Chapter 89: Loyalty—Part Eleven

Only after pausing blankly for a long while did Jiang Cheng finally shout, “What nonsense are you talking about?!”

Wen Ning seemed to be composed, “It’s not nonsense.”

Jiang Cheng, “Shut up! My core was… My core was…”

Wen Ning, “Was mended by BaoShan SanRen.”

Jiang Cheng, “How do you know? He even told you about this?”

Wen Ning, “He didn’t. Young Master Wei never mentioned it to anyone. I saw it with my own eyes.”

Jiang Cheng’s eyes were bloodshot as he laughed, “Liar! You were there? How could you have been there?! I was the only one who went up the mountain; you couldn’t have followed me!”

Wen Ning, “I didn’t follow you. I’d been on the mountain ever since the beginning.”

Veins lined Jiang Cheng’s forehead, “… Liar!”

Wen Ning, “Just listen and see if I’m lying! You had a piece of black cloth over your eyes when you went up the mountain. You were holding a long branch in your hand. You passed a stone forest when you were about to reach the top and you only managed to go around it after almost an entire hour.”

The muscles on Jiang Cheng’s face twitched slightly. Wen Ning continued, “And then you heard bell chimes. The chimes sent a flock of birds flying away. You held the branch tight in your hand, like holding a sword. When the bell chimes stopped, a sword was pressed against the center of your chest. You heard a woman’s voice, ordering you to stop going forward.”

Jiang Cheng’s entire body started to tremble as Wen Ning raised his voice, “You immediately stopped in your tracks, looking extremely nervous, almost a bit excited. The woman’s voice was very low. She asked you whom you were and how you found this place. You answered…”

Jiang Cheng roared, “Shut up!”

Wen Ning roared as well, “… You answered, you were Wei Ying, son of CangSe SanRen*! You talked about the destruction of your sect, the pandemonium at Lotus Pier, and that your golden core was dissolved by Wen ZhuLiu, the Core-Melting Hand. The woman asked you questions about your parents over and over again, and when you answered the last question, you suddenly caught the scent of something fragrant before you lost consciousness…”

*pronunciation change due to audio drama pronouncing it cang instead of zang.

Jiang Cheng seemed almost as if he was about to cover his ears with his hands, “Why do you know? How do you know?!”

Wen Ning, “Haven’t I told you already? I was right there, but not only that, Young Master Wei was there as well. Apart from us, there was also my sister, Wen Qing. In other words, on the entire mountain, we three were the only ones waiting for you.”

“Sect Leader Jiang, did you really think that it was the secluded residence of some… some BaoShan SanRen? Young Master Wei himself didn’t know where on Earth to find such a place either. His mother CangSe SanRen never revealed anything about where her teacher was to that young of a child! The mountain was nothing more than one of Yiling’s barren peaks!”

Shouting his voice hoarse, Jiang Cheng repeated the same things again and again, as if to use the malicious expression to conceal his sudden lack of words, “Nonsense! That’s fucking enough! Then why was my core mended?!”

Wen Ning, “Your core was never mended in the first place. It’d long since been completely melted by Wen ZhuLiu! The reason you thought it was mended was that my sister Wen Qing, the best medic of the QishanWen Sect, cut out Young Master Wei’s golden core and replaced yours with it!”

Jiang Cheng’s face was completely blank for a moment, “Replaced mine with it?”

Wen Ning, “That’s right! Why do you think he never used Suibian again and never carried it with him when he went out? Was it really because of some youthful arrogance? Could he have really enjoyed it when others said that he was impolite and lacked discipline, whether behind his back or not? It was because even if he carried it, there’d be no use! It was only because… if he carried his sword to those banquets and night-hunts, there’d definitely be people asking to duel him for whatever reasons. And he, without his golden core, was deprived of spiritual energy. If he used his sword, he wouldn’t be able to last long at all…”

Jiang Cheng stood blankly. His eyes glowed green. His lips quivered. He even forgot to use Zidian. Suddenly, he threw Suibian down and struck hard against Wen Ning’s chest with his hand, shouting, “Liar!”

Wen Ning staggered a few steps back from the force. He picked up Suibian, put it back inside its sheath, and shoved it into Jiang Cheng’s arms again, “Take it!”

Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but to take the sword. He didn’t move. Instead, at a loss as to what to do, he looked across at where Wei WuXian was. It was fine when he didn’t look, but now that he looked, Wei WuXian’s feeble appearance—pale-faced, blood still at the corners of his lips—hit his heart as though it were a hammer. Lan WangJi’s eyes chilled the air around his body, making it feel like a cave of ice.

Wen Ning, “Take this sword and go to the banquet hall, to the training field, to anywhere you want and ask every single person you see to pull the sword out. See if any one of them can pull it out! And then you’ll know if I’m lying or not! Sect Leader Jiang—you, so driven of a person, have been comparing yourself to others your whole life, but you have to know that you never should’ve been able to equal him!”

Jiang Cheng kicked Wen Ning before he stumbled toward the banquet hall, holding Suibian in his hand.

He bellowed as he ran in an almost crazed manner. Wen Ning was kicked onto one of the trees in the courtyard. He stood up slowly and turned to the other two. Lan WangJi’s immaculate face was at the moment more than pale. His expression was also covered in frost. After one last look at the YunmengJiang Sect’s ancestral hall, he lifted Wei WuXian’s body so that it rested steadily and finally walk away in the opposite direction without turning back.

Wen Ning, “Y-Young Master Lan, where are you going?”

Lan WangJi’s figure paused before the stairs, “Just now, he told me to take him away.”

Wen Ning followed at once, walking out the gates of Lotus Pier along with him.

At the dock, most of the group of boats that they used to come here had already gone back after they arrived at the destination. Only two old, unattended ferries were left in front of the dock. The ferries were both long and narrow, shaped like willow leaves, able to contain seven or eight people. Both ends of each ferry curved upward, with two oars at one end. Carrying Wei WuXian on his back, Lan WangJi stepped onto the ferry without any hesitation. With hurry, Wen Ning leaped onto the tail of the boat, taking up the oars voluntarily. With just two rows, the ferry steadily drifted quite a few feet away. Soon, the ferry had followed the water’s flow away from the dock, approaching the center of the river.

Lan WangJi let Wei WuXian lean on his body. He first fed him two pills. Only after he confirmed that he swallowed them properly did he take out his handkerchief and slowly wipe away the blood on his face.

Suddenly, Wen Ning’s nervous voice came over, “Y-Young Master Lan.”

Lan WangJi, “What is it?”

Wen Ning’s assertion back when he was in front of Jiang Cheng had already disappeared without a trace. He summoned up all his courage before speaking, “Please… Please don’t tell Young Master Wei that I revealed the secret of his core yet. He’s warned me very seriously to not tell anyone no matter what. Although I probably wouldn’t be able to keep him in the dark for long, I…”

After a moment of silence, Lan WangJi replied, “Do not worry.”

It seemed that Wen Ning let out a sigh of relief, even though dead people had no breath to sigh. He spoke earnestly, “Young Master Lan, thank you.”

Lan WangJi shook his head. Wen Ning, “Thank you for speaking up for me and my sister back then, on Koi Tower. I’ve always remembered it. For how I lost control afterwards, I… really am sorry.”

Lan WangJi didn’t answer. Wen Ning continued, “Thank you even more for looking after A-Yuan all these years.”

Hearing this, Lan WangJi looked up slightly. Wen Ning, “I thought every single person from our sect was dead. I really didn’t expect that A-Yuan would still be alive. He looks so much like my cousin when he was around twenty.”

Lan WangJi, “He hid inside the tree trunk for too long and caught a severe fever.”

Wen Ning nodded, “I know he must’ve been sick. He remembers nothing of his childhood. I chatted with him for a long time. He kept on talking about you.” He said somewhat disappointedly, “In the past, it was about Young Master Wei… It’s never been about me, anyways.”

Lan WangJi, “You did not tell him.”

Wen Ning, “You mean his background? No, I didn’t.”

He turned around with his back facing the two, speaking as he rowed the ferry diligently, “He’s doing very well right now. If he knew too much or remembered things that are too heavy… he wouldn’t be doing as well as he is right now.”

Lan WangJi, “It is only a matter of time.”

Wen Ning hesitated for a moment, “Yes. It’s only a matter of time.” He looked up at the sky, “Just like Young Master Wei and Sect Leader Jiang. It was only a matter of time before Sect Leader Jiang knew about the core. He couldn’t have kept it from Sect Leader Jiang for his whole life, could he?”

The night was silent, and the river’s flow heavy.

Suddenly, Lan WangJi spoke up, “Is it painful?”

Wen Ning, “What?”

Lan WangJi, “Cutting out one’s core. Is it painful?”

Wen Ning, “If I said it wasn’t, Young Master Lan, you wouldn’t believe it either, would you?”

Lan WangJi, “I thought Wen Qing would find a way.”

Wen Ning, “Before we went up the mountain, my sister did make many anesthetics, hoping they’d reduce the pain of cutting out his core. But then she found out that those anesthetics were absolutely useless. Because if the person is under anesthetized conditions when the core is being cut out, seperating from the body, the core would be affected as well. It was hard to tell whether it’d dissolve, when it’d dissolve.”

Lan WangJi, “… And so?”

Wen Ning’s rowing paused for an instant, “And so, the person whose core is being cut out has to be awake.”

He had to be awake. He had to watch the golden core connected to his spiritual pathways be peeled from his body. He had to feel the gradual suppression, sedation, settlement of his originally surging spiritual powers, all until they became a pool of dead water, unable to rise ever again.

Only after a long while did Lan WangJi’s voice sound again, somewhat hoarse. The first word seemed to tremble, “Constantly awake?”

Wen Ning, “Two nights and one day. Constantly awake.”

Lan WangJi, “What were the chances?”

Wen Ning, “About half.”

“Half.” Soundlessly, Lan WangJi took in a deep breath. He then shook his head, repeating, “… Half.”

He tightened the arm he wrapped around Wei WuXian’s shoulders. His knuckles were already growing white.

Wen Ning, “After all, in the past, nobody had ever actually tried transferring golden cores before. Although my sister had written an essay on core transfer, she’d only made some conjectures. Nobody at all would let her experiment on them, so the conjectures stayed conjectures. All of the seniors said that she was letting her imagination run wild. On top of that, it was unrealistic. Everyone knew that nobody would willingly give their golden core to someone else, for if this really happened, they themselves would become absolutely useless, never able to reach the pinnacle or go anywhere in life at all. And so, when Young Master Wei first came back for us, my sister refused to do it. She warned him that the article and actually conducting the experiment were two different things. She was not even half confident.

“But Young Master Wei kept on bothering her. He said that half was fine too. There was an equal chance of succeeding and failing. If his core was ruined, he’d manage to live on, but Sect Leader Jiang was a different case. He was too driven. He laid too much emphasis on such a subject. Cultivation was his life. If Sect Leader Jiang could only be an ordinary person, unable to go anywhere in life, his entire life would be over.”

Lan WangJi looked down. His glass-like eyes gazed at Wei WuXian’s face as he extended his hand. In the end, he only brushed the tip of his finger against Wei WuXian’s cheek, almost unnoticeably.

Wen Ning turned around. He couldn’t help but ask, “Young Master Lan, you don’t seem too surprised about this. Did you… Did you know about this as well?”

“…” Lan WangJi managed, “I only knew that his spiritual powers were somehow impaired.”

But to think this was the truth.

Wen Ning, “If not because of this…”

If not because there really wasn’t a second path to walk on.

At this point, the head leaning against Lan WangJi’s shoulder shifted slightly. Wei WuXian’s lashes trembled as he slowly awakened.

  1. Can someone please tell me how WWX still can cultivate (even tho it’s a different path) when he doesn’t have any spiritual core???
Does playing his flute even require spiritual energy considering that he uses it to summon corpses???

    1. Because he uses resentful energy rather than spiritual energy. With resentful energy, the energy is already there and he manipulates it. With spiritual energy, Wei WuXian would have to give his spiritual energy to his sword in order to wield it as well as other spiritual tools. Chenqin is not really a spiritual tool in the same sense as WanhJi’s guqin in the sense that Wei WuXian uses it to summon and control the resentful energy. That is why Wei WuXian also fights with talismans. Talismans are already imbued with energy. This is what I have gathered from reading this far into the novel so I hope it makes sense.

    2. Yin energy can enter a body. And after loosing his spiritual energy that is yang energy it was more easier for yin energy to enter him. That what I saw in several cases like this. Like how a ghost can posses. He was basically critically injured that resulted in deathlike situation which he overcame with pure will or I suspect that Lan Wangji actually helped him by enquiring all the ghosts like in the Donghua. So he was filled with Yin energy which he can use at will through music to calm down or to irritate.

    3. In the past he uses resentful energy(he perfected this when they threw him to Burial Mound and he stayed there for three months),as he does not have spiritual energy anymore since he no longer has his golden core.He could only cultivates using purely resentful energy, and with no spiritual energy to balance things out,we all know how that past ends. The ghost path can indeed truly harm the body and mind just like LWJ’S warning and concerns.Thats the reason why in the past,he always refuses when LWJ tried to pass him spiritual energy,as it does not help one bit, this can be further proven as in the cave scene when LQR and others loses their spiritual energy temporarily.LWJ tried to help his uncle and pass him spiritual energy,LQR says something along the lines of how it would be useless and just a waste of the spiritual energy.
In the present, his new body(mxy’s) is low on spiritual energy in the first place that means he does not even form a core yet.But his new body still has some spiritual energy despite being really low.And since he was the grandmaster of demonic cultivation in the past anyways,he still can use resentful energy as he pleases, but it won’t affect his mind and heart like before, since his new body has spiritual energy to balance it out.Thats why there’s nothing corrupting his mind and heart anymore in the present. And eventually,he will be able to grow a golden core for his new body(that means he will be able to use Suibian again in the future)with much training and nurturing his spiritual energy with the help of Lan WangJi.Sadly we will not see these scenes ever TT

      1. And there are already some very good ones! I love mostly all the work by Sinocchi (you can find it on archive of our own).

      2. Whoah! My head is spinning and drowning of what you’ve said. So amazed to read this kind of information… xie xie ni 😊

  2. My heart flutters at the revelation and Lan WangJi’s gentleness as he learns what exactly is wrong. Wei WuXian is so precious, but so reckless. He’s that kind of friend that will help no matter what, completely disregarding his own wellbeing in the process that you just wanna beat up in frustration each and every time. I feel like I can picture Lan WangJi caring for Wei WuXian in loving exasperation.

  3. Jiang Cheng, who always criticized Wei Wu Xiang – for being selfless and “play the hero” -, was the main benefited among so many WWX’s selfless actions. I think that Jiang Cheng is a selfish unfairly resentful “brother”. His cowardness made him miss so many great adventures like savibgnthe Wens as well as the one when WWX and LWJ killed that magical evil turtle.

Jiang Chen, you’ll never be great like WWX!
    Shame on you Jiang Cheng!

    1. Hi Asane, don’t forget because of him, a lot of disciples were saved back in the cave. Yes, he is not the kind of hero who will fight the Giant turtle like WWX and LWJ but I don’t thing he is coward. He is different, thinking differently and maybe jealous of WWX ( because he always thought his father prefer WWX to him) but I don’t think he is coward. Thank you for your comment.

      1. I totally agree with you Dutrima. There are many different types of heros. Although Jiang Chang is rash and sometimes Jealous, he did rebuild an entire sect by himself at a very young age. Jiang Chang’s character is built as someone who holds in all of their emotions.. Besides, the story is not over yet, maybe there is still time for the author to show us Jiang Chang’s inner hero. I refuse to believe that that he is not a hero..

    2. I think the point of this story is that no one’s good or evil, they’re all just doing things for their own reasons, and sometimes the things we do hurt others, unintentionally or not. If you’re going to judge someone, you have to judge them by their intentions.

Yes, Jiang Cheng could have been a more supportive brother to WWX in the past. But you also have to consider that from his perspective, it really did seem like WWX was being provocative by not wearing his sword, and picking fights without thinking about the clan. He didn’t know how deeply loyal WWX was because WWX never revealed to him the golden core. WWX just did it without asking or telling, and while we can see that as heroic, we can also see it as disrespectful because he didn’t think that Jiang Cheng was mature enough to handle it. Perhaps if WWX had trusted him more, Jiang Cheng wouldn’t have felt that WWX was disrespecting him. We’ll never know because WWX never gave him the chance to be that mature. He took the decision away from him.

Then when WWX was defending Wen clan members–who JC already hated because they’re Wens–even then, he still tried to defend WWX. But as we’ve seen in the last few chapters, it’s hard to work against the current of dozens of people who have already made up their minds. JC was necessarily more conscious of the opinions of the other clans because he had his own clan standing to think of. WWX was just a disciple, but JC was clan leader. He was also very young and had to build his home from scratch after just losing his parents (something he also perceived to be partly WWX’s fault because he attacked Wen Chao in the cave of Xuanyu, all to defend people of other clans–putting other clans before their own).

In short, they both made decisions the best they could, and it led to the series of tragic events in the past. Whose fault is it? That’s the wrong question to ask because this isn’t a story about fault. It’s about how everyone has their reasons for doing things, and trying to point the finger in vengeance (like that guy whose parents were killed by WWX) isn’t actually going to change anything. Even if you get revenge a hundred-fold, the effects of past decisions will remain.

      1. yes i do understand that jc need to think his position as a clan leader. Both of them have a shortcomings. Jc have insecurities because wwx have a chance to be a high level cultivator but we all know jc is sometimes just all talk that he hate wwx but still cares about him. we have to understand him, that for him wen clan is the reason he lost everything even wwx took their side. but just like other stories and based on previous chapters if only have this strong bonds with wwx, i mean a bond which can show the other clans that he will believe wwx loyalty no matter what, that he have this bond with him. I think, no other clan will bad mouth wwx or anything.

      2. E X A C T L Y !!!

I’ve been trying to say that so many times, but you just worded it way better than I did so far! Lol

Guilt and vengeance lead nowhere. You must simply take responsibilities of your actions and do your best with what you have. And the more you believe that others will do the same, the better they will actually do it. The problem of the complex hero is that it keeps ppl in a position of victims, depriving them of their power, that can come only from taking responsibility for themselves.

Basically, keeping JC in the dark on so many secrets, it’s stealing the strenght he can build by facing his demons, either internal or external. It’s confirming that he’s not good enough to take it. So it’s telling him that his mom was right all along, he could never be as good as WWX.

The problem is that their strenghts do not lie in the same direction, and comparing them, rating some as more important than others, is a disservice to both of them. And they were too young to be able to overcome that education on their own, with all the hardship thrown on them all of a sudden.

Maybe, once all those events are settled, they can learn to work together again, building on their own strenghts rather than staying in the drama triangle of Karpman persecutor/victim/savior.

    3. He is a product of bad parenting by Jiang Fengmian and madam Yu, while one ignored him other never stopped comparing him with WWX. In this competitive world, he forgot about love and human values

  4. Wei ying loves his family so much that he will do anything for them. Too bad, jiang cheng’s hatred for what happened blinded him of this fact. My heart hurts for these two brothers.

  5. Wait, then how did WWX sword unsheathed itself that one time at the bronze mirror secret room of Jin Guanyao? If wwx doesn’t have a golden core anymore

  6. I just like how the author made everyone has their own suffering backgrounds with each of them having their own reasoning of living their lives. However, in the end humans r humans. We blame, rage & fight to survive. Tragic, but beautiful in a way?

  7. The first time I read this it killed me. The realization of just how deep WuXians heart is hit me on a profound level. His loyalty and love for his family out classes anyone and everyone. He has the heart of a lion and no one not even WangJi (no matter how much I love him) can compare to WuXian. He is the most incredible character I have ever read, ever come across. He has suffered so much to do what is right, accepted so much ridicule and hate for being the only person to do what needed to be done when no one else would have even thought about doing it. He suffered unimaginably for the mistakes he has made but I am happy that hes sacrifices and his suffering were rewarded with a new life, companionship and love. I adore WuXian with my whole heart. Who else in the entire world would give so much for those he loves? I cant deal with this revelation.

  8. “He couldn’t have kept it from Sect Leader Jiang for his whole life, could he?”
He did, even as he was killed by JC at Burial Grounds in his first life.

    1. Jc didn’t kill him. Wwx clarified it to wen ning already. Although it was jc who was the main force of first seige..unfortunately

    1. Actually, it’s not a core FROM MXY, but rather that this body can form a new one. The author has confirmed it even though she never wrote about it.

  9. people saying Jiang Cheng is just hateful, you probably haven’t empathized well on his character just because he’s not the lead. if you delve more to his character you will understand why he’s the way he is now. remember how he was treated by his mother and his father especially when Wei Ying came to their household. he was exposed to bad tempered mother. his father who’s still mourning over his unrequited love doesn’t even care about him. both his father & sister looked like they favored the newcomer than him. everyone in his sect where he will lead in the future acknowledges the newcomer also as the best in everything. although he’s probably glad he’s got a brother who promised with him to protect each other, everything that happens everyday has affected him in some way. still, he treated WY like a real brother. then afterwards, his family & his people died all because of the person he treated like a brother (although everything is not WY’s fault). imagine youself in his situation, how would you react? would you treat the person you think is the reason you’ve become miserable well? or will you react the same way JC did? lashing out to WY, LZ & WN is his way to cope up with his anger &. agony.

      1. But in the Novel it do say he decide to give up and marry JC mother after cangse sanren marry wei wuxian father .so this already made it clear that it really wasnt only rumour .he might not have same feeling like before but who knows every sane people will think he took wei wuxian because he love his mother before .and I think novel also made it clear that cangse was suppose to be a future mistress of lotus peir and I think she married hurried too because she might think she was the reason causing JC father to marry other.

As there is much chances your parents love other before he met your mother. And his marriage was force too .And it do see to me he take wei wuxian for same reason and favour him much as he treated him much like his own child like Lanzhan doing do to A yaun .

    1. stop vicmizing jc, yes he suffered a lot but so did half of the characters and they all grew out of it, jc is the only one who refuse to move on and still to this day refuse to let go of the past

      1. I wouldn’t say they all grew out of it, rather the only ones who really did it so far were LWJ after WWX’s death, and WWX himself for the same reason. But other than that?!? Look at all the chaos JGY has created because he never outgrew his bitterness toward his father and his “low birth”.

So, do they all need to face death one way or another to grow up and mature…? Hopefully not, or humanity is doomed! Lol But in the meantime, the story is also about becoming a better person through hardship, and that better version of self is not always what one might think…

  10. You know even though I already watch the drama, donghua and read manhua for so many times THIS PART STILL BROKE MY HEART. And this might be a happy part too because this might be Wen Ning’s longest words spoken

  11. Lan WangJi looked down. His glass-like eyes gazed at Wei WuXian’s face as he extended his hand. In the end, he only brushed the tip of his finger against Wei WuXian’s cheek, almost unnoticeably.

  12. To think that Wei WuXian has managed two seemingly impossible feats – transfer his golden core and be reborn (so to say) into a new host body. Man truly is a marvel and deserves so much better than he’s gotten.

  13. People reading this chapter don’t hate Jiang Cheng much. Judge after reading till the last chapter. Tere are still matters to be revealed after all.

    1. Oooooh yes!!! Too many ppl have yet to learn the same lesson as those old cultivators: don’t judge a book on his cover, don’t believe every rumor, don’t take things at face value.

We should judge someone only after we’ve lived for a year in their shoes! 😉

  14. I swear I will never forget our noble boy, the one that sacrificed himself for the ones he loves. Wei WuXian have my entire heart. The poor boy have suffered a lot😭

  15. If you haven’t watched this part of the drama, please do!
The actor who acted at LZ’s expression was so amazing that I felt love and pain…

  16. I’m fckn SOBBBIIIIIIIING just like I did in EP 46 of The Untamed
JC, Wei Ying has never done anything but love you and protect you
    You fool😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I’m reminded of Jiang Cheng’s character song lyrics “Iike a silkworm I was enmeshed in the web of my own spinning”
    Ahhh I can’t breathe😭😭😭 ………..

  17. C made one big inexcusable mistake: announcing he kicked Wei Ying out of Jiang clan. I don’t agree with how people say WWX “defected” and went to protect “The clan that killed his family” AT ALL!!!! Wen Qing and Wen Ning and their family had NOTHING to do with the killings and if one
person knew that, it would be Jiang Cheng. They actually were the ONLY ONES, out of the other clans, who helped with saving Jiang Cheng and his parents’ bodies and everything else they did to help them (specifically helped Jiang Cheng you’ll know why later on). If anyone else announced to the world that Wuxian defected it would be fine but Jiang Cheng should not have announced that EVER ….when he was literally the one who knew exactly the “Wens” his brother was trying to protect were not only COMPLETELY innocent but literally the only reason why they (and especially himself) could survive back then. It was his DUTY to go protect at least Wen Ning and the woman he claimed to love, Wen Qing, with Wei Wuxian but instead, he tells Wuxian
“I can’t protect you” and kicks him out of the clan. Understandably, WenQing immediately returns the comb to him, directly showing him how he is completely in the wrong. And when he says “I can’t protect you” to my baby omg it is so obvious, from Xiao Zhan’s amazing expression and
that Wuxian’s heart broke into a million pieces… he did not expect to hear such a thing at all.. his mouth is left slightly open and
then he turns around sheds a tear and says “if you can’t protect me… let me go” and cries…….😭😭😭😭😭 Xiao Zhan’s acting was fckn CRAAAAZY GOOD as always in this scene too in The Untamed I was left speechless and broken
That sentence breaks me every time it is indescribable how much it pained and broke Wei Ying😭😭😭😭
