Chapter 58: Surprise

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: CaiCai

The sun was shining, the sky clear. Yet Lyss’ mood wasn’t as bright. He remained silent, lips pressed together, watching the person in the distance with a dazzling smile. Anyone could feel the palpable unease emanating from him.

Lillia, trembling with fear, watched Lyss. She couldn’t believe it was Lu Xingye who had come from the Empire, but she clearly remembered Lyss’ reluctance a few days ago when leaving the Empire. no one expected to see Lu Xingye again in just a few days. Lillia swallowed nervously, thinking this little prince was probably in big trouble.

Lu Xingye, oblivious to the people around, quickly made a path through the crowd. Dressed in a dazzling black military uniform, the bright alpha walked toward Lyss with a smile, standing before him against the light. Honestly, Lu Xingye had a striking face, but Lyss was immune. Lyss lifted his eyelids lightly, looking coldly at him.

Accompanied by Lu Xingye were several Imperial ministers who, seeing Lyss’ expression, froze, unaware of the situation between the two. They thought something major had happened.

“Good day, Mr. Silverfang.” Lu Xingye, quite thick-skinned, extended a hand toward Lyss. “Long time no see.”

Lyss shook his hand perfunctorily and then coldly responded, “Good day, Your Highness.”

As Lyss tried to withdraw his hand, his coldness seemed to amuse Lu Xingye even more. Instead of letting go, Lu Xingye held Lyss’ hand and pulled him closer, leaning in.

Lyss’ golden eyes widened in disbelief, even his ears standing erect out of shock. A tender, lingering kiss landed on his cheek, Lu Xingye publicly kissing his face in front of all interstellar onlookers. The surroundings fell silent.

After Lu Xingye’s kiss, he calmly backed away, smiling at Lyss, seemingly expecting a response.

In the interstellar age, cheek-to-cheek greetings were popular outside Serica, but there were distinctions among such greetings. For instance, it was rare between alphas and omegas, handshakes being more common.

After all, pheromones were a tricky thing, and cheek-to-cheek greetings could cause unnecessary trouble between AOs. Over time, cheek-to-cheek greetings between alphas and omegas were mutually agreed upon, only used among intimate individuals. If used by strangers, especially an alpha toward an omega without permission, it was seen as improper behavior, just like the current situation.

But Lu Xingye’s audacity exceeded all bounds. Not only did he kiss without Lyss’ permission, but he also demanded a return. Both the Federation and Empire citizens were shocked, everyone staring at Lyss, afraid he might cause a diplomatic incident.

What surprised everyone was when, after three seconds of eye contact, Lyss actually lifted his head. The sunlight cast a glow between them as Lyss lightly planted a kiss on Lu Xingye’s cheek.

This kiss, viewed by outsiders, was immensely shocking. Only Lu Xingye knew Lyss’ insincerity, but he didn’t care; instead, he smiled even more brightly. Holding Lyss’ hand sincerely, he said, “Please guide me more in the future if I’m wrong, Mr. Silverfang.”

Lyss pursed his lips, glanced at him, and finally managed to pull his hand back, saying, “Naturally.”

Switching the roles, Lu Xingye, in front of all interstellar media, intimately placed his arm around Lyss’ shoulder and walked toward the new embassy. A seemingly insignificant event but extraordinary when it concerned Lyss. Particularly for the citizens of the Federation, this was a “disaster.”

The news caused a frenzy in various forums that night, as if trying to unearth Lu Xingye’s ancestors for questioning. all this remained unknown to Lyss and Lu Xingye for the time being. But compared to the excitement in the media, the little girl who should’ve been aware of this incident was completely kept in the dark by her parents.

Waking up from her nap, Lin Lang obediently went to wash her face in the bathroom, feeling oddly excited for some reason.

What’s wrong? Lin Lang shook her tail, puzzled, looking at her reflection in the mirror, as if something significant were about to happen.

Just as Lin Lang pondered this while washing up, a voice beside her spoke, “Lin Lang, is the Chief picking you up today?”

Lin Lang paused, turning to the little alpha beside her. “Today, Mommy has something to do, so Aunt Lillia will pick me up. Do you have any plans, Qiqi?”

Qiqi smirked, “Today, my second dad and third mom are picking me up.”

Faced with this odd address, Lin Lang’s ears drooped slightly, turning away despondently. “When I start school, Daddy will come back.”

Qiqi scoffed, “The Chief is probably lying to you. Your dad has been dead for a long time.”

Lin Lang’s expression changed, her tail drooping. She turned and said dejectedly, “When I start school, Dad will come back.”

Qiqi was incredulous. “Surely you’ve never seen your dad…”

“I have!” Lin Lang interrupted instinctively, then suddenly remembered Lyss’ instructions, halting her words abruptly.

Surprised, Qiqi widened his eyes. “You’ve seen him?”

Lin Lang pursed her lips, unwilling to continue. But at this age, alphas were bothersome. Qiqi, curious, persisted, “Is it true or not?”

Unable to tolerate it anymore, the little girl glared at him. “Why do you keep asking about my dad?”

“Is your dad an alpha or a beta?”

Lin Lang couldn’t be bothered and turned to leave, but that annoying little alpha swiftly grabbed her ponytail. The girl angrily slapped his hand away, saying, “What are you doing?!”

Suddenly, Qiqi’s tone escalated, “My second dad and third mom are both alphas!”

Lin Lang glanced at him inexplicably and retorted, “My dad is an alpha too. So what? Are alphas superior to omegas and betas? How ridiculous.”

As Lin Lang turned to leave, Qiqi attempted to grab her tail. Lin Lang, fed up, smacked him across the face with her tail, leaving him stunned.

As Lyss’s daughter, Lin Lang was usually very obedient and didn’t even know how to swear. The girl was significantly stronger than alphas of the same age. If she got really mad, a single strike could leave even an adult dazed, let alone a five-year-old.

Qiqi stood still for three seconds before bursting into tears. Lin Lang, somewhat impatiently, furrowed her brows but calmly walked away without panicking, just standing there with composure.

As expected, the teacher arrived upon hearing the commotion. Shocked by the red marks on Qiqi’s face, he exclaimed, “Qiqi, what happened to your face?!”

Sobbing, Qiqi replied, “Tea-teacher… Lin Lang hit me with her tail!”

Lin Lang’s indifferent expression showed hints of impatience, faintly resembling Lyss’s demeanor.

The teacher turned to her and asked, “Did you hit him, Lin Lang?”

“It was me,” Lin Lang replied emotionlessly. “He pulled my tail first, and then I hit him.”

Alphas casually touching an omega’s tail, regardless of age, was a severe issue. The teacher’s expression turned serious as he looked at Qiqi, who was still crying, and asked, “Qiqi, did you pull Lin Lang’s tail first?”

“I didn’t!” Qiqi cried, trying to speak between sobs. “I was just telling her… that my dad and mom are coming to pick me up today, and she suddenly hit me with her tail, teacher, I really didn’t do anything!”

The teacher looked at them both skeptically. Lin Lang, with an expressionless face, pointed at the ceiling light, “This light seems to have a recording function. Would you dare to repeat what you just said?”

Qiqi’s crying abruptly stopped, his eyes widened in disbelief. It was apparent that his cries were fake.

The situation became clear. The teacher looked at Qiqi and asked, “Why did you pull Lin Lang’s tail?”

Speechless, Qiqi hid behind his father, and Lin Lang glanced at him, “He was boasting about having two dads and many moms. I didn’t want to deal with him, so he pulled my tail.”

Lin Lang’s logic was crystal clear. The teacher got angry and scolded Qiqi in front of Lin Lang.

Alphas were naturally face-conscious, especially young boys. The teacher said a few words to him, and he genuinely started crying. This time, there was no sound, just angry and upset tears.

Lin Lang wasn’t pleased at all. She looked up at the light bulb, lost in thought.

Finally, Qiqi reluctantly said, “…Sorry.”

Lin Lang turned her head back, responding casually, “Hmm, got it.”

The teacher felt a bit awkward. “Lin Lang, you should say it’s okay.”

“But I don’t plan to forgive him,” Lin Lang replied, leaving the teacher speechless.

“When do you plan to forgive him, then?” the teacher managed to ask after a while.

“I don’t know, when I feel better, I guess,” Lin Lang said while fiddling with her tail tip. She didn’t want to, and the teacher couldn’t force her.

Qiqi felt both aggrieved and angry. In his eyes, once he apologized, Lin Lang couldn’t refuse. He couldn’t accept being treated this way. Shouting angrily, “You, you wait! Don’t think your mom being the chief makes you special! My dad and mom won’t let you off today after school!”

After saying this, he turned and ran away, and the teacher couldn’t stop him.

Lin Lang was speechless. She didn’t take his words seriously and, after informing the teacher, turned and left.

All afternoon, Qiqi gave Lin Lang menacing looks, even during mealtime, while the little girl simply ignored him.

This situation persisted until the end of the school day. Lin Lang washed her hands meticulously, preparing to wait at the door for Lillia. Suddenly, she felt someone blocking her view. After a moment of hesitation, she looked up to see two men and a woman standing in front of her. Qiqi was hiding behind one of the men, saying, “Dad, she’s the one who hit me with her tail!”

The man, a rather refined-looking omega, politely asked, “Hello, are you the chief’s daughter?”

Being young, Lin Lang couldn’t discern the trap in his words and obediently nodded, “Hello, uncle.”

The other two alphas didn’t bother with any niceties. The male alpha coldly demanded, “Why did you hit my son with your tail?”

Lin Lang honestly replied, “He pulled my tail first.”

“He’s just a child, what does he understand?” the omega sighed, helpless.

“Moreover, you’re a little girl, an omega. How could you be so rude?”

Qiqi, trying to help from behind his father, said, “Yeah, you don’t look like an Ome… ah—!”

He was cut off by a sudden scream halfway through his sentence. His parents turned around to see a black wolf alpha holding Qiqi by the back of his neck. Standing beside him was a familiar Triss white wolf omega. The three of them went pale, but before they could speak, the black wolf alpha tossed Qiqi back to them.

“Useless kid with no manners. Even with so many parents, they couldn’t teach him properly. Seems like a lost cause,” Lu Xingye said coldly. “It’d be easier just to cut him loose.”

Lin Lang exclaimed in surprise, “Daddy!”

Author’s note:

Lin Lang: Only you have parents, huh?

Lin Lang seems a perfect combination of Lyss and LX 😁
It is so good to have arrogant, yet bad parents, and their badly brought up kid, put in their places!
Thank you for the chapter.
