Chapter 13: I am yours
Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations
Ed went downstairs and responded with, [What’s the situation?]
By the time he got to the living room, he didn’t see any response from the opposite side. He couldn’t wait and so he directly called Alfred.
It took a long time for the other side to pick his call. The first sentence was, “Don’t worry.” It was like he was afraid of Ed rushing in on impulse.
Ed, who had a fever in his head just now, was surprisingly calm. His breathing calmed down. Even his blood began to cool, “How can I not hear from you?”
“The Union has just sent people to contact us. We haven’t set a specific time yet, but it’s estimated that the negotiation is inevitable,” Alfred hesitated, and told Ed, “There may be a specific meeting tomorrow, but the Emperor said that you don’t need to come out, and make sure that Augus stays safe with you these days. If necessary, you can go back to the detention room.”
“What are you kidding about?” Ed said firmly. “There’s nothing safer here than with me.”
“I know that, but you should understand the instructions are from above. Although we believe that you will not fake the public to help the private, we cannot rule out the influence of pheromones on you, which may cause huge losses in the negotiation process… ” Alfred concluded, “We will follow up with you in this negotiation process, but you are not required to participate.”
Ed wryly smiled, “So what I can do now is to stay at home and wait for both sides to make a proper price and return Augus to the Union?”
Alfred’s voice came back after a while, “Ed, don’t forget that he is a major general of the Union. Don’t say that the Union wants to steal people.”
Yes, it was the Empire that “stole” people.
He didn’t know how happy Augus would be if he knew he could go back? Even if he couldn’t go back to the army, it was better than being a canary with broken wings and being kept at home.
After hearing Ed’s silence, Alfred gave him a few words and said, “I don’t know the specific information. Let’s wait for the news from above. The Union will probably come to the Empire to negotiate in person to show its sincerity.”
If it were not for the fact that the Union was still in a slightly weaker situation, it would not be in the situation it was now.
The Union would make preparations for the landing on the enemy’s land, and the Empire would have to be well prepared. The upcoming so-called ‘peaceful visit’ could only be a transaction full of suspicion and defense at best. It was like the relationship between the Empire and the Union as always.
“I see. Let’s talk about it in detail later.” Ed suddenly felt that he didn’t have the strength to argue or pursue the topic any more. Compared with the political struggle and the national competition, he was still too insignificant. And it really may be ridiculous for him to be sincere about the ‘prisoner of war’.
Ed, who hung up and turned around, was stunned.
Augus stood on the stairs, looking at him in surprise, having clearly heard the whole dialogue. Ed couldn’t help but scold himself for being so flustered that he didn’t even notice someone eavesdropping.
But Augus had no eavesdropper’s consciousness, he just stood at the same place without any sign of trying to hide. He had thought that there was something serious in the Union that needed Ed’s attention, but he didn’t expect that it had something to do with himself.
“The Union is coming to negotiate.”
Augus was very clear about the inner workings of politics. Although he didn’t know what happened to the situation, the Union had obviously gained some advantages. Otherwise, it would be impossible to negotiate at this time. After all, he was definitely given up on before.
“Yes.” Ed suddenly smiled. “Are you happy?”
Of course, Augus was happy. From an alpha to omega, from a soldier galloping on the battlefield to a canary kept at home, no one would be completely satisfied. He never intended to live like this all his life, but he didn’t expect it to come to an end so soon. Augus looked at Ed’s bitter smile and suddenly felt very conflicted.
In fact, Ed didn’t guard against him since some time ago. If he really wanted to kill himself or run away, he couldn’t say there was no possibility of success. Especially a few days ago, when Ed went to the meeting, it was a good time to escape. However, Augus stayed after a battle in his heart. It was because of the thought of Ed’s trust, he could not bear to let it down.
After he laid down on the bed, Augus’s brain was actually in a mess. What was this idea? To live up to the trust of the enemy? To give up on the perfect chance of escape, like a wife lying in bed waiting for her working husband to come home?
Augus thought he should just leave as he sat himself up, but imagined Ed coming home and finding him gone, and he laid back down again. It was hard for Augus, who had never experienced emotion for many years, to figure out what he was doing.
Augus didn’t answer, so he looked at Ed without expression.
Ed walked up the stairs, pretending to easily walk pass Augus’s shoulders and to the room.
“But the Union is not coming until tomorrow. Don’t think about leaving so soon.”
“Is there a definite time when the Union will come? What happened to let them negotiate? Are you in trouble?”
Ed listened to Augus and replied, “Military secrets.”
“You telling me won’t affect the negotiations either.”
“You aren’t even back with the Union yet, and you’re already caring about politics in the Union?”
Looking at Augus’s silent appearance, Ed suddenly turned around and pressed him directly against the corridor wall. He looked into Augus’s light brown eyes and said, “Don’t forget that the Union has had no further updates yet. As long as the negotiations aren’t completed, you are still mine.”
“I’ve never been anyone’s,” he replied coldly while trying to get out of Ed’s control.
Ed was stunned for a moment and said with a smile, “Then I’m yours, is that ok?”
Augus stopped struggling, as he listened, he slowly turned his eyes away from Ed’s gaze. Ed smiled and leaned his head against Augus’s shoulder, repeating in a low voice, “I’ll be yours until I have to let you go.”
Augus listened in silence, feeling Ed’s breath falling on his skin as he spoke, and his heart suddenly thumped faster.
He didn’t know how long they stayed in that position in the corridor, but after a long time, Ed acted like nothing had happened. He casually pulled away and went back to his room. Augus was confused, he didn’t say a word after he went back to the room. The two people just went to sleep.
In the next few days, Ed didn’t make Augus ‘exercise’ any more. Naturally, Augus wouldn’t ask for it either. At most, the two of them jerked off with their hands. As such, the temporary mark began to decline, and although the decline was slow, both sides could clearly felt that the marker would gradually disappear within half a year to a year at this speed.
Ed was originally, planning to have as much sex as possible before Augus had to leave. Yet, he thought that it might be more painful to see him leave with the pheromones swelling up, so he thought it best to get used to it. It was a very difficult thing to so though, and Ed tried to control himself not to enter the other side directly. While Augus didn’t respond to that, he had the same attitude he always had in the past days, which made Ed, who was already exhausted with thoughts, wonder if Augus might feel more relaxed now. Since, previously, Augus only finished at the end with him due to the pheromones.
A week later, the difference between the defeat and the low-key silence when the leader was occupied was very high-profile. Media and so on had announced the Union’s commander-in-chief took over his brother’s position, and Kane would personally visit the Empire. The obvious reason was, of course, to promote exchanges and consult on the current situation in the starry sky.
This news was not blocked by the military. Naturally, everyone knew about it, and Augus also learnt about it soon after. At this point, the atmosphere at home was extremely tense for some reason. The communication between the two people was less than before and whenever they met each other, Augus would immediately turn around to avoid Ed. Ed had no opinion about it since he said something similar to a confession in the corridor that day, and while Augus looked like an escapist, at least it was better than indifference. After all, it proved that he cared about it.
