Chapter 47: Kissed!

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Kiramekineko

Su Rui’s legs went weak, and he was about to fall to the ground—but he didn’t.

A breeze, coming from nowhere, held him up from behind.

Han Tian paced slowly past him and gave him a look.

The meaning in his eyes was clear: What are you talking about?

Su Rui immediately shook his head frantically and said pitifully that he didn’t say anything.

“Han Tian!” Qiao Xi laughed and walked toward Han Tian. “So soon! I haven’t even started looking for the book yet.”

“Just in time, this is my former classmate, I didn’t expect him to be a librarian now, what a coincidence.” Qiao Xi introduced him to Han Tian.

“Really? What a coincidence.” Han Tian said, “I’m Qiao Xi’s friend, I’m Han Tian, and you?”

“I, I, I’m Su Rui…” Su Rui’s forehead was beaded with sweat, and he didn’t dare to reach out to wipe it.

“Librarians,” Han Tian said lightly, looking around at the still sleeping readers, “have it very hard, right?”

“No, no, it’s not hard. It’s, it’s, it’s good for people to sleep here too. As soon as they fall asleep, I… It’s not hard at all.” Su Rui said almost in tears.

“Su Rui, what’s wrong with you?” Qiao Xi looked at Su Rui’s reaction, which was obviously not right, and became more and more puzzled.

“Qiao Xi, I’m a little, uh, a little, uncomfortable.” Su Rui was really on the verge of tears. “Can I, uh, go first and we’ll talk later?”

His mouth was talking to Qiao Xi, but his eyes kept glancing at Han Tian.

Han Tian nodded his head unnoticeably.

As a result, before Qiao Xi could say anything, Su Rui ran away from the hall like the wind.

Qiao Xi even felt that he heard Su Rui’s “ah ah ah” cry after he ran away. It was like—Qiao Xi suddenly thought that it was like running away from an angel chasing a demon.

Strange, how can I suddenly think of this? Could it be that the conversation in the morning had made too much of an impression on him?

“Uh… I’m sorry, he’s a student, sometimes a bit confused.” For Su Rui to behave so rudely, Qiao Xi felt that he still needed to explain.

“It’s okay. Want to go find a book together?” Han Tian asked.

“…Well, no need… I think maybe an e-book will be enough,” Qiao Xi said.

He paused and asked, as if nothing had happened, “By the way, Han Tian, why are these people sleeping so heavily, are they okay?”

Han Tian didn’t look around, but said blandly, “Their breathing sounds stable, they should be awake soon.”

Sure enough, as they were talking, someone raised his head from the table, rubbed his eyes, and muttered, “Ah… I slept so well… How come I’m so sleepy when I get here…”

“See, it’s okay.” Han Tian said, “If you don’t want to find the book, then we’ll go home? Or, do you want to go somewhere else? Do you still want to watch a movie? Or, go to an amusement park?”

“No. Go home,” Qiao Xi replied somewhat sullenly.

Su Rui’s behavior was too weird. Last time and this time, he ran away after not saying two words.

Moreover, he obviously ran away after seeing me, the two times had only one thing in common—

Qiao Xi slightly turned his head sideways and looked at Han Tian, who had a calm face beside him.

Moreover, Han Tian’s reaction was somewhat unexpected.

For example, for these people who fell asleep.

In fact, Qiao Xi could guess that it was mostly Su Rui who used demon power on these people for whatever purpose.

However, why did Han Tian not feel strange at all? When ordinary people see so many people sleeping at the same time, they would feel that something is not right, right?

“What are you thinking about? So serious?” On the way to the parking lot, Han Tian asked, looking at Qiao Xi who was dazed.

“Oh, I’m thinking about my classmate…” Qiao Xi said. He thought about it, but tried to say, “I don’t know if it’s an illusion, but I always feel like he’s a little afraid of you?”

“Eh?” Han Tian seemed to be surprised.

He thought about it seriously and said, “Speaking of which, your classmate named Su Rui, did he once go to Medical College?”

Qiao Xi nodded. “Yes.” Although he didn’t know what Su Rui went to Medical College for.

Han Tian had a shy expression on his face. “Actually, when I was at Medical College, I was sometimes very strict in class.”

“You? Strict?” Qiao Xi looked at Han Tian in surprise.

He couldn’t imagine how Han Tian, who was always smiling, calm, and warm, would look like when he was stern.

“Perhaps the student has been criticized by me during the class?” Han Tian asked. “That’s why, when he saw me, he was slightly alarmed?”

If you say so, it seems to make sense?

But… He didn’t believe that Su Rui was the kind of person who would panic and run away when he was criticized by the teacher.

Moreover, Su Rui’s first change in attitude today was clearly due to the sight of this star.

Han Tian had told me to wear this star, and his strange brother would ask me to take it off and then give me another one, and Su Rui would change his face when he saw the star—so what was wrong with this star?

Qiao Xi’s eyebrows were getting tighter and tighter, and he was about to start biting his fingers.

“By the way, are we running out of flour at home? Let’s go buy some flour and a little cream? Let’s try making cream puffs tonight.” Han Tian changed the subject.

“Ah, okay!” Hearing that he could challenge himself to a fresh variety, Qiao Xi immediately pushed down the little doubt and took out his phone and started searching for “cream puff making tutorials”.

After arriving at the supermarket, Qiao Xi was proud to find that he could tell what flour was used to make bread and what flour was used to make cakes; he also knew that cream was used to make puffs, but a little butter was needed to make the shells.

He didn’t hide this little triumph in front of Han Tian, but began to count on his fingers, “First, add butter, sugar, and salt, add some water, and cook together; second, add flour, then keep stirring…”

As he counted, he looked at Han Tian with great anticipation, almost writing on his head, “Compliment me! I’m great!”

Finally, Han Tian said what he wanted to hear: “You remembered everything? That’s great!”

Qiao Xi looked at Han Tian, but he didn’t stop talking and continued, “Step 5: Add the eggs one at a time and keep mixing while over low heat…”

Han Tian smiled helplessly and said, “Okay, I know you’re great. I’ll leave it to you to make the puff shells, okay?”

Qiao Xi was satisfied and stopped talking.

The two of them had a good shopping trip this time. But after buying the flour, milk, butter, eggs and cream, Han Tian went around to the pet section and picked out a bag of dried fish.

“Dried fish?” Qiao Xi was confused.

There are no cats at home, right? And I do not dare to keep a cat. Not to mention, when he sees a cat by the roadside, he will detour.

Han Tian rubbed Qiao Xi’s hair and said, “Don’t worry, we don’t have cats at home. This is for wild cats.”

Wild cats? Qiao Xi still doesn’t quite understand. But it doesn’t matter: if Han Tian was willing to feed the wild cats on the roadside, then so be it.

In the evening, Han Tian did not go back on his word, and really let Qiao Xi make the puff shells independently, while he was responsible for whipping cream.

When Qiao Xi took the puff pastry out of the oven wearing insulated gloves, Han Tian praised, “Very good, the shapes are good.”

Qiao Xi smiled. “I’m learning by heart!”

Strangely enough, he never thought that he would be so interested in making desserts and pastries; he also didn’t think that he would be able to make a complete and tasty cake in less than half a month when he obviously didn’t even know how to make black tea at the beginning.

Oh, could this actually be my hidden talent?

Could it be that I’m the Demon World’s most rare, sweets-tasting little demon?

Wow, Qiao Xi couldn’t help but fall into a dream. Humph, after I’ve been promoted to a real demon, I’ll use this talent to make lots of desserts every day! Give some to Han Tian, give some to Tong Tong, and take the rest to Angel’s Feather…

Wait, if I make all these desserts, can I change the name of the store to “Devil’s Feather”?

Speaking of which, why was this store called “Angel’s Feather” in the first place?

While Qiao Xi was thinking about it, the puff shells were already cold, and Han Tian had carefully cut small slits in each puff to make it easier to squeeze the cream in.

“The whipped cream turned out to be like this.” Qiao Xi sighed as he looked at the semi-solidified cream in the large glass bowl.

“Mn, I added a little rum so it won’t be greasy,” Han Tian said as he poured the cream into the laminating bag. However, the cream, which had been completely whipped, was itself sticky, so there would be a little left in the glass bowl.

Qiao Xi looked at the big bowl, dipped his index finger into the cream and put it into his mouth.

Well, it was really thick but not greasy, soft and smooth, with a little bit of the unique fragrance of rum.

Qiao Xi smacked his lips and dipped some more cream into his mouth in line with the “never waste” principle.

It was so good that he wanted to pick up the bowl and lick it.

“What are you…doing?” Han Tian, who was concentrating on processing the puffs, stopped his hand movements at some point and stared at Qiao Xi with a slight frown.

Qiao Xi explained awkwardly, “I just want to taste the cream…”

He said this while trying to lick his fingertips clean, trying to eliminate all the “incriminating” evidence on his hands.

“That’s enough,” Han Tian said in a low voice.

“Oh…” Qiao Xi put down his hand in a daze and stared at Han Tian.

It’s an illusion that Han Tian’s eyes have never been so deep. It was almost… It’s like a hellhound that sees a low-level demon and wants to pounce on it.

Being watched by Han Tian, Qiao Xi felt like his heart was hanging by a thread, his breathing was getting more and more rapid, and even his forehead was sweating.

As if to break the embarrassment, he pulled the corner of his mouth, dipped his hand into a little more cream and brought it to Han Tian’s lips, whispering, “It’s really sweet, don’t you want to taste it?”

Han Tian’s eyes darkened, and even his breathing got heavier.

Finally, Han Tian opened his mouth and rolled the wisp of cream into it.

In the next second, Qiao Xi had no time to withdraw his hand.

His wrist was clutched by Han Tian and brought back—his whole body stuck in Han Tian’s arms.

He raised his face openly and tried to say something, but all he could do was make a strange whimpering sound—something was holding his lips.

It was more fragrant than wine, silkier than cream, and sweeter than any dessert he had tasted in the previous twenty years of his life.

He seemed to spin awkwardly in place, and was led to start a round dance.

His partner had a firm grip on him, and he didn’t know where to put his hands, so he could only passively follow along.

His thoughts were disorganized and his consciousness slowly collapsed. Whose heartbeat was it that was like the sound of the sound of music in his ears?

In the heat and confusion, he heard the sound of cups and bowls falling to the ground.

He began to panic, and his hands began to claw feebly, but his partner did not move, did not intend to let go of him.

Until a buzz—buzz—buzz vibration sounded from the cooking table.

“Leave it alone!” Han Tian slightly staggered, his voice raspy.

After an unknown amount of time, the vibrations stopped.

Then it rang again.

This time, there was not only vibration, but also the tinkling bell of the spring.

Qiao Xi’s pupils shrank and he finally struggled to take a step back, gasping unsteadily, “That, that’s my phone!”

In the earthly realm, the only humans who would call him were Sang Sang and Yan Linlin from the orphanage, who wouldn’t have called him if it wasn’t an urgent matter.

He turned his head sideways, not daring to look at Han Tian’s face, but stumbled and lunged to the cooking table, grabbed the phone and picked it up.

“Mr. Qiao Xi? Ah, this is Yan Linlin, Dr. Han didn’t answer my call just now. Xiao Guang has finally come to his senses in the past two days and says he wants to see you all no matter what, especially to apologize to you in person! If it’s convenient for you, can you come and see him?”

Qiao Xi took a few deep breaths and tried to sound as normal as possible. “Great. I… We’ll go tomorrow.”

QX is seeing the stuff that doesn’t quite add up & asking questions, but has the attention span of a gnat! He seems happier accepting HT’s explanations. It’s as though he’s avoiding what I think deep down he has an inkling of.
Evans’ info that QX is totally unaware of his attractiveness is also true. His innocent but seductive actions were certainly more than HT could control reacting to.
Saved by the bell (damn it).
Hope this invite has nothing to do with what’s in Luo Lin’s basement 😬
