Chapter 40: Three Little Jis

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Karai

After hearing Ji Jin’s words, Lu Yao stared blankly at the person in front of him, stunned for a long time before finally digesting those four short sentences. Although he had already guessed before that Ji Jin was probably pregnant and that the child might be his, he never imagined it was twins.

He lowered his head to look at Ji Jin’s belly, imagining that two little lives were already there. These two little babies were still very small now, and would slowly grow up, probably as adorable as Ji Xingxing, looking like miniature versions of Ji Jin.

It was as if there were now three little Jis in total.

What should have been a joyful thing, however, Lu Yao couldn’t feel happy.

“Brother…” Lu Yao’s voice was hoarse and choked, like thousands of words were stuck in his throat, making him unable to say anything.

But he knew he had to speak.

“What is it?” Ji Jin, sharp and perceptive, could clearly feel a moment of joy in the other’s eyes, but what he now showed was not that.

“The children… don’t… keep them.” Lu Yao suddenly lowered his head, not even daring to look at Ji Jin. When he said those words, it felt like his heart was being torn apart, the pain making his chest twitch.

He also wanted to have children with his brother, to have a little baby as cute as Ji Xingxing.

Ji Jin hadn’t expected Lu Yao to say such words; he was slightly stunned. His first reaction was disbelief. He knew Lu Yao liked him — he had liked him for three years. If he liked him, why wouldn’t he want to keep these two children?

Especially now, in Lu Yao’s eyes, Ji Xingxing wasn’t even his child. He was willing to accept a child that wasn’t his, but not the children about to be born that were his own?

Ji Jin found this impossible to understand.

“Why… don’t you want them?” Ji Jin couldn’t help but ask. He instinctively touched his belly, though he still couldn’t feel the babies inside. But the gesture gave him a sense of security. “If you lose these children, it might be a long time before you can have another. Even worse, a miscarriage could damage the body, and Omegas would find it very hard to get pregnant again.”

Though Ji Jin was a man, he was also an Omega. Omegas naturally loved children. Except for a few rare cases, almost all Omegas couldn’t refuse the birth of life. For them, miscarriage was almost devastating, something they simply could not bear.

Lu Yao was silent for a long while. The room was quiet, but the atmosphere was tense, like a drawn bow ready to shoot.

“But brother… what about your career?” When Lu Yao looked up again, his eyes were red. “Do you know how old you are this year? Almost twenty-four. A professional player’s prime years are so few, and you’ve already retired for three years during your best time as a player. Now, are you planning to retire again?”

“Even if you don’t retire, a pregnant Omega’s body weakens a lot. How would the team see you? Brother, you know how much pregnancy can harm the body. After you give birth and come back, will you still be able to maintain your current level?” Lu Yao’s voice trembled, his eyes so red that his voice nearly choked with emotion.

He wanted his brother to keep the children; this was his best chance to bind him. Like a piece of meat dangling before a starving traveler who hadn’t eaten for years, desperately wanting to swallow it whole.

But now, being asked to give up that long-coveted meat, and even to stomp it into the mud, was just too hard for him.

Children could come again, but those precious years as a pro player were too rare. He couldn’t let his brother give them up because of him and the kids.

“But what if I insist on keeping them?” Ji Jin’s gaze was firm and bold. He stood in front of Lu Yao, forcing him to look directly into his eyes. “These are my children, Lu Yao. They’re inside me, and as long as they’re still here, I won’t give up.”

“As for playing, I believe I can still do this job even while pregnant. I won’t let the team or the matches down.” Ji Jin pointed a long, slender finger at Lu Yao, his eyes fierce and resolute. “If you don’t want them, then the children and I… have nothing to do with you.”

Ji Jin was truly angry this time. If it had been his first pregnancy, he might not have felt the little lives inside, and maybe under Lu Yao’s persuasion, he could have considered terminating the pregnancy. But now, having Ji Xingxing, knowing how precious a little baby was, he absolutely could not harm them.

“Brother!” Lu Yao’s voice grew a bit panicked. He didn’t know whether Ji Jin was just angry or truly serious. He had heard that male Omegas, although men, became overflowing with maternal love after pregnancy, and he was afraid Ji Jin would really cut ties with him if he got angrier.

“Don’t talk to me!” Ji Jin had already been tired from playing all day. Now, with babies inside and thoroughly upset, he didn’t want to say anything else.

He simply went to the bathroom to wash up and change into pajamas, then lay down to sleep, leaving Lu Yao beside him, ignoring whatever he said.

At first, Lu Yao tried again to talk about how pregnancy affected the game. Seeing Ji Jin not responding, his heart grew anxious and flustered. Then he tried to act innocent and pitiful to win sympathy, but Ji Jin still ignored him. Finally, Lu Yao had no choice but to act cute and beg for a hug — only to be pushed aside by Ji Jin with a slap.

Ji Jin finished washing up, lay down on the bed, and closed his eyes to sleep. His sleepiness came quickly, and half-asleep, he didn’t push Lu Yao away but allowed him to stay in the hotel room.

Seeing Ji Jin fall asleep, Lu Yao felt extremely anxious. However, he couldn’t disturb Ji Jin’s rest, so he kept silent, finished his washing up, and quietly moved to lie beside Ji Jin.

Ji Jin slept soundly and peacefully, though even in his dreams his brow remained furrowed, as if he was worried about something. His hand rested on his lower belly, as if guarding the small lives inside.

Lu Yao carefully shifted to Ji Jin’s side. The hotel bed was a spring mattress, and any movement made the whole mattress shake. Not daring to disturb Ji Jin, Lu Yao moved slowly, inching closer until he could secretly pull Ji Jin into his arms.

Ji Jin muttered softly in discontent, the sound exactly like Ji Xingxing’s when he was asleep. Looking at this, Lu Yao’s heart softened, almost making him smile. He slowly released a bit of his alpha pheromones — the best comfort for a pregnant omega.

Sure enough, Ji Jin sniffed the scent and lazily buried himself in Lu Yao’s arms, like a fragile but proud little kitten, making Lu Yao want to gently bite his neck.

Lu Yao comforted Ji Jin, feeling deeply satisfied himself. The omega he adored was carrying his children and sleeping peacefully in his embrace. His hand quietly slid inside Ji Jin’s shirt, gently stroking the soft flesh on his belly.

There would be one or even two tiny lives growing there — the blood and bones that merged from him and his brother, who would grow to look like both of them. Such a fusion could never be separated.

And his brother was even willing to keep the children despite his strong opposition.

Lu Yao was incredibly happy, yet his heart was anxious and uncertain. He himself wavered about whether to keep these two children; how could he truly stop his brother?

He sighed deeply, telling himself to take one step at a time.

If he had to choose, he would still choose his brother without hesitation, rather than the children.

Only a small night lamp glowed in the room, casting a dim yellow light on Ji Jin’s sleeping face. Lu Yao pulled him closer toward himself, letting their shadows merge into the shape of a couple sleeping together.

At that moment, Lu Yao wished time could freeze forever.

The next morning, Ji Jin woke up early, feeling groggy and half-asleep. As soon as he moved, he realized he was trapped in Lu Yao’s arms. The furry head resting on his shoulder in a classic spoiled pose.

Ji Jin felt extremely aggrieved. He was already carrying one child inside, raising Ji Xingxing, and now this big dog puppy was sleeping in his arms, still suckling the milk.

He was still angry at Lu Yao from last night and, feeling sore from Lu Yao’s weight, kicked him off the bed with a strong shove.

Lu Yao had been pretending to sleep in Ji Jin’s arms, wanting to wake up and act cute, but he was unexpectedly sent flying to the floor by the kick.

“Brother!” Lu Yao got up from the floor, still sleepy and wanting to tease Ji Jin, but Ji Jin was already fully awake and headed straight to wash up without a word.

Yesterday was the last match for the MOE team in G city. Today, MOE was flying directly to C city, while the IKW team stayed in G for the last two weeks of matches.

After those final two weeks, the regular season would end, followed by a week’s rest before the playoffs began. The playoffs would include the top eight teams from the regular season, selecting four teams for the finals.

Although MOE had basically secured a playoff spot, they could not relax. Zhao Ze had reminded everyone to fly early to C city to adapt and improve their form.

So, on the second day after Lu Yao’s arrival, Ji Jin flew away. Due to the conflict about the child, Ji Jin and Lu Yao didn’t say a single word to each other before Ji Jin left.

Even when Lu Yao came to see him off at the airport, he was cold and resolute, frightening everyone.

The happiest that day was Zhao Ze. He thought the fresh and tender little cabbage at home had finally escaped from the grasp of the enemy’s big boar and wouldn’t be ‘gored’ anymore. But then he thought that the cabbage was already tainted and was carrying a whole litter of little piglets, so he wasn’t that happy — he felt heartbroken instead.

However, his heartbreak didn’t last long because Zhao Ze got hit again.

When the MOE team arrived in C city that day, Jiao Yue from the TAO team personally picked them up at the airport.

TAO and MOE teams were from opposite ends of the country and rarely crossed paths. There was no real friendship between the teams, and in e-sports, teams were competitors, so friendship was rare.

Now Jiao Yue coming to pick up Ji Jin was clearly because he had his eyes on the fresh, tender, sweet cabbage at home — God Ji! Another unknown pig trying to ‘gore’ his cabbage!

Compared to Zhao Ze’s tight defense, Ji Jin didn’t mind at all. He had already explained to Jiao Yue and considered himself innocent, feeling no need to avoid suspicion. Besides, he really wanted to find a ‘father’ for the babies in his belly.

But just because Ji Jin and Jiao Yue didn’t mind didn’t mean others didn’t care. That night, marketing accounts stirred up rumors — Jiao Yue picked Ji Jin up at the airport, the two secretly met, and the lonely Alpha and Omega developed feelings.

Lu Yao, far away in G city, didn’t sleep all night after seeing this news.

Author’s Note:

Ji Jin: Lu Yao didn’t love me, damn it, he loved the version of me playing games.
