In the bedroom, the code was shining with an elegant pale golden light, and Lyss felt confusion for the first time in his life. He sat quietly on the bed, lowered his head for a while, and cautiously touched his lower abdomen. The embryo of one month hadn’t even differentiated; it didn’t even have limbs, let alone respond to him. Yet, Lyss still felt it was wondrous. When he learned he was an artificial being, he believed he’d never have offspring. But this child… Bearing life was an omega’s right, yet artificial beings had no reproductive rights. If his identity were ever exposed, this child would be implicated. Moreover, the Council would use it to control him. A leader couldn’t have vulnerabilities; otherwise, all actions would be restrained.”
This child couldn’t stay. Lyss’s fingers tightened slightly, then gently released. A faint sense of apology arose within him. Just as he intended to move his hand from his collarbone, a small string of additional code behind the main code caught his eye, causing Lyss to freeze.
The meaning of that code was: [Female omega embryo, normal development, healthy individual].
Lyss couldn’t help but recall Lu Xingye’s words a month ago: “I like daughters.”
His fingertips trembled imperceptibly. He gently closed his eyes and moved his hand away from his collarbone. At the moment the code shattered in the room, a knock sounded from outside, “Chief, why did you return to the bedroom? May I come in?””
Lyss paused, removed his hand from his lower abdomen, and replied, “I needed to retrieve something, come in.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Lu Xingye impatiently pushed the door open and rushed in, embracing Lyss affectionately, burying his face in Lyss’s chest.”
He had just finished showering; his tail and ears were still wet, wetting half of Lyss’s neckline. A small patch of fair skin was exposed, and Lu Xingye couldn’t help but wag his tail, splashing water from the tip of his tail onto the bed.
Observing this, Lyss frowned helplessly, “Didn’t you buy a drying tower for the upstairs bathroom?”
“I did, but drying takes time, and I couldn’t wait,” Lu Xingye complained, “Chief, didn’t you miss me at all?”
Hearing Lu Xingye’s explanation, Lyss’s slightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed, “I do, I miss the food you cook.”
At the first half of the sentence, Lu Xingye’s eyes brightened, but when he heard the latter part, his tail, which had been wagging frantically a second ago, immediately stopped. He looked at Lyss in disbelief and hurt, “You only miss my cooking!”
He looked so aggrieved that his ears drooped. Lyss, seeing this, couldn’t help but have a hint of a smile in his eyes, as if stars suddenly fell into his golden eyes, surpassing all of Lu Xingye’s fantasies of his smile.
Lu Xingye, who had never witnessed Lyss smiling, had imagined countless times how Lyss’s smile would look. But now, with just a hint of a smile in his eyes, Lyss appeared as if a deity had descended to earth, surpassing all of Lu Xingye’s fantasies.
Unable to contain himself, Lu Xingye pushed Lyss onto the bed and kissed him. Completely puzzled about the sudden frenzy of the black wolf cub, Lyss raised his hand to push the person off. But at the moment he touched the other’s shoulder, he suddenly remembered what he was supposed to do next.
A ripple stirred in his heart, an emotion he didn’t quite understand. Ultimately, he shifted from resisting to hooking his arms around the other’s neck, lying beneath him with a slightly parted mouth, allowing the other to act.
In the ancient era of Earth, separation anxiety was the most common in dogs out of all domesticated animals.
For Lu Xingye, one month was too long. The kiss descended overwhelmingly, invading every part of his mouth. For a moment, Lyss almost felt like the other was going to swallow him whole.
To soothe the frenzied puppy, Lyss hesitated for a moment and tentatively tried to return the kiss, lightly touching the other’s tongue with his own. The situation suddenly escalated uncontrollably.
With the tail caught in the hands of the unaware puppy and tongues entangled in teasing and sucking, the inexplicable rhythm made Lyss shiver involuntarily. Subconsciously, he raised his hand to push Lu Xingye’s shoulder, struggling to divert, “Don’t… haven’t eaten…”
But Lu Xingye paid no attention, his gaze growing darker, excitement akin to a predator.
“Just once, please,” Lu Xingye pleaded, taking advantage of his younger age to act wilfully, “just once, I promise.”
Looking up at him, Lyss didn’t quite trust him. Lu Xingye, seeing him relenting, quickly added fuel to the fire, “Are you hungry now?”
It was early for both of them to return home, far from mealtime. Lyss wanted to say he was hungry, but he couldn’t lie, so he simply said, “…Not hungry.”
Lu Xingye burst into laughter, “Even the most delicious food needs to be eaten when hungry to show its taste. Otherwise, it’s wasted.”
He said so much for such an obvious reason. Lyss pursed his lips and reluctantly agreed, “…Remember the doctor’s advice.”
“Of course,” Lu Xingye beamed, “I won’t go in.”
It turns out, a man’s words in bed should never be trusted.
When Lyss pressed Lu Xingye onto the bed by his neck, the latter seemed a bit aggrieved, “Brother…”
Lyss breathed heavily, and the hand around Lu Xingye’s neck trembled. “A puppy that speaks nothing but lies…”
Lu Xingye raised an eyebrow, and Lyss, noticing, panicked slightly. “…Don’t move!”
“Brother—” Lu Xingye attempted to feign innocence, gently touching Lyss’s waist, changing the topic. “I heard the Empire is planning joint military exercises with Triss?”
The abrupt mention of this on the bed was indeed effective. Lyss, caught off guard, heard him and felt his heart skip a beat. His grip softened a bit. Lu Xingye chuckled lightly, hooking his waist and pinning him down.
“!!” The sudden change in position made Lyss’s pupils shrink.
Lu Xingye lowered his head and kissed the corner of Lyss’s mouth, “Even the Empire is within your calculations?”
Lyss didn’t want to respond to that question. After a moment of silence, he lifted his leg and hooked Lu Xingye’s waist. He didn’t need to say anything, just quietly lying there, gazing at Lu Xingye with his watery golden eyes. Lu Xingye forgot what he intended to say and simply leaned down to kiss him.
They had agreed to have dinner after this, but by the time they ate, it was already late at night.
Lyss sat silently at the dining table, eating dumplings. The buttons of his pajamas were undone, hinting at what had just happened.
Lu Xingye sat beside him like a guilty little puppy, taking a bite then looking up at Lyss expectantly. Chief Lyss remained unfazed, quietly focusing on his meal without even a glance at the eager puppy beside him.”
“Chief,” Lu Xingye couldn’t resist trying to start a conversation, “do you know the difference between wontons and dumplings?”
Lyss swallowed his food, finally glancing at Lu Xingye. “I do.”
That response shut down any further conversation. Lu Xingye dryly said, “The Chief is indeed knowledgeable.”
Lyss continued eating with his head down. Seeing this, Lu Xingye finished his meal quickly and eagerly asked, “Is it delicious?”
Lyss was about to say it was delicious when he remembered being coaxed into saying the same thing on the bed just moments ago. His expression turned cold instantly, and he continued eating without a word.
Seeing his own misdeed, Lu Xingye understood the reason for Lyss’s coldness. He awkwardly scratched his nose and finally managed to say something useful, “I noticed some anomalies in the military this month…”
Lyss paused and finally looked at him seriously, “What anomalies?”
Seeing Lyss engaging with him, Lu Xingye, eager to seize the moment, tried again, “Kiss me, and I’ll tell you.”
Lyss glanced at him coldly. Lu Xingye leaned in shamelessly, only to be stopped by Lyss’s tail. “Push it any further, and you’re returning to the military tomorrow.”
With only two days of vacation time in a month, Lu Xingye finally stopped his antics, “Alright, I’ll tell you. But Chief, don’t be so cold. After using someone on the bed, you should—”
Lyss grabbed his ear and gently pulled it down, planting a kiss on the blabbering puppy’s mouth. “Speak.”
“Got it.” Lu Xingye stopped being playful, “If I’m not mistaken, the decision for the joint military exercise with Triss and the Empire was made today?”
Lyss nodded, and Lu Xingye continued, “Before this decision, did anyone in headquarters know about it?”
“No one except me,” Lyss replied, adding, “Not even Lillia.”
“That’s strange,” Lu Xingye raised an eyebrow, “I’ve been hearing rumors at the military since Monday. The news didn’t come from headquarters. Where could it have leaked from?”
Lyss’s expression turned serious. Lu Xingye admired for a moment before saying, “Can I suggest something?”
Lyss refocused, “Go ahead.”
“My suggestion is,” Lu Xingye earnestly advised, “the Empire isn’t a good entity. Unless it’s necessary, avoid personally attending this exercise.”
Lyss paused, lowered his head, and spoke after a while, “Hmm.”
Happy times are always short-lived, at least for Lu Xingye. His happiest days were once when he traveled everywhere with his mother on Interstellar. Now, his happiest moments were spent with Lyss, without having to think about anything else.
But both were fleeting.
Monday morning, Lu Xingye stuck to Lyss, reluctant to part. Lyss playfully ruffled his head, “Alright, starting this month, I can come home every week. Stop being a bother.”
Finally sending off the clingy puppy, Lyss gazed quietly at the departing starship. Unbeknownst to himself, a hint of melancholy arose within him.
Entering his office, Lillia noticed Lyss’s slightly off mood and poured him a cup of nutrient solution.
Unexpectedly, Lyss casually asked, “Do we have tea?”
Even Lyss was surprised by his own words.
But what surprised him more was Lillia’s response, “Yes.”
Facing Lyss’s gaze, Lillia hesitated for a moment before nervously adding, “It’s… the alpha left it for you before. He said you liked it.”
Lyss fell silent for a few seconds, then said, “Let’s brew that tea.”
Lillia acknowledged and left. Lyss turned his gaze back to the terminal, facing the unopened star letter. For the first time in his life, he felt a desire to escape.
But in the end, Lyss still opened the letter, and it read: “Good day, Chief Sir. Remember the agreement you made with the Empire’s Crown Prince. Kindly bring your alpha with you on the day of the exercise.”
Author’s Note:
“She’s a lovely daughter, but unfortunately, the little dog can’t see her yet (doge).”

Poor LX; and Lyss.
Thank you both for the chapter.
