Chapter 39: Three Days…

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Karai

Zhou Kai thought he would have a dream that could make him laugh himself awake, but he didn’t. He didn’t dream at all that night and slept particularly deeply.

When he woke up around 7 AM, he blinked at the ceiling for a while, a smile slowly lifting at the corners of his mouth. Suddenly, he grabbed the blanket and covered his face, stifling his laughter, kicking the blanket off with excited legs.

As the excitement faded, Zhou Kai had sweated a little, panting as he hugged the blanket, rolling around in bed. He rolled to the edge of the bed, grabbed his phone, then rolled back to the center of the bed, his heart pounding, quickly opening his WeChat account.

He Ye had woken up earlier than Zhou Kai. He had slept comfortably too and didn’t rush to get up when he woke. Lying on his arm, he reminisced about nearly two years with Zhou Kai, recalling the subtle things Zhou Kai did and said that showed he liked him but had ignored it.

He Ye hadn’t realized it before, but now that he thought about it, he felt foolish and deaf. Zhou Kai treated him so differently than everyone else—quietly and subtly, but so obviously. He had always thought Zhou Kai was insincere.

Turning over with a silly smile, He Ye exhaled, stretching his body in contentment.

His phone rang with a vibration, and He Ye immediately reached for it. When he saw the white, bare-back profile picture, he raised an eyebrow, accepted the call, and cheerfully said, “Happy New Year.”

Zhou Kai heard it and chuckled, nodding at a photo on his bedside table. “Mm-hmm, Happy New Year.”

As soon as they said it, both of them laughed foolishly into the phone for a while.

When the laughter subsided, they heard firecrackers in the background. Zhou Kai licked his lips and called out to He Ye, “Hey…”

He Ye sat up, leaning against the headboard, messing with his hair. “Hmm?”

Zhou Kai asked, “Do you still remember? Everything that happened last night?”

He Ye heard Zhou Kai’s question, raised his left hand to take a quick look, squinted, and smirked. “Ah, last night? Not really. What happened? You tell me, and I’ll see if I remember.”

“You… are you messing with me…” Zhou Kai realized he had asked a foolish question. The answer had already been confirmed when He Ye had said “Happy New Year.” But he couldn’t help but ask—it was a lingering sense of insecurity.

Glancing at the photo again, Zhou Kai took his phone away, glanced at it, then put it back to his ear, grinding his teeth with a growl, “He Ye, I really want to bite you.”

He Ye laughed, smacked his lips, shifted his legs, his voice a little hoarse, and teasingly said, “Bite where? With what? The top or the bottom?”

“…Damn…”

He threw the phone onto the pillow as if it were hot and knelt up, tugging at the collar of his pajamas and fanning himself. His eyes, fixed on the phone that was still on a call, were watery.

After saying those provocative words, He Ye wasn’t feeling any better himself. He lifted the covers and glanced at his bulging pants, covering his face and laughing muffledly, his voice teasing Zhou Kai.

He Ye sighed and said, “I regret it a little.”

As soon as Zhou Kai heard this, he stopped fanning himself and grabbed the phone back, asking nervously, “Regret what?”

He Ye didn’t answer but got out of bed. Zhou Kai listened to the footsteps and guessed that He Ye had gone into the bathroom. Sure enough, the next second he heard the sound of running water.

Swallowing hard, Zhou Kai’s heart raced, his face flushed redder and redder. He couldn’t help but clamp his legs together and asked in a trembling voice, “He Ye, what are you going to do?”

Stripping naked and stepping under the shower, He Ye looked at the phone placed on speaker on the sink and laughed hoarsely, asking rhetorically, “What do you think I’m going to do?”

Zhou Kai didn’t answer, circling his legs with his hands. He Ye continued to tease him, saying, “I regret it, I shouldn’t have let you go so early last night.” His voice was hoarse and deep, with a hint of laughter. “Damn, I’m about to explode.”

Burying himself under the covers, Zhou Kai grabbed the phone and put it to his hot ear, whining and clamping his legs together, saying angrily and amusedly, “It serves you right… If you want to, go ahead and suffer.”

He Ye didn’t expose him, but lowered his head, looking at his cock that was standing straight and stiff against his lower abdomen. He wiped the water off his face and took a deep breath, trying to suppress his desire. He recalled what he had said last night and said, “Zhou Kai, remember what I told you, don’t just come here without saying anything, especially when I’m not here.”

Zhou Kai pulled his hand out from under the covers, pulled down the blanket, and took a breath. After thinking about what He Ye had said, he nodded and agreed, “I remember.”

He Ye was afraid that he wouldn’t remember, so he emphasized, “I’m not joking. Those people can do anything crazy when they’re mad… Zhou Kai, I want you to be safe, so you have to listen to me, understand?”

Zhou Kai knew, and Zhou Kai also wanted He Ye to be safe. If He Ye was afraid that he would bring him harm, then he would listen to He Ye and try not to worry him.

Zhou Kai said, “I know. He Ye, you have to take care of yourself too. If those people dare to do anything, and there’s the police, don’t fight them head-on. I’m telling you, if you dare to risk your safety for them, I’ll be mad at you.”

He Ye laughed and said, “They won’t dare.” Because he was even tougher than them.

“I don’t care if they dare or not, I just want you to be okay.” Zhou Kai frowned, his heart aching at the thought of He Ye getting hurt, even a small injury.

“Cough, well, that bite on your finger, that doesn’t count, right?”

Thinking about the wound, Zhou Kai hurriedly asked, “Is your finger better? Is it swollen?”

He Ye had washed his hands over and over again yesterday, and the wound on his finger hadn’t healed completely. It was indeed a little swollen. But he told Zhou Kai, “No, it’s almost healed. I’ll just put some medicine on it after I take a shower.”

Zhou Kai didn’t believe him, “If it’s swollen, remember to disinfect it first, then apply the medicine.”

He Ye turned off the water and looked at his lower body. He took a towel and dried himself. When Zhou Kai heard the water stop, the itch in his heart started to creep up again. He coughed and said in a soft voice, “I’m going back to my grandparents’ place this afternoon, and I won’t be back for three days…” The reluctance in his voice was obvious.

He Ye paused for a moment, then laughed and said indifferently, “Go ahead, it’s the New Year.”

Zhou Kai hummed and gestured with his hand, hitting the photo on the bedside table. “What about you? What are you going to do these days?”

Zhou Kai thought that during the New Year, all the shops would be closed, and He Ye wouldn’t be able to find any work. Unexpectedly, He Ye said, “I found a job. I’ll go there after I eat.”

Zhou Kai’s heart ached. He thought, “You’re going to do manual labor in this cold weather?” But when he thought about telling He Ye this, he realized it was pointless.

Zhou Kai sighed silently and said, “Okay, be careful, don’t get cold or hurt yourself. I… I’ll look for you when I come back.”

He Ye had already walked back to the bedroom and opened the curtains, letting the warm sunlight in. He took a deep breath and smiled. “Okay.”

Zhou Kai’s grandfather knocked on Zhou Kai’s bedroom door and called out, “Xiao Kai, my good grandson, it’s time to get up.”

Zhou Kai turned around and responded, holding his phone tightly and reluctant to hang up.

He Ye said, “Go ahead, I’m going to eat too.”

Zhou Kai hummed for a long time, staring at the still-connected phone call.

He Ye said, “Hang up, I really have to go.”

Zhou Kai said, “Okay,” and sat up on the bed, pulling up his pants.

He Ye hung up the phone.

Looking at the chat page on his phone, Zhou Kai was stunned for a while, then he jumped up with a silly smile and zipped up his pants.

Three days, it would pass quickly.

Zhou Kai thought about seeing Xiao Hei again and happily left the bedroom.
