Chapter 51: Because You’re Just Bad

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

“Con—grat—u—la—tions—MOE—for—winning the championship!”

At the very moment the IKW crystal shattered, even the quiet room where the players waited could almost hear the cheers outside. Thousands of fans in the arena screamed and howled with excitement, pouring every ounce of energy into expressing their emotions.

Of course, the cheers came mostly from MOE and Ji Jin’s fans, while the wails were mostly from IKW supporters.

The moment they won, cheers erupted inside the quiet room as well. Cheng Pian was so excited he nearly jumped up, slapping hands with Du Xi sitting beside him. Zhao Ze and the coach, Liusha, sitting in the lounge quickly stretched out their arms and rushed over… but just before reaching Ji Jin, they slammed on the brakes and stopped immediately.

Sweat broke out on Zhao Ze’s forehead. If he barreled into God Ji like that—he was a big guy, after all—what if Lu Yao tore him apart? He gave an apologetic smile and awkwardly patted Cheng Pian on the shoulder, causing him to wince in pain.

The crowd started to disperse from the match area; soon they would need to attend the awards ceremony and post-match interviews. There was still a lot to do. And after that, they’d have to deal with the flood of online discussion.

“You guys head back to the lounge first. I’ll go to the restroom,” Ji Jin said, standing quietly nearby, his face faintly pale and looking unwell.

“Want me to go with you?” Zhao Ze noticed Ji Jin’s complexion looked off, concerned that maybe he had overexerted himself during the match.

“It’s fine, you guys go ahead,” Ji Jin shook his phone lightly. “I have my phone. Call me if there’s anything.”

Backstage, there shouldn’t be anyone besides staff. After the match, staff were busy out front, so Zhao Ze thought for a moment before agreeing.

Ji Jin took his phone and walked down the corridor opposite the front desk. His slender figure seemed fragile, with a faint gentleness about him.

“Manager, I’m going to check on God Ji. He looks like he’s not feeling well, so if there’s anything, I can help,” said a tall, muscular Alpha nearby who hadn’t been standing with the other players.

It was Alex, Zhao Ze realized. Although Alex was on the second team, he was a capable player and always kept as a substitute. He looked steady and trustworthy, and Zhao Ze trusted him.

“Alright, go ahead. Keep an eye on the time, don’t be late for the awards and interviews,” Zhao Ze nodded, then led the others away to prepare.

Alex immediately turned and headed in the direction Ji Jin had gone, and as he turned, a strange and malicious smile crossed his face.

The heat was fading, especially at night, making the air feel a bit chilly. Ji Jin, wearing the loose team jacket, took a candy from his pocket and popped it in his mouth. He felt weak, almost unable to walk.

The last battle had completely drained his strength, leaving him exhausted in both body and mind. He emerged from the restroom and stood at the sink to wash his hands.

Ji Jin’s movements were slow; the candy dissolved slowly in his mouth. He couldn’t help but crunch the hard fruit candy and swallow it.

At that moment, a figure appeared behind him—a strong male Alpha carrying a sharp scent of heather.

“It’s you… Alex.” Ji Jin’s face turned even paler. He leaned against the sink, staring at the Alpha in front of him.

Compared to Ji Jin, Alex was tall and muscular, radiating an intense pressure. His pheromones filled the air with a strong, aggressive scent. Even though he had just appeared, his scent already saturated the surroundings.

“God Ji sure has a good memory. I’m surprised you still remember someone as insignificant as me,” Alex said with a low chuckle, but his eyes showed no humor. He slowly closed in on Ji Jin, blocking the door to the Omega-only restroom.

“How are you feeling? Weak? Hot all over?”

“How do you know?” Ji Jin took a deep breath but was immediately choked by the heavy pheromone in the air, coughing violently. “Oh… right, last time I suddenly went into heat… that was you.”

“Exactly the same… the scent of pheromones,” Ji Jin backed away slowly, cautiously watching Alex, but behind him was just the cold wall—no protection at all.

“Did you drug me again today? In my drink?”

“Just now realizing?” Alex closed in further, afraid Ji Jin would escape his control. “The legendary God Ji—sounds impressive, but really… just average. People praise your surprise tactics and call you a tactical genius, but those folks outside have no clue…!”

Alex slammed his fist against the wall, not very hard but with a crazed grin. “They know nothing! They don’t appreciate it! You, a weak, useless Omega, what right do you have playing esports? What right do you have at all?”

“So you’re the one spreading those photos of me with Cheng Pian, and the rumors about me throwing matches?” Ji Jin leaned on the wall, his color improving but his body still weak, unable to move.

“Yes. I want to ruin your reputation! Make sure you can’t stay at MOE!” Alex’s face twisted in rage. “Why did you get to join MOE as vice-captain right away? I performed perfectly but got demoted to the second team, barely even a substitute!”

“You retired from IKW on your own terms and left. Why come back? You’ve been retired for three years! Why get an instant spot? You, an Omega, pushing me out of my place! Why?!”

Ji Jin was about to ask more questions when Alex brazenly admitted everything.

“Because you were bad.” Ji Jin leaned weakly against the wall and gave a faint smile. He hadn’t intended to mock; he was just telling the truth. But because his image was so bad, and he naturally carried a mocking tone, his explanation came across as sarcasm, which backfired.

“What did you say?!” Alex’s eyes were bloodshot. He suddenly stormed up to Ji Jin and pressed his hands hard against Ji Jin’s shoulders.

Ji Jin’s shoulders hurt from the grip, and his face turned even paler.

“Getting so worked up over a few words definitely means you’re not cut out for esports,” Ji Jin lowered his head and smiled lightly. His smile was faint, the corners of his mouth slightly curled, and the tear mole near his eye seemed to hold a haunting charm. “I meant you were too bad, so you got demoted to the second team.”

“You… nonsense!” Alex’s eyes widened, the redness making him look frightening.

“Before I joined MOE, the team’s higher-ups already intended to recruit someone. After I sent in my resume, they contacted me almost immediately, and they knew I was an Omega when they signed the contract,” Ji Jin’s voice was extremely soft. “Besides, I wasn’t parachuted in; I passed tests before entering MOE.”

“So… even if it hadn’t been me, but someone else, you still wouldn’t have kept your starting position.”

“What right do you have to look down on me here?” Alex’s anger was ignited by Ji Jin’s attitude. He gripped Ji Jin’s shoulders tightly, his strength making Ji Jin feel like his shoulders might be crushed. “What right do you have to say that? You were never kicked out like I was!”

“Do you think I left IKW because I was pregnant? No… it was because IKW didn’t need me, they needed Lu Yao more,” Ji Jin raised his head to meet Alex’s gaze. His eyes sparkled, almost teary.

Leaving IKW back then… he had been reluctant. It was the first team he joined after entering the professional league. He had served there for three years. When he ran away from home to escape marriage, it had been his home.

He had been kicked out by his own family; how could he easily forget?

But he also knew esports was always a cruel profession. No matter how strong you were, if the team didn’t need you, you were useless.

So he came to MOE.

“I don’t believe your lies! It’s all nonsense!” Alex shouted. Not only were his eyes red, but his face turned red as well. The pheromones around him surged wildly, filling the entire Omega-only restroom with the scent of heather.

Ji Jin’s face flushed from the overwhelming scent, almost unable to stand.

Soon, Alex calmed down. He helped Ji Jin up, half-hugging him, showing a malicious smile. “But now you’re in my hands. You’re an Omega with an Alpha but unmarked — interesting.”

“But well… it just works out for me. As long as I’m here, I’ll force you into heat. Then you’ll be my Omega, my slave… and when that time comes, whatever I want you to do, you’ll have to do.”

Alex laughed wildly. He reached out and lifted Ji Jin’s chin, inspecting Ji Jin’s flushed cheeks. “Not gonna lie, Lu Yao’s taste was pretty good. You’re actually… quite pretty for an Omega.”

Ji Jin instinctively looked up, trying to avoid Alex’s touch.

Omega bodies were fragile and easily influenced by Alpha pheromones. Many times, Alphas didn’t need violence to subdue Omegas; just emitting aggressive pheromones was enough to make Omegas beg on their knees.

In ancient times, when AO status was unequal, Omegas were entirely sex slaves to Alphas.

Because of Alpha dominance, many times, Alphas who forcibly marked Omegas escaped punishment since Omegas couldn’t testify or didn’t want to press charges.

“You hate me now, but soon you’ll be begging me,” Alex grinned triumphantly. “There’s a drug in today’s drink that induces heat, plus my pheromones — you’ll soon be in heat, losing all reason.”

Alex’s hand slowly caressed Ji Jin’s slender, pale neck. His pupils dilated, his expression fierce.

Yet Ji Jin let out a low laugh, even a little mocking.

“What are you laughing at!” Alex sensed something was wrong.

Ji Jin pushed Alex’s hand away, then unzipped his team jacket, revealing his slightly rounded belly. He said lazily, “Why didn’t my Alpha mark me? Because I was pregnant… no heat.”

“I wouldn’t enter heat because of any Alpha’s pheromones or drugs, you can’t touch me. But…”

Ji Jin took out his phone from the jacket pocket. “He’s been listening since you started talking. By now, he’s probably close.”

“But… are you ready to face the fury of an Alpha who just found out his pregnant Omega was almost raped?”

Author’s note:

Alex: You’re so bad! Took my spot!

God Ji: Because you were bad.

Alex: And made me substitute? Too much!

God Ji: Because you were bad.

Alex: I’m gonna forcibly mark you.

God Ji: …Sorry, you really can’t do that.
