Luo XiaoLou looked at the gray space button for a while. He wanted to take out the mecha, but suddenly there was a knock on the door.

Luo XiaoLou checked who was outside, then opened the door. “Mu Chen. Brother Shen.”

Shen Yuan smiled faintly and said, “We are here to say goodbye. The mecha that we rushed out have all been sent to the front line. The last batch of Tier 7 mecha are also all completed, so now Mu Chen and I are heading to the front line as well.”

Luo XiaoLou was stunned. He asked in amazement, “Why?” Most people were trying to escape to the rear, but Shen Yuan and Mu Chen were going to the front line? The two of them weren’t even from the military.

Mu Chen nodded. “This is the first time this high level bio-mecha has been used in warfare. Later maintenance and modification will require a mecha maker to follow up. The military’s people begged my master, and the master asked me to go over and take a look. As for Shen Yuan, he’s going as Kane’s representative.”

Kane had provided the military department with a large quantity of bio-mecha, and the contract stated that a group of technicians would be sent over.

Luo XiaoLou turned his head to Shen Yuan in surprise. Under Ling Xu’s instructions, Kane’s representative had always been Yang Ke, so why was there a temporary change at this time?

Mu Chen’s mouth curved with a cold smile. “Now you can see that following Young Master Ling Xu is not without its benefits. At least he knows how to take care of those around him.”

Shen Yuan still had a gentle expression. Even his smile was as warm as usual. He glanced at Mu Chen, who was indignant for his sake, and said indifferently, “I was thinking of going anyway. If it wasn’t for the company’s restrictions, I actually would have joined the military department. It’s also a kind of exercise for me.”

Luo XiaoLou blinked. “Since you guys have already decided, then I won’t say anything more. Always pay attention to safety, and come back safely.” After Luo XiaoLou said that, he paused and smiled again. “Maybe, I will also go to the front line, and get together with you guys.”

Mu Chen looked at Luo XiaoLou with a smile, and didn’t say anything. With how much Yuan Xi cared for Luo XiaoLou, he would never let Luo XiaoLou go to such a dangerous place.

After their words of farewell, the two men got up to leave. As Luo XiaoLou sent them out, he noticed Mu Chen’s footsteps paused. He followed his line of sight to the gray space button placed on the desktop.

After two seconds of hesitation, Luo XiaoLou stopped Mu Chen, and told him about how Yates asked him to fix Guardian, and also that he had contacted Master Maku.

After he said that, Luo XiaoLou carefully watched Mu Chen’s expression and asked, “If you wish to take back Guardian, I can go talk to Yates. Also, you can fix it yourself.”

Mu Chen looked for a moment, then withdrew his eyes and said expressionlessly, “No. It’s better for you to fix it. He has nothing to do with me anymore.”

As he watched them leave, Luo XiaoLou sighed slightly. If Master Maku knew Mu Chen went to the front, he was afraid he would be more worried than Arthur. He hesitated for a moment and didn’t inform Master Maku, but did contact Arthur.

Arthur’s side was in chaos, with the roar of the battleship in his ears. When he heard that Mu Chen was coming over, Arthur’s already loud voice simply roared. “What is he doing? He’s only going to hold me back! You tell him, don’t come over!”

The corners of Luo XiaoLou’s mouth twitched, and he said, “I’m just informing you. If you want to say that, you’ll have to talk to him personally.”

Arthur immediately lost his voice. Then he cursed lowly, and pushed Luo XiaoLou to ask Mu Chen the time of his arrival and which army he belonged to.

After he ended the communication, Luo XiaoLou pulled out Guardian. The huge gray mecha was thirteen meters high. Except for the cracks on the shoulders, all the other parts had no sign of dust. It was obvious that Yates treated it with care.

Luo XiaoLou smiled faintly, connected it to the instruments and began to do maintenance.

After a brief spell, the results came out. The external trauma and internal wiring damage on the shoulder wasn’t difficult for Luo XiaoLou to deal with at his current level. It didn’t take much time to find the corresponding materials, when he was backed by the huge resources of the military department. Then it was just a matter of making the parts, forming the components, and then completely replacing the broken parts.

The real difficulty for Luo XiaoLou was the power cycle system. The instruments checked twice, and all they showed there was no problem, but it just couldn’t start.

Finally, Luo XiaoLou had no choice but to use Yuan Power to check it, inch by inch.

To his delight, he found the problem before it was time for dinner with Yuan Xi. It was a small shadow inside the mecha’s chest and belly. Although he didn’t know what it was, he was sure that the power system was paralyzed because of that shadow.

He carefully disassembled Guardian. The shadow was subtly positioned and very difficult to find, but it wasn’t necessary to take apart the entire mecha. Now Luo XiaoLou understood why Yates hadn’t fixed Guardian in so long.

To be able to assess and accurately disassemble a mecha like this, a person must be at least a Level 7 mecha maker, and someone like that wasn’t easy for Yates to find.

Luo XiaoLou was happy to help his friend, a good mood that lasted until he found the source of the tiny shadow.

It turned out to be a microchip. The material, and the wire it was attached to, were so similar to the mecha that the instruments couldn’t see it. Why was there a chip in there at all? Luo XiaoLou’s first thought was to talk to Master Maku.

“Master Maku, I am repairing Guardian. I actually found inside it–“

Luo XiaoLou only said half a sentence, when the cold voice of Master Maku came through, “Luo XiaoLou, I told you. I’m not Gao Chen. Don’t come to me anymore about anything regarding that mecha. Since I got rid of that identity, nothing there has anything to do with me. I want to live my old age in peace, and besides, I’m going to be needed on Arthur’s side.”

Luo XiaoLou froze and ended the communication. Then he picked up the chip again. It had been cleverly placed. The possibility that it was accidentally dropped in that location didn’t make sense. If it was intentionally placed there, it could only mean that the person who put the chip in was a high tier mecha maker, as only a high tier mecha maker could find and retrieve the chip.

When he put all that together, the person who put the chip in was probably Admiral Gao Chen, the mecha maker.

Far away in the Grey Galaxy, Master Maku frowned at his communication device, then finally breathed a gentle sigh of relief. “This thing, it can finally be put down.” For the sake of this thing, he even had to leave the empire, and didn’t dare to contact his son for fear that he would be dragged down with him.

Luo XiaoLou handed the chip to 125. After a quick scan, 125 paused, then played it at Luo XiaoLou’s urgings.

It was a video that began with a battle, a constant stream of mecha being shot by ion cannons and falling down amidst the artillery smoke. It was an almost overwhelming fight.

Luo XiaoLou watched for a while before he realized, almost as an afterthought, that this was the war between humans and the exotic beasts. The human battleship kept falling back, and the person who was filming was apparently on the battleship. The man finally intended to go out and fight, but after a burst of dazzling white light, the battleship was completely destroyed.

The person’s mecha fell hard to the ground, and afterwards, because the owner was unconscious, the mecha chose a sub-operational state in order to protect itself. The mecha ended up being blocked by the wrecked buildings around it. So, after the battle ended, it was missed by the exotic beasts.

The countless dark blue battleships in the sky stayed for some time, before they left in a large force.

After some more time, a few voices broke the silence.

“Is this what you mean by the situation being under control? If this continues, we will all die!” A woman shouted in exasperation.

Another man also interjected, “Jui Yuan, if this continues, if the exotic beasts’ genes aren’t extracted and we die first, then everything is meaningless. Moreover, we will be the sinners responsible for the extinction of humanity.”

Then there was a sound of electricity, and just when Luo XiaoLou thought the chip was broken, the interference ended and the woman’s voice came on again, “Are you sure?” Although she was doubtful, her voice carried a hint of hope.

The man then said coldly, “You talk a good game, but when the time comes, it isn’t clear how we will complete this. Besides, it’s not fair. We’re in constant danger, and you get all the benefits.”

There was more interference, then the man continued, “No. I want the existing share of the gene, and you will give it to Su Yun tomorrow.”

The sound of electricity started again. Luo XiaoLou finally realized that it was the sound of a person speaking, but for some reason, the chip couldn’t record that person’s voice.

It looks like this person agreed with the man’s words. The three stopped arguing and left.

The contents of the chip ended there. Although it wasn’t not long, it revealed a lot of information. The war between the exotic beasts and humans back then really wasn’t what it seemed. Though Luo XiaoLou wasn’t clear on who Jui Yuan was, he knew about Su Yun.

That was Su Lan’s grandmother, and a Federation administrative minister before the Federation defected to the Empire.

Luo XiaoLou stood up. He suddenly understood why Gao Chen would be vilified, and why even after the funeral, the family had no place. Temperament and character were one reason, but the  important reason was that he knew too much.

Luo XiaoLou held the chip in his hand, looked up and said to 125, “Help me look up this person Jui Yuan.”

A minute later, 125 gave Luo XiaoLou the answer, “He is the former director of the Exotic Beast Institute.”

Luo XiaoLou stood up. “Let’s go. I didn’t expect to get this kind of harvest. I’m going to give it to Yuan Xi.”

Federation headquarters.

Su Lan looked at the information in her hand, and she simply couldn’t suppress the smile on her lips. She turned to Yue Shang and said, “Cousin, I didn’t expect this kind of windfall. Now as long as we make this news public, it means that even if we don’t do anything else, no one else will be able to tolerate him.”

Yue Shang looked at the information in his hands twice, then clenched his hands hard and looked up at the person in front of him. “Shao Rong. What do you say?”

Shao Rong kicked up the corner of his mouth. “If he is really an exotic beast as the information says, then in terms of blood, he is my nephew.”

Yue Shang looked at Shao Rong with unblinking eyes. “What if…I must announce this news?”

Shao Rong looked at Yue Shang and Su Lan, and suddenly laughed out loud. “Yue Shang, I have no right to stop this matter, and I will not stop it.”

Yue Shang nodded in satisfaction and said softly to Shao Rong, “I will make it up to you later.”

Su Lan stared at Shao Rong as he walked away, then hummed slightly and whispered, “Cousin, he is just-” Su Lan’s words disappeared under Yue Shang’s icy glare.

Yue Shang glanced at the people to his left and right, and frowned slightly when he saw the Minister of Intelligence. Originally, Jin XiuCheng was the one who sent people to Yuan Xi and Luo XiaoLou, but he ended up being exposed by his own side, and lost a lot of supplies because of it.

But after he enlisted the ministry for that, now he wasn’t useful to Jin XiuCheng, and they had to hold their breath and walk quietly.

Relatively speaking, Shao Rong and Doll Face were two rare, outstanding men. If only Luo XiaoLou’s identity wasn’t so obtrusive. He really didn’t want to offend Shao Rong because of him.

But…Yue Shang clenched his fingers. This opportunity was perfect, and he couldn’t waste it.

Outside of the hall Shao Rong strode along with his head hung low. He waited until he stepped into a dark room to raise it. In the weak light, his eyes flooded with a strong blue, then Shao Rong mouth twisted with an odd smile. “This is the second time. You have one last chance, stupid humans. You must cherish it. “

Everything seems to come back to those involved in abhorrent tests on exotic beasts; Su Lan’s mother amongst them. I’m sure it ties in with Teles too, or at least Duke Moga.
So much pain and long term suffering to so many, caused by whatever really happened.
I wonder what YX will make of it.
It’s arrived at the right time; maybe it can counter the intended exposé about LXL’s identity.
Thanks for translating and editing.

Looks like this war won’t be the only problem Yuan Xi has to deal with. I wonder what splash will XiaoLuo’s information make and how Yuan Xi will explain his identity. It would be great if the could lift the static from the third person’s voice. I bet it would be a breakthrough.
Thank you for the chapter!!!
