After parking his car at the airport parking lot, Luo Songran immediately headed to the airport lobby. He tried calling his elder cousin on the way, but all he got was a busy tone, making him increasingly anxious. After wandering around the airport lobby for a while, he realized he didn’t even know which exit his cousin would use. Being anxious here wouldn’t help.
He accidentally bumped into someone. “Sorry, sorry,” Luo Songran apologized to the person he bumped into. The other person didn’t say much, just saw Luo Songran was pregnant, “Be careful, don’t walk so fast when you’re pregnant,” then walked past him.
After being bumped, Luo Songran stood there feeling a bit dazed. He lowered his head and checked his phone, realizing Duan Yizhou still hadn’t replied. He assumed Duan Yizhou was probably in a meeting and didn’t see his message. As he lifted his gaze from his phone screen, he saw two familiar figures not far away facing each other. Weren’t they his elder cousin and Jiang Yi?! Did he just bump into them?!
He hurried over.
Chu Beiheng, who had just returned to the country, looked bewildered. He looked at the man in front of him, who was calling him his husband and seemed about to cry. Pregnant? Did this happen as soon as he returned to the country? How was this possible? He didn’t have such capabilities.
The next moment, he saw his long-unseen younger cousin running towards them. He quickly waved his hand to stop him, “Hey, hey, RanRan, why are you running?”
Wait, he didn’t ask RanRan to pick him up, why did he come running here? Luo Songran didn’t care about these details. He rushed to Jiang Yi’s side, seeing him standing there with red eyes, watching his elder cousin deeply affected. It felt unsettling to him. “Jiang Yi, that—”
“So, you’re Chu Beiheng?” Jiang Yi interrupted.
Chu Beiheng felt a strange sensation. He looked at his cousin, half believing, “Aren’t I?”
Jiang Yi stared at the face in front of him, so similar to the one he loves, focusing on that mole on the nose. Not the same, still not the same. He felt it when he hugged him just now—the scent of pheromones was different, the width of the shoulders was different.
Why was it different? Why would it be like this? After a brief silence, he turned his face away and smiled faintly, the curve of his lips bitter. He pursed his lips and took a deep breath, as if trying to ease his emotions and accept this difficult reality.
The person he’s always loved isn’t Chu Beiheng. The one who deceived him is Yan Nanchen, the person he hates the most. He’s in love with Yan Nanchen. He loves the one he hates the most, Yan Nanchen.
The report of being pregnant for six weeks was almost crumpled in his hand.
Without saying anything, he took out his phone and turned towards the airport gate. As soon as the call connected, he immediately instructed, “Aaron, do me a favor. Come to the North City Airport now to pick up Mr. Madison. His flight is at 3:50, and there’s half an hour left. You need to receive him.”
Aaron on the other end of the call was puzzled, “Didn’t Mr. Duan say you’re going to pick him up?”
Jiang Yi, expressionless, said, “I’m about to do something possibly the most exciting in my life at the Galaxy Group.”
“What is it?”
Jiang Yi smirked coldly, “Beat up Yan Nanchen.” With that, he hung up the phone and hurried away.
Luo Songran, seeing Jiang Yi about to do something and intending to catch up, was stopped by his elder cousin. He tried to break free anxiously, “Hey, cousin, don’t stop me. Something’s wrong!”
“It’s not about that. What are you guys up to? It’s making me nervous,” Chu Beiheng grabbed Luo Songran. “And why are you running? I’m really afraid that belly of yours might drop.”
Luo Songran didn’t know how to explain to his elder cousin and could only hold onto him and catch up with Jiang Yi. “I know you’re confused. Originally, you weren’t involved in this, but now that it’s happened, it’s a big deal. The most urgent thing now is to catch up with Jiang Yi and stop him. I’m afraid he’s going to beat up your brother.”
Chu Beiheng didn’t understand a word. Except for what the man just said to him, “I am indeed confused. As soon as I landed, that man called me his husband, which scared me. I was even wondering when I got married.”
“He didn’t call you his husband. Well, not exactly, but actually yes. Oh, the situation is very complicated now. Just follow me, and we’ll stop him later.”
Chu Beiheng, naturally curious, became even more curious after his cousin’s explanation. “What do you mean, not exactly? So, is he my lover? He said he’s pregnant just now. Do I already have a child?”
Luo Songran halted, unable to believe it, turned to Chu Beiheng, “Did he tell you that? He’s pregnant?”
Oh no. This is bad.
Chu Beiheng, serious and puzzled, nodded, “Yeah.”
Luo Songran sighed heavily. Suddenly, he felt like he had lost all his energy and couldn’t walk anymore. This matter was beyond his ability to stop, and stopping it seemed pointless, “cousin, I would rather this child be yours. At least Jiang Yi won’t suffer.”
“What’s wrong?” Chu Beiheng panicked upon hearing Luo Songran’s choked voice, quickly grabbing his shoulder. “What happened? Last time, you asked if I could come back, so did something happen?”
“Nanchen impersonated you and deceived Jiang Yi. The man you just saw is Jiang Yi, my alpha’s assistant. He deceived him, claiming to be Chu Beiheng, and after Jiang Yi accidentally went into heat, he marked him. Now, Jiang Yi is pregnant.”
Chu Beiheng’s expression froze, his mind buzzing. He took a deep breath in silence, turned his face away with a touch of anger in his brows and eyes. “Is Nanchen insane? If he wants someone, he should just pursue them. Why use my name?”
“Because Jiang Yi is Duan Yizhou’s assistant and needs to handle business with the Galaxy Group. He has had many dealings with Nanchen and dislikes his nitpicking style. It’s clear that Nanchen knew Jiang Yi disliked him, so he deliberately used your name to deceive him physically and emotionally. Now, he’s reaping what he sowed, and there’s nothing I can do.” Luo Songran took out his phone and found that Nanchen and Duan Yizhou still hadn’t replied to his messages. Jiang Yi must be heading to the Galaxy Group now. If this matter is made public, it will definitely become big news. If Dad or Uncle Zuo know about it, Nanchen is done for.
“I roughly understand,” Chu Beiheng pondered, “So my wife and child aren’t mine.”
Luo Songran glanced at him in silence, “Even at this point, you still have the mood to joke?”
Chu Beiheng put his arm around Luo Songran’s shoulder, pinched his cheek slightly harder than necessary, and chuckled as if finding it unbelievable, “It’s strange. Usually, you’re against Nanchen, but now you’re worried about him?”
“I’m worried about Jiang Yi,” Luo Songran felt guilty, “Beiheng, last time I was kidnapped, Jiang Yi was accidentally turned into an omega to save me. He’s originally an alpha, and now he’s going to suffer with Nanchen because of me. If he were an alpha, he wouldn’t have been marked, and he wouldn’t be pregnant.”
“Give me the car keys,” Chu Beiheng reached out to Luo Songran.
Luo Songran handed the car keys to Chu Beiheng, “What are you going to do?”
Chu Beiheng raised an eyebrow, and with no warmth in his eyes, said, “What else can I do? Help you save your life-saving benefactor by beating up Yan Nanchen. Not to mention Jiang Yi, I also want to beat him. How dare he use my name? Does he have no respect for me as his older brother? So don’t stop me, stop what? Let’s go together.”
Upon hearing his elder cousin’s determined words, Luo Songran suddenly felt a surge of security. Suddenly, he realized he might be in trouble himself. “Um… cousin, can you protect me later?”
“?”
“I just ran three red lights,” Luo Songran smiled awkwardly, not quite polite.
Chu Beiheng was speechless.
“If my husband asks me why I ran the red lights, could you please help me explain? Just say you were so eager to see me that you couldn’t wait,” Luo Songran pleaded.
Chu Beiheng was speechless. Was he some kind of scapegoat? It’s really unbelievable.
At the Galaxy Group— In the lobby, everyone was shocked by the scene. Their CEO, Yan Nanchen, was beaten up, and he didn’t fight back. When Luo Songran arrived, he saw Jiang Yi throwing a crumpled piece of paper at his elder cousin.
“Yan Nanchen, I will never forgive you,” Jiang Yi said decisively, then turned to leave.
“Wait, let me explain,” Yan Nanchen didn’t know what had been thrown at him and accidentally stepped on it. He quickly grabbed Jiang Yi’s arm as he tried to leave. “I admit what I did—”
“Do you know what you stepped on?” Jiang Yi’s eyes turned red with anger when he saw Yan Nanchen step on the report. He forcefully shook off Yan Nanchen’s hand and bent down to pick up the crumpled paper.
Yan Nanchen, seeing Jiang Yi’s eyes turning red, felt a little panicked. He had no idea what the paper was. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”
With a loud smack, Jiang Yi unfolded the report and slapped it against Yan Nanchen’s chest.
“Yan Nanchen, I won’t keep this child,” Jiang Yi said before turning away.
Yan Nanchen’s mind went blank for a moment. He clumsily caught the report, which almost fell. He stared blankly at Jiang Yi’s cold and resolute back as he left. The next moment, he immediately lowered his head to look at the report in his hand.
The crumpled report was a blood test report, and the hCG value on it was over 10,000.
His eyes flickered slightly, and his hand holding the report trembled. “What does this mean?”
Just as he was at a loss and looked up, he happened to see his brother, Chu Beiheng. He actually came back? In that instant, he understood that his lies and deceit had been exposed, and there was no way to find a plausible excuse anymore. With a heavy heart, he let go of the report and watched as it dropped. His heart sank completely.
“Jiang Yi is pregnant,” Luo Songran walked up to his elder cousin, seeing him looking so disheartened. “I did my best. When I knew Jiang Yi was going to the airport to pick someone up, my elder cousin told me he had just landed and wanted to see if he could intercept him. I originally thought it was impossible to meet coincidentally, but who knew it actually happened.”
Upon hearing the word “pregnant,” Yan Nanchen almost collapsed. What was he doing? Why couldn’t he muster the courage to admit his mistake? Why did he have to let things become irreparable before realizing his regret?
“I’ll go after him.” Without thinking, he neatly folded the report and put it in his pocket, then ran out to chase after Jiang Yi.
Luo Songran stood still, watching his elder cousin’s flustered figure. He sighed heavily. His elder cousin deserved it. When there’s deception in love, it needs thousands of excuses to cover it up. Eventually, those excuses will fall apart on their own. He needed to learn his lesson for the future.
“Luo Songran.” At that moment, he heard a stern voice behind him.
Reflexively turning his head, he saw Duan Yizhou coming out of the elevator. The low pressure from him made his back feel chilly. He silently grabbed his elder cousin’s arm and hid behind him. Then he peeked out and smiled at Duan Yizhou. “Why call me by my full name again? It’s scary.”
“What were you doing just now?” Duan Yizhou walked up to the two of them, politely extending his hand to Chu Beiheng, whom he met for the first time. “You must be the elder cousin.”
Chu Beiheng was speechless. Being called “elder cousin” by someone younger felt a bit awkward. He reached out and shook hands politely. “Nice to meet you. You’re quite talented, brother-in-law.”
After speaking, he felt his sleeve being tugged from behind. He glanced back and found Luo Songran winking at him. What was he up to?
Seeing Luo Songran hiding behind Chu Beiheng, expressionless, Duan Yizhou walked over and pulled him out from behind Chu Beiheng. “You have a chance to explain what you were doing just now.”
“Why are you grabbing me…” Luo Songran uncomfortably shook off Duan Yizhou’s hand and muttered softly, “I just wanted to stop my elder cousin from meeting Jiang Yi.”
“Did you succeed?”
Luo Songran was speechless.
“I’m not talking about that. Did you drive just now?” Duan Yizhou had seen the sudden increase in heartbeat data and fast movement on the hyper memory chip, followed by a message about the iceberry pink car running a red light.
Luo Songran sought helplessly at his elder cousin.
Chu Beiheng was about to speak, but he met Duan Yizhou’s dark gaze. The words on the tip of his tongue were swallowed back. He casually turned to the side, stretched lazily, “Oh, I need to go home and talk to Papa about this. Yan Nanchen is becoming more and more outrageous. I should have beaten him up just now. RanRan, I’m going home. Uh, I need to deal with this matter first.”
Luo Songran couldn’t believe his elder cousin was turning like this. He was supposed to help him explain. He tried to reach out and stop his elder cousin, but as soon as his hand lifted, it was grabbed by Duan Yizhou.
He nodded and looked at Duan Yizhou, finding the man’s expression frighteningly dark. Subconsciously swallowing, he said, “Why don’t we solve my cousin’s matter first? Jiang Yi is pregnant, and he seems to not want this child.”
“Luo Songran, I’ll give you another chance to explain. Did you drive just now?” Duan Yizhou’s tone was stern.
“…Yeah,” Luo Songran heard the genuine anger in Duan Yizhou’s voice. He glanced around the group’s lobby and saw that the employees were avoiding looking in their direction. Despite the public setting, he still whispered, “Can we save the scolding for when we get home? qaq.”
“One—”
“Yes, I drove, so what?” Luo Songran raised his voice defiantly when he heard Duan Yizhou starting to count, causing goosebumps to form on his skin.
“How fast were you going?”
“How should I remember that clearly? The situation was urgent at the time.”
“How fast?” Duan Yizhou continued to ask persistently, still suppressing his lingering shock.
Luo Songran tried hard to remember, but how could he recall? “Anyway, it was fast, and I ran a red light.”
“How many red lights did you run?”
“Several,” Luo Songran replied with a tone of resignation, then turned away from Duan Yizhou, crossing his arms in frustration. “I was worried about Jiang Yi, you know.”
“And do you think I wouldn’t worry if you drove recklessly, sped, and ran red lights while pregnant?” Duan Yizhou saw him turning away and took a deep breath to control his anger. He then walked up and simply picked up Luo Songran, carrying him out.
“What are you doing?” Luo Songran exclaimed in surprise, feeling a little scared by the sudden lift. He looked at Duan Yizhou in bewilderment, only to meet the man’s firm jawline, which seemed a bit menacing at the moment.
“You can forget about getting your driver’s license back. I’ll have someone take it to the DMV later,” Duan Yizhou said indifferently as he carried him towards the parking lot.
Feeling embarrassed to be carried like this, Luo Songran quickly pulled his hoodie over his head, burying it down, and timidly protested, “I know speeding and running red lights are wrong, and I’m sorry, but… can’t you be a bit calmer? Where are you taking me?”
Then he heard Duan Yizhou’s voice from above, still with that dominant tone that brooked no resistance, “You’re going home, and I’m locking you up.”
“I’m pregnant!!” Luo Songran exclaimed in shock.
“Disobedience requires punishment.”
“But I already lost my driver’s license, isn’t that punishment enough?” Luo Songran was on the verge of tears. He couldn’t believe he was being scolded for this. Didn’t he just prevent a potential tragedy? At least he did some good, right? “And I still have to deal with all the hardship…”
“Hardship?” Duan Yizhou walked to his car, using the back of his hand to open the door. With one hand holding Luo Songran, he placed him inside and then leaned in to fasten his seatbelt. “The real hardship is what you’ll face when we get home.”
Luo Songran: “…”
If it were any other time, Luo Songran would have been thrilled by Duan Yizhou talking to him like this, but now he was genuinely scared.

I get concern, worry, relief when things are OK that might not have been, but DY is too much at times. It’s suffocating. He indeed treats LS like a child and not a lover.
DY didn’t even seem to have any thought at all for his long time (and suffering) Assistant, whose mental state is in the here and now, not passed the point of being what’s important, like LS’s actions.
Poor JY; on all counts.
Thank you both for the chapter.
