So, we’ve been getting a lot of people who are mad at us over making the most recent chapter of LMW user only. However, after 24 hours, the chapter is avalible for everyone. Only for the first 24 hours is it user accessible only.
I also heard a rumor that LMW will be taken off of Novel Updates due to this. But we are not stopping releases, or even making all releases user only.
24 hours after the chapter release, it is made public. You do not have to make an account if you don’t want to, only if you want the most recent chapter immediately as it is released.
If you make an account, you’ll get the most recent chapter as well as access to the full books that we made into epub, mobi, pdf etc.
On that note, if you’re so frustrated about the way we do things, you don’t have to read our releases. You don’t even have to come to our site. There are plenty of novels out there and we do not have to deal with anyone who badmouths us or degrades our work.
That’s my rant and explanation for the day.
Next locked chapter will be out in a few hours.
Addis

I certainly appreciate all this groups efforts and extremely hard work! THANK YOU sooooo very much!
Well, hunnies, just tell ’em…”whatever…” out of sight, out of mind.
and thank you for translating and releasing the adventure of Momo and his hubby.
oh my, there’s still people whining about have to do acc or what so ever.. didn’t know that kind of person really does exist.. didn’t that person know that EXR is the best translator ever? keep it up, just ignore these kind of annoying people 🤗♥♥♥
Thank you and thumbs up all ExR members for amazing translation always
sigh..
what the hell with this ppl…
they can’t just stop huh ?
If I meet one of this ppl, I need to lash them as soon as possible…
They can read it for free and they shamelessly critics the translator, stupid ppl can’t they understand that is so damn difficult to read these chinese novel with MTL so much, that when it happens to being translated by someone it makes my day ?!?
If I can just read every Chinese BL Translation for free and they updated it every week (day), even if I need to make 100 acc in 100 website I’ll just do it dammit, it’s so much easier, u can even make it using ur another gmail account!!!
*so angry* can’t hold it-sorry*
People complain about everything I swear. Registering isn’t that big of a hurdle. Not to mention I was surprised to see some links pop up that I hadn’t seen before prior to registering… (i.e. the Legendary master’s wife pdfs) Honestly I lamented over the quality of the translations before this team (no offense to the previous translator, but they did clearly state that they didn’t understand chinese so it’s to be expected..) and when I saw that you guys proofread it for the pdf release I was /so/ happy.
It’s disheartening when fans don’t know how to appreciate nice things! This team doesn’t owe us anything…this is provided by fans for fans. I’m eternally grateful for the hard work!
I hope that the rumor is baseless and not fact because it seems really petty to get removed from novel updates purely because you want more control over where the translations are shared. :V
Novel Updates did indeed stop updating LMW on their site with our releases. Saying that making it user or password protected is against their policy.
However, I find this highly hypocritical to do to us when I see novels get updated on there all the time that are password protected or even user only.
Honestly, I didn’t even know that NU stopped updating LMW.. Not that I didn’t care, but because I have been following you guys since before you said that we can registered on your site.. So I always knew when ExR updating LMW.. You guys are awesome. Do not bother about bad comments because people who supporting all of you is a lot more..
Love you guys so much.. 💖💖💖
Novel Updates does not link to releases that are locked behind registration or payment requirements. It’s a blanket zero-tolerance policy. There are no exceptions, and you do *not* see password protected or user only novels being updated there all the time. You *never* see that.
If by some twist of fate you do, then report them, and they’ll be swiftly removed.
If these releases are made publicly available after twenty-four hours, they’ll be allowed on Novel Updates after those twenty-four hours. *Not* completely removed from the site. The misunderstanding stems from the fact that no one – even some of the translators around here – knew that these releases were being locked and/or that the lock was temporary.
WE ASKED.
We asked as well.
There are locked chapters on Novel Updates that are exactly like ours that release publicly after so many hours.
The person we talked to from NU has told us that LMW will be now manually updated once our chapters are publicly released. The reason why it was stopped updating was due to the fact that the bot they use does not add ones hidden behind user protected posts.
There are more password protected and paid for only posts that are added to NU than you would believe. It’s not a never type situation.
I for one have nooooo complaints. I recently got it in my head to learn to read Chinese (in the hopes of being able to offer help at some point down the road). OMG what is wrong with this language’s sentence structure? So for everyone who wants to complain about anything regarding these translations…might I suggest you go learn the language and then you wouldn’t have to put up with all of the unreasonableness of the mean translators (insert sarcasm here).
But if you are really impatient and don’t want to learn to read Chinese, but MUST have LMW NOW and you can’t handle registering, there is an alternative that will actually get you ahead of the releases. Go to Patreon and become a donor. If that still doesn’t work for you then might I suggest….suck it up, buttercup.
oh and kudos to the translators for learning this language…and people say English is hard. Hey, English makes sense (sometimes). Anyways, you guys deserve an award
I support you guys no matter what 👍👍👍
Thank you for all the hardwork.
It was so easy to register too. Hopefully a mod or something at NU realizes that they are being silly.
To the ExR family, thank you for the love, laughter, community and amazing content you guys push out. Please don’t listen to the mean people. *gives hugs*
What’s people’s problem! Waiting a day won’t kill anyone, plus you can just make an account??? What’s so difficult about that.
You give us chapters to read totally for free, and very good translations too, I don’t see the problem in having to wait a day if you don’t wanna register. It’s not like they can’t read it ever again anyway.
Just ignore these dumb complaints and know that there are fans that really appreciate your work, and are really happy to be able to read the novels you translate (like me, I love you guys!)
If they have such a problem with this sites reasonable policies, then maybe they should try translating the text themselves. Some people are completely ungrateful asses.
I don’t get it…it is super easy to create an account. And one doesn’t even pay for it. I love you guys and appreciate the effort you take to translate these amazing books for us.
Thank you for your work and for introducing me to the world of Chinese bl.
Making an account takes a few seconds so I don’t get the ones who are complaining.
Forget that complainers. If making an account is too difficult for them, then it’s a waste to keep pleasing them. It’s obvious that those thiefs are among them.
Isn’t it a good manner to introduce ourself to the host whenever we visit a house or forum? Insisting to be anonymous is baffling me. It’s rude and suspicious.
ExR should enforce Log In account and password protection. You guys have work hard for this site, it deserve respect and acknowledgement. I would still loging in to your LMW translation even if you charge $ 1.00 monthly membership.
Maybe some people just don’t want to make an account. Calling it suspicious or rude is over-generalizing it. I understand this might be an unpopular opinion here, possibly since many of the people leaving a reply have accounts, but after reading all the comments here and in past posts about similar issues, I just couldn’t leave this being unsaid anymore. To be clear from the start I don’t have an issue with the site itself or the way they chose to handle things.
Why should I be forced to make an account? I don’t know what information is being collected with a registered account and how it’s being used. When I do get told, it’s with vague wording that leaves the website with the account open to use that information however they wish. In light of recent events with some unnamed social media site maybe it’d be better for more people to be more wary. To be honest this is the biggest hurdle for me to make an account here. I’ve never really understood why this site has a registration, if someone could enlighten me here, I’d gladly welcome it and maybe consider making an account.
Don’t I know what benefits are included when making an account? Yes, I did read everyone’s comments, the post itself, as well as past posts and the FAQ which talk about what’s included. So what? If I was comfortable trading information for access, I would have done it already! Almost everything on the internet is a transaction. If you think you’re getting something for free, maybe you should make sure you’re not the product. If I want access to all the benefits included in making an account, I’d like to know, what price am I paying? It’s a little hard for me to believe this is truly free, though I’m not saying it’s outside the realm of possibility.
Saying it’s only good manners to introduce ourselves to the host in a house or forum… do you think this is a house? It’s the internet, people visit sites every day without ever making their presence known. As for a forum, have you ever not visited a forum to get an answer or read a thread and not commented? I’d be surprised if you haven’t. Maybe I just don’t want to say anything! Is that so hard to believe?!
And to be clear again, it’s fine to be upset on the behalf of the translators. I am upset on their behalf. I am more upset than any of the rest of you, not only is it unfair to the ones running the site, wallflowers like me also get misrepresented to the rest of you and then I have to read things like ‘some people didn’t want to make a little effort’ or ‘insisting to be anonymous is baffling to me’. My only complaint here is the list of comments talking about how it’s sooooo hard to believe anyone wouldn’t want to register and how whoever doesn’t have an account is soooo rude and did you read the other 20 comments about how easy it is to make an account? Only an idiot wouldn’t make one! Well here’s one idiot not making an account. Is this still too hard for you to understand?
I’m done ranting… Maybe I’ve just made myself out to be a paranoid shut-in… but if a single person can read this and begin to consider there’s a reason for not wanting to make an account, I’ll be happy.
On a separate note, the exiledrebelsscanlations team is actually very nice and considerate. Even when figuring out how to deal with people ignoring rules and posting their work without consent, how kind of them to leave an out for those of us who don’t want to make an account! I’m very grateful for all the hard work put into this site and the works provided. I’m sorry to hear there’s been bad experiences, but please do not think it’s representative of everyone reading and enjoying the work generously put out for free.
Indeed, my initial thought when I set up the registration & company was to keep giving access to everyone and not to force anyone to make an account, while still offering people a way to get the real text for novels (which is vital for those MTLing into Spanish for example). Now it’s being used pretty much everywhere on the site in different flavors, but still no account is required. If you are willing to wait, LMW chapters and manga download links for whole volumes will become public after a given amount of time. For perennity concerns, we also upload our files on a certain site that stands in as a replacement for MangaTraders, should something ever happen to this site.
I’m also pretty wary of the information collected by sites, so I understand your reticence. Here, the registration requires an email (to reset your password for example) and a password, you can also choose to enter a real or fake name. We do have a Google Analytics running on the site in addition to WordPress’ basic statistics, which I use to optimize the user experience, but we do not share this data and certainly don’t sell it. We’ve been lucky enough to receive enough money through Patreon to pay for the site, so this site does not need to pay itself.
That being said, it certainly doesn’t exclude the possibility of someone attacking our site or WordPress in general, which is why you should never use the same password. (Remember what happened with all those emails and passwords from MangaTraders?) If you have trouble memorizing all those passwords, there are encrypted password managers (KeePass, Password Safe, passbolt, etc) or you can keep them in a paper notebook (virtually unhackable from a remote location).
Whether you decide to create an account or not, I hope you’ll continue enjoying our releases!
Thanks for the chapter
All i can say is that they have so much time in their hands to complain all this BSs…there are no needs to hear them out if it is not relevant..ignore them..anyway good job on translating LMW..will always support u all..chaiyok everyone
Honestly it’s not a big deal though. I made the account and I got the promised chapter just fine. I really appreciate you guys hard work and it’s pretty understandable why it’s done this way. Thanks for all the updates you’ve done and keep up the good work 👍
Here’s a different comment for everyone. 😀
I’m sorry if this post sounds incoherent, I couldn’t quite figure out how to write it in a brief manner.
First of all, I was under the impression that all new releases would be account locked forever. (I know for a fact others thought the same.) It was not clear. I am glad to find out that it’s only 24 hours, I can return now. (Oh, but I guess you want me to leave? :P)
That said, it’s a matter of principle. Readers shouldn’t *have to* register and log in every time they want to read a chapter. For those of us who are already invested in the novels, it may seem like “no big deal” but it’s really tough getting people to do things that require registration. Why register when you can just read something else? It’s yet another password to remember.
I’m saying this as someone who has been around the manga and novel community for a long time (if this even means anything), but the more hoops and inconvenience you put people through, the more you drive them away to “competitors.” Groups that are *too* protective of their project end up killing the community that they try to foster. At the end of the day, it’s a matter of service.
I know how hard and/or time consuming translating and editing is, I really do. Of course, you can do whatever you want with your translations and your site. I am just saying I disagree with the decision and explaining why. And this is more of a comment to other readers out there, not necessarily Exiled Rebels, but this matter isn’t simply a clash between “ungrateful readers” and “selfless translators.” It’s a sort of… difference in philosophy?
I said it before and I’ll say it again.
If you do not like the way we release OUR hard work, you do not have to read it. It is not a “matter of principle”. It is OUR site and we have the RIGHT to release however we deem necessary.
If you are not invested into our novels, then why are you here? Why are you complaining?
You said it yourself, “Why register when you can just read something else.” Does it look like we are stopping you? You do not have to visit our site. You are the one who chose to. It’s no loss off our backs if you think we are “inconveniencing” you.
No other group is a competitor. No one else is translating the novels we are, so where’s the competition? Everyone has different tastes in style so of course not all our novels will be popular.
I don’t understand where you are coming from by saying we will kill the community by protecting our work. Obviously, you have never taken the time to translate a novel yourself as you do not know the amount of time that goes into it. I also bet you’ve never bought a raw of any novel or manga, you just want everything easy and free.
It’s not a matter of service. We translate the works we do because we like them, because we want to share them. Service does not relate to anything “free”.
I’m just presenting a different perspective. As I before, I do not disagree that it’s your site and you can do what you like. It’s up to you.
And on the matter of a “competitors”, you do have some, many in fact: aggregators. The sites that rip your novels. These are the people you’re trying to fight off.
But not even taking into account those other sites, what you’re really at risk for is turning off your readers. Not everyone is like me who will post on what they agree or disagree about, they just stop reading and leave. (But I guess maybe you want them to?) This results in reduced reader participation in “the community” (not just strictly on ExR’s site). And perhaps the most pernicious of all, creates a discouraging atmosphere for recruiting potential staff members.
I really do like your works. So yes, I am invested, painfully so. They’re relatively consistent and high quality, which is rare. That is why these policy changes worry me. I really didn’t want to say this, but based on all that I’ve seen with groups, doing such things usually is a predictor of the group quitting or going inactive. It makes me nervous.
P.S. You are making assumptions about me. I’ve tried translating novels and found it above my pay grade, so yes, it takes real skill. I’ve tried learning Japanese and am still trying all for the sake of translating. I’ve proofread novels. I’ve bought manga. I’ve bought “raw” manga. I’ve edited manga so much that I had pains in my hands and had to stop. D’: Lots of years and lots of money and perhaps even my health that I’ve spent on it all, so please, don’t try to use that as excuse to write me off.
In reply to your ungrateful comment: Your so-called “philosophy” is flawed af.
1/ “Readers shouldn’t *have to* register and log in every time they want to read a chapter” => Idk how long you have been around the internet, but I’m sure you know next to nothing. Your whole life must have been reading yaoi from aggregator sites like mangago or myreadingmanga. You have never thought about how a group obtains the raws of their projects. Free raws available on yaoiotaku? Sign-up required. Free raws on nihonnomaru? Sign-up required. And I didn’t say the fact that the person behind those free raws and even the scan groups have to pay for them in order to post it free online.
Another fact that didn’t come through your head is that what all scan groups are doing is basically stepping on the landmine of copyright protection. They are offering you free goods which can pretty much get them a fine or send them to jail. A simple registration is a good way to help most sites cover their fucking ass. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean everything is free and available to be sent straight to your mouth.
2/ “It’s really tough for people to sign up” => You put down your nickname, your password, your email, hit send, wait for the registration link, and done. Hmmmm, those steps remind me of something similar, idk, every social media ever (and I didn’t mention that game accounts like Steam need you to open your email to put down the code it send you every time you login)? How hard can that be? 😮
3/ “Why register when you can just read something else? It’s yet another password to remember” => Then go read something else, lololol, why are you even here to complain. As for the password, idk, 123456789? You are just a tiny spec of dust in this universe, no one care enough to steal your account. I mean, what is there to steal? This site doesn’t even have ads to sell your info to ads company.
4/ “I’m saying this as someone who has been around the manga and novel community for a long time (if this even means anything), but the more hoops and inconvenience you put people through, the more you drive them away to “competitors.”” => I have been a fan of LMW since forever and I was heartbroken when I heard the previous translator will drop it due to its length. I think even if they put more inconvenience, I doubt people will mind that much since no individual would want to “waste” that much time of their life on translating a fucking 700 chaps novel. So like, I don’t think ExR even have to care about competitors at this point? (And what is there to compete about? Groups pick their own novels, fans follow the novels they like, I can’t see any competition between groups). I also have been around this community as long as I remember, and no, ExR is like the least effort I have to put in order to read something. Madokami even need you to download an iRC software, sign up an account, join this certain chat, ask for an account, wait for a reply, and then you can fucking sign up for it. ExR doesn’t need you to go that far.
5/ “Groups that are *too* protective of their project end up killing the community that they try to foster.” =>And they are more appreciative of those who stay, since they could be considered real fans and not some random strangers thinking they are entitled to everything. Being too protective doesn’t mean they lose fans, they only lose arrogant lazy ass stranger anon who can’t even do the simplest task. The Internet might not be the place for intellectuals, but I think people need at least a small amount of IQ to know that having to register is not the strangest thing ever.
6/ “I know how hard and/or time-consuming translating and editing is, I really do.” => No, you don’t. The fact that you think everything is free for readers and readers don’t have to do shit means that you have the least idea about the work behind the stage. I am grateful enough that someone is willing to spend their time to do some volunteer free shit stuff, that in order to able to pull this through, they also have to spend another shit ton of time AND MONEY to learn the language and the required technical skills (I don’t even know how the fuck they can clean a page of manga). You think languages can be translated on their own? I am taking another language other than my mother tongue (English is not my native language), and the difference between cultures makes every language a whole new universe. It’s not as simple as some free language app that only offers the basic conversational topics, there are slangs, historical quotes, idioms, etc., that can’t be understood from a basic perspective. And boi, Chinese characters are logograms! Which mean your excuse “hard to remember password” is like a puny little task compared to what all language students have to do, especially with logogram languages like Chinese or Japanese.
In conclusion, if you assume the amount of effort you have to spend in order to register an account can be compared to the effort every scan group needs to make in order to bring us, the readers, a free and time-wasting shit, then I think your opinion is worthless. Not even worthy of being called “philosophy”. Also, fyi, “philosophy” is derived from Greek “philos”, beloved, and “sophia”, wisdom. If your opinions are so narrow-minded, you’re misusing the word.
P/s: I don’t want to be mean, but your comment reeks of arrogance and I couldn’t help myself from explaining how flawed your opinion is. I mean, they don’t even require you to pay anything, just a simple register and you’re done. It takes like 5-15 minutes of your life (no brain required), but it takes the scan groups more than just a simple day off. Be appreciative of what they gave you and abide by their rules.
It’s okay to attack my intelligence, my feelings won’t get hurt. It doesn’t add credence to your reply though.
I was around since before “aggregators” were even a thing. And in fact, I do know how all this works because I’ve been a scanlator for several years. Buying raws, editing raws, proof-reading… 😛 I’ve overworked myself that I had to temporarily retire because of pain from overworking with a mouse… I never did it because I was I wanted people to be “grateful”. I did it because I liked something and wanted others to like it too. That’s why I find this cult of translators/scanlators “can do no wrong” a bit off-putting.
I simply believe in an “open” policy. The better the experience you make, the more people will partake. I think accounts and posting text as images is a bad user experience. It’s detrimental in the long run. If you disagree with that, it’s fine. And as I said before, if Exiled Rebels disagrees with that, that’s fine too. It’s their work, and it’s their site, I don’t dispute it.
Yes!! Good post. Your 5th point describes one of an admins’ little tools-“Being too protective doesn’t mean they lose fans, they only lose arrogant lazy ass stranger anon who can’t even do the simplest task. The Internet might not be the place for intellectuals, but I think people need at least a small amount of IQ…” 😀
The op stated they had already registered an account and said logging in should be simplified…lower the bar, devolution, lessen the degree of difficulty or perhaps just preclude basic cognitive process…and that is what makes those little ‘tools’ so sweet 🙂
Just don’t bother ’bout them, its not good for health
Thank you for everything… I love you all ❤❤😘😘😚
“if you’re so frustrated about the way we do things, you don’t have to read our releases. You don’t even have to come to our site.” —So true, you are right! People can be so unreasonable and ungrateful. Thank you for keep goin, really appreciate your hard work.
I’m sorry that you guys were harassed by ungrateful readers. I, and many others, appreciate all the hard work put into translating the wonderfully delicious stories on this site. The escape from reality that these stories provide help keep me afloat in life and I would have been a much more sadder person without you guys.
Again, I’m sorry about the mad readers and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for continuing despite that!
We asked as well. There are locked chapters on Novel Updates, but they are exactly like ours where they become publicly avalible later on.
The person we talked to from NU has told us that LMW will be now manually updated once our chapters are publicly released. The bots they are using do not add ones hidden behind user protected posts, that is why it is a zero tolerance, because a computer system does it.
I don’t have an account and I don’t mind at all! I mean we’re already spoiled by the quality and frequency of new chapters are posted, so I don’t see why anyone should be complaining. I hope there’s not too much trouble in the future and thanks so much for translating!!!😄
It’s not even hard to make accounts :/ these impatient people who cannot take even 5 minutes to make account should not even complain.
First of all thank you for translating. Love this story! It’s not the first time you guys had warned and opted to take action against those who publish unwantedly. I think in this case you waited a very long time. It was easy to make an account so all is well. Those who complain might also have ulterior thoughts, and there will be always some haters for some unknown reason. Anyways keep up the good work! Thanks to your updates my days are often great (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)!
