their location in less than ten minutes.

That starship was special for anti-detection, and had the special ability of [area limitation].

That was to say, it could target a certain area so that it could not start leapfrogging activities from that far.

The combination of this starship and the hunting fighter was two of them.

Many more bright lights suddenly appeared in the dark universe, illuminating the sky above as bright as day.

It made people’s palms sweat.

“Ming Huan, surrender first. Wait for the Empire and Federation to make peace.” Xie Shuci felt that things were not too good and one hand gripped on Ming Huan’s seat. His finger bones were gripped so hard that they turned white, “Don’t take any chances, this time it’s our plane…. Admiral Yu will not blame you. Before leaving he also said this is a covert mission…. Once, once discovered to be an emergency evacuation. Now the situation is not as simple as being discovered….”

The other side came prepared.

Xie Shuci’s words were very difficult to say.

His face also turned from red to white, as if he was holding back something.

The omega inhibitor didn’t seem to have an effect on him yet, as he felt that his body was full of dryness and depression. Every inch of his bones were aching. Staggering, he raised his hand and took out another shot of omega inhibitor from his medical bag.

“Ming Huan, you must listen to me. Give up your resistance and surrender this time.” Xie Shuci spoke euphemistically, rarely using a commanding tone like this, “Don’t be impulsive….”

Oh dear, not good. What will MH do?
I’ve a feeling he’s going to meet the guy who hired him, again.
Will they be held for ransom of some kind? Or will they want his skills 😬
I hope he will risk it, try outmanoeuvring them to escape, and succeed.
For someone who knows Xie Shuci loves him and sees himself as supporting omegas, he’s thoughtlessly cruel to XS with the things he says about his future.
Thank you for the chapter.
