Chapter 46: Photo Aftereffects

Lu Yao was still immersed in his commentary, completely unaware of Ke Yu’s actions.
But the other teammates were different. Listening to commentary and reviewing games was actually quite tiring—no one was like Captain Lu, who could talk for half a day without feeling tired.
And today was different too. Yu Huanhuan was almost leaning on the table; Captain Lu wasn’t just unfazed—he was spirited and energetic. She was bored and trying hard not to fall asleep when she saw Ke Yu staring blankly at a photo.
What photo was that? Yu Huanhuan was a bit far away but craned her neck to take a look.
A photo of Ji Xingxing? Yu Huanhuan nearly rolled her eyes. Did Manager Ke like kids that much? Did he have to look at Ji Xingxing’s photo even during commentary?
But she hadn’t thought it was that simple. When she saw the words “Lu Yao two-year-old commemoration” written above the photo, she instantly froze in place.
No way, no way, twins couldn’t possibly look that alike! Yu Huanhuan rubbed her eyes, thinking maybe her vision was playing tricks on her. She frantically tapped He Sheng beside her. He Sheng didn’t understand what was wrong with Yu Huanhuan and was completely unaware of the seriousness. He glanced at Yu Huanhuan… then saw the photo in Ke Yu’s hand.
He Sheng: !!!
Immediately, He Sheng tapped Hu Li, and Hu Li tapped Zhao Changyu.
Within a minute, all the teammates except Lu Yao had crowded around Ke Yu, startling him so much he nearly jumped.
The loud commotion finally caught Lu Yao’s attention. He furrowed his brows and slowly walked over to them, then reached out to snatch the photo from Ke Yu’s hand, his voice serious: “The playoffs are coming soon, what are you all doing?”
Then he looked down at the photo in his hand and immediately froze.
At first glance, he thought it was a photo of Ji Xingxing, but he remembered he didn’t have any photos of Ji Xingxing—it was clearly a casual snapshot, not one Ke Yu had secretly taken and printed.
Then he saw the seven large characters above: “Lu Yao two-year-old commemoration.”
At that moment, Lu Yao thought he must be seeing things. He rubbed his eyes, his heart pounding wildly.
This photo shouldn’t have been in his hands. All his childhood photos were with Mother Lu. Maybe earlier… Mother Lu had slipped it into his clothes… or maybe Lu Zhi had done it.
But who put it there wasn’t important. What mattered was that Ji Xingxing and he looked… too much alike. So alike that Lu Yao himself could hardly believe it. Given the degree of similarity in this photo…
Ji Xingxing was very likely… his child. He was… Ji Xingxing’s Alpha father!?
The thought left Lu Yao momentarily breathless.
“Captain Lu? Captain Lu…?” Yu Huanhuan saw Lu Yao staring so intently at the photo that his eyes went blank. She cautiously stepped forward and patted Lu Yao’s shoulder.
She had a guess but didn’t dare speak it aloud. She guessed everyone who saw the photo had the same suspicion but were too afraid to say it.
Just as Yu Huanhuan’s hand touched Lu Yao’s shoulder, he suddenly moved. The hand holding the photo trembled slightly as he dashed out of the training room, still looking back to request leave from Ke Yu: “I’m going to MOE, please approve half a day off!”
Ke Yu was stunned for a moment, then instinctively chased after him, “Damn, I haven’t approved your leave yet, why are you running off!”
But by the time he reached the training room door, Lu Yao had vanished.
Then a piercing cry came from inside the training room. Ke Yu turned around and saw Yu Huanhuan covering her face, sobbing.
“Waaah, I’m heartbroken. I thought I had a chance with God Ji, waaaah… When did God Ji and Captain Lu get together?!” Yu Huanhuan suddenly collapsed onto He Sheng’s shoulder, “Waaah… Female Alpha and male Omega, such a perfect match. Why did God Ji end up with Captain Lu? The worst part is… I can’t beat Captain Lu either!”
Is my little madam the real issue here? Ke Yu felt a headache coming on. He realized the cabbage he had been protecting all these years had long ago been gobbled up by a pig!
The feeling was simply… unbearable. Ke Yu admitted he felt like crying too.
The other teammates and Coach Poh Xiao still hadn’t processed what had happened, their eyes vacant. They only knew Captain Lu and God Ji had some past, but who knew it was love? And who knew they had even had a son?!
This circle was terrifying. Mommy, I want to go home!
IKW’s pre-match review was completely wrecked by one photo. Ke Yu was lost in shock and regret, Yu Huanhuan was heartbroken, and the other teammates were still stunned, all forgetting about the upcoming match.
Meanwhile, MOE headquarters was holding pre-match training too, and it was a joint session with LPF. Ji Jin and Naisi had a good relationship, so a simple mention to Naisi got quick approval.
If it weren’t for Ji Jin, MOE’s current strength wouldn’t quite match LPF’s for a cross-region joint scrim, so the whole MOE team really treasured the opportunity and performed decently.
After the match, the two teams connected for a joint analysis session, giving each other feedback on strengths and mistakes.
Just as Zhao Ze on MOE’s side opened the mic, and Naisi was about to explain LPF’s team tactics, the training room door suddenly slammed open.
Outside stood Lu Yao, breathless and dust-covered, clutching that photo and heading straight to Ji Jin, his eyes shining intensely as if no one else existed.
“Brother… is Ji Xingxing my child?” Lu Yao’s temple was damp, and a faint plum wine scent wafted as he rushed forward. He was so fast that no one reacted before he was already at Ji Jin’s side.
Ji Jin hadn’t expected him to suddenly show up, and hearing Lu Yao’s words sent a jolt through his heart—especially now, in front of all MOE and LPF players.
The MOE players seated around the conference table were stunned and silent.
LPF players on the video call were horrified and speechless, exchanging glances as they tried to process this shocking news.
“Brother! Answer me!” Lu Yao was desperate inside, not understanding why Ji Jin still hid the truth from him.
IKW and MOE headquarters were only a street apart, and he had run over directly. The receptionist even tried to stop him and caught up chasing after him, but now he didn’t care about anything—he just wanted the truth.
Ji Jin saw how desperate Lu Yao was, and though surrounded by so many people, he helplessly nodded.
“It’s… true… it’s really true!”
Lu Yao instantly became incoherent, unable to speak properly, breaking into a goofy, silly smile that almost split his face. He suddenly pulled Ji Jin into a hug and kissed him.
Ji Jin: ???!!!
MOE entire team: !!!!!
LPF entire team: !!!???
Naisi: Ahhhhh, I’m blind now!
As the team captain and Ji Jin’s direct mic partner, Naisi was on speaker, so everyone present heard her shrill scream.
Ji Jin wore a look of utter resignation.
Only then did Lu Yao realize something was wrong. His body stiffened, and reluctantly he let go of Ji Jin, then awkwardly turned around—only to see the entire MOE official roster behind him watching the scene of him kissing Ji Jin.
Lu Yao: … The atmosphere is kinda… a little bit… off.
Off? The atmosphere was frozen solid.
The most stunned of all was probably Zhao Ze. No matter how much he’d tried to guard against surprises, he never expected that the cabbage he’d planted in his own vegetable garden had long since gotten cozy with a pig—and now had a little piglet… uh, no, a cute little cabbage baby.
His favorite adorable little Xingxing’s Alpha dad turned out to be none other than Lu Yao. At that moment, Zhao Ze was willing to trade anything just for a pair of eyes and ears that hadn’t seen or heard this scene unfold.
Lu Yao’s ears flushed a soft red that spread all the way down to his cheeks.
Ji Jin, though thick-skinned, still struggled under everyone’s staring eyes. This matter definitely needed explaining, so he tried to keep calm and said, “Manager, I need to take a leave.”
Zhao Ze: …
What could he say? The match was about to start, but he couldn’t very well stop an Omega from communicating with his Alpha, right?
So—
“Remember to come back, God Ji.” Zhao Ze’s voice was heavy with meaning.
Ji Jin raised an eyebrow slightly, waved to everyone at MOE, then, at the door, remembered the LPF team still on video and gave them a sweet smile and waved goodbye.
Though Ji Jin thought his smile was sweet, the LPF players did not agree.
No sooner had he wasted that one waving moment than Lu Yao tugged him anxiously, and the training room door slammed shut behind them.
A few seconds later, the Beta receptionist sheepishly pushed the door open and whispered, “I tried to stop him, but I really couldn’t… He just barged in.”
The MOE team sank back into silence.
Once outside, Lu Yao grabbed Ji Jin, desperate to find somewhere to talk. The fire in his heart felt like hot oil, ready to explode and burning him up inside, needing an outlet.
Ji Jin, seeing no way out, took Lu Yao to his temporary resting room—assigned after Ji Jin got pregnant to accommodate him as an Omega, and a pregnant Omega at that.
MOE’s space wasn’t generous; the room was small, with just a chair and a small bed. Ji Jin didn’t find it cramped, but the Alpha’s natural pressure in the room made him feel a bit crowded.
“Brother!” The moment Ji Jin closed the door, Lu Yao hugged him from behind. His chin rested on Ji Jin’s shoulder, but he didn’t press hard—just lightly. “You lied to me!”
His voice wasn’t exactly whining, but it was full of grievance.
“I… didn’t,” Ji Jin turned and gave an innocent look.
“Then is Ji Xingxing my child?” Lu Yao forced Ji Jin to face him. “Don’t try to deny it—I already know.” He pulled out the photo from earlier. “If I hadn’t seen this, I wouldn’t have matched my childhood face with Ji Xingxing’s.”
“So… what else do you want to ask?” Ji Jin gave up trying to deny it, replying with a shrug.
“Then… how did you end up… having my child back then…” Lu Yao sounded confused even to himself. If he’d had his Alpha back then… If only he knew he was the one who could make Ji Jin retire and move abroad to have kids, he’d never have let him go!

“What? MOE team’s eyes are blinded, requesting to reschedule the match?”
