SUMMARY:

Luo XiaoLou is reborn on the day of his engagement four thousand years later into the Mecha Age and realizes that his current situation is tragic. Not only is he an illegitimate child, but he also has poor physical health, a low genetic rank, and barely passing grades. In order to survive, Luo XiaoLou has no choice but to accept his fate and work hard.

Luo XiaoLou wanted to be unknown, but he meets the bossy Yuan Xi, so has to agree to sign a slave contract and do Yuan Xi’s bidding.

Luo XiaoLou is a typical man of the times, realistic and willing to yield to others for the sake of survival, seemingly cowardly to the point of no boundaries. But in fact, Luo XiaoLou still has his own principles and insistence, even in front of his overbearing and powerful master, Yuan Xi. He still insists on the principle of a gentleman’s love of money and the right way to get it, and protects his dignity as a man.

In this novel, the author portrays Luo XiaoLou’s character in a very realistic way, and his character can easily resonate with the readers.

Book One: The First Contract

Warning: Mentions of suicide and self-harm.

Chapter 1: One Step

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Sulo is excited for this!

(KarateChopMonkey pops in to fangirl as well)

Luo XiaoLou rubbed his forehead. It was as if there were needles stabbing into his head, his body screaming out in pain. After a long time, the symptoms didn’t subside, and he struggled to sit up. The room was white, the simplicity was excessive, and it was obvious that this was a bathroom. And definitely not his bathroom.

Why would he be here? The last thing he remembered was him going downstairs to get ready for his own engagement ceremony, taking a step, and then fainting.

Luo XiaoLou shuddered and quickly looked down; his body was naked. Instantly, Luo XiaoLou felt numb. Today was the day of his engagement and he had absolutely no intention, and dared not, to be unfaithful to his fiancée! Even when he was called a little white boy he didn’t think otherwise — he couldn’t be blamed, Josa was the daughter of a mob boss and it was hard for him to act like a macho man.

Luo XiaoLou felt guilty as he covered his unmentionables with his hand. He immediately felt a heart-piercing pain as he moved his right hand. Looking down, Luo XiaoLou was shocked, the bathwater at his side was blood red.

The source was his right wrist. 1

God, what was going on? He had never thought of killing himself!

Luo XiaoLou scrambled to his feet, one hand gently holding the wound. He had to stop the bleeding first, if it continued bleeding like this he would die. Luo XiaoLou’s eyes widened in shock as he passed the oversized mirror, and the person reflected returned the same frightened look.

The young man in the mirror was about seventeen or eighteen years old and, as he had lost a lot of blood, his face looked a little pale. But he was still very handsome and had shoulder-length black hair that rested disheveled on his shoulders. He was quite good-looking, however, his pair of eyes were swollen and red. Obviously, he had cried, but it still gave off a kind of ravishing sexiness.

For Luo XiaoLou, who had always been said to be underprivileged, such looks were definitely another tragedy.

Luo XiaoLou stared listlessly into the mirror, and by now, he realized that he had been reborn; a rare second chance to live. But — the heavens must not play with him so! He was to be engaged today! He kinda liked that sweet and spicy girl! No one should be reborn on the happiest day of their life.

Luo XiaoLou felt his body begin to chill down. He couldn’t look in the mirror any longer and ran towards the bathroom door to open it and leave. He had to call an ambulance! He had to live before he could think of a way to go back.

He kicked the door with his foot, but it didn’t budge. Luo XiaoLou used his left hand too, but it still didn’t open.

Damn it! The door must be locked! How determined was this body to commit suicide?

Luo XiaoLou was in a hurry, slapping the door with his hand and trying to raise his voice as loud as he could, “Hey! Help! Is there anyone out there? Help open the door! It’ll be too late! Oh shit, I’m going to die…”

Luo XiaoLou slammed down to the floor, going bleary-eyed for a while before he tried to struggle back up. He turned back to look at the bathroom door that had suddenly snapped open automatically. What the hell was going on with the door?

The room outside was still simple, and he couldn’t see any furniture other than a particularly clean and tidy bed, a bedside table, and a set of chairs of the same color scheme. Luo XiaoLou casually pulled off the bedspread and wrapped it around his waist, then spun around to look for a phone.

When he was about to cross the nightstand near the windowsill, the white nightstand suddenly moved. It spun around and a ball with metal arms and legs around it emerged from the top, instantly turning into a round-headed robot, before moving directly in front of him and making a sound, “Hello, Mr. Luo, how may I help you?”

Luo XiaoLou controlled himself not to scream, but his feet moved back a few steps. Finally, Luo XiaoLou tripped over himself and fell onto the bed. He didn’t have anything to defend himself with at hand, and the gun that Josa had given him couldn’t be around since he had changed bodies. The only thing on hand now was the sheet around his waist, and he could not let go of his cut wrist.

After staring at the robot for a moment to make sure it wasn’t an illusion, Luo XiaoLou asked nervously, “What are — you?” He wasn’t sure if that was too rude to ask.

“I’m A1, a home-based robot that takes care of your daily needs.”

A robot? And it’s a talking robot… Oh my God, what time and place have I been reborn into?

“What are your orders?”

Luo XiaoLou returned to his senses and mumbled, “Orders? Oh, I’m hurt, I need first-aid, call 120, or you can bring me the phone —”

A green light flashed over the robot’s head and then it walked along the white wall, lifting its machine arm and pressing it. The wall slid open and moved to either side. It was quite spacious inside, there was a division for the wardrobe and a place for other small items.

Robot A1 removed a metal box from inside, then moved to the side of the bed and said to Luo XiaoLou, who hadn’t yet returned to his senses, “Mr. Luo, for minor injuries, A1 can treat you.”

Opening the case, it took out a square instrument from inside and shone it at his right wrist. Then, the hideous wound on his wrist healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Luo XiaoLou opened his mouth wide and carefully touched the soon-to-be invisible white mark on his right wrist, and the pain disappeared. Other than the fact that he was still a little dizzy, it was almost unnoticeable that this man had tried to commit suicide.

That, that was it? What the hell is this device?

“It’s been repaired. Is there anything else you’d like me to do?”

It seemed that his rebirth wasn’t necessarily all that bad. It was so convenient to see and use this advanced technology.

“Find me clothes.” Luo XiaoLou observed robot A1 for a while before tentatively voicing his request.

The attentive and practical A1 didn’t disappoint him as it opened the wardrobe from the wall in the blink of an eye, and helped Luo XiaoLou take out a set of beige clothes. Judging by the style, the robot’s eye for detail wasn’t bad at all.

When Luo XiaoLou was fully dressed, the bedspread, which had just taken on the important responsibility of preserving its owner’s dignity, was tossed aside. Luo XiaoLou looked around and finally looked back at the robot he could communicate with, as he calmly asked, “Where is this? Who am I?”

“This is Major General Luo’s residence, and you are Luo XiaoLou,” said A1 neutrally. Seeing that Luo XiaoLou was pale, it thoughtfully brought him a glass of water.

Thank goodness this body had the same name. His father was a major general. Could it be that he was a second generation of a legendary official? This universal robot was his? Those high-tech drugs were also his?

He carefully reconfirmed, “That Major General Luo is my father?”

“Technically, yes. I heard from A2 that you’re Major General Luo’s illegitimate son. You were brought here by your mother to have your existence acknowledged in the last few days. Madame hasn’t agreed yet, so you’re staying at General Luo’s side apartment for now.”

Luo XiaoLou’s mouth spewed out water. This identity is too pitiful…

The owner of this body wasn’t even treated as well as he was in his original world because, before his rebirth, he had parents, brothers, and a fiancée. Although his family wasn’t so powerful, and the family business was small, and even if it was his younger brother who was going to inherit the family business, they definitely hadn’t treated him badly.

Others were reborn in order to win a new love after dumping their old love, to unify the worlds that had been fighting for a thousand generations… but his rebirth? All he could see was tragedy.

The new body was the illegitimate son of Major General Luo, the third child who was brought by his mistress. It was worth mentioning that the straightforward robot was firmly convinced that Madame and the young masters hated Luo XiaoLou and his mother, but his mother was dead set on them entering the Luo family.

Luo XiaoLou looked at his newly healed wrist and wondered if he could be reborn back to his old life if he slit it again.

In every sense of the word, he couldn’t stay in the Luo residence, since no one would welcome them in. Luo XiaoLou was a man who knew what was good for him and who easily got out of any dangerous situation, which was probably what Josa liked most about him.

Making up his mind, Luo XiaoLou asked again, “So, what year is it?”

“Cosmic calendar year 4019.”

Luo XiaoLou opened his mouth, feeling dry as he struggled to ask, “Is there an Earth calendar?”

A1 looked back at him strangely and said seriously, “You mean the old planet? But it’s been four thousand years since the Convention of Byron. No humans have lived on Earth since the Earth calendar year 2012.”

Luo XiaoLou was shaken. Could he really go back for his engagement?

Damn, this one step, which was obviously a small step, turned out to be a big step across time and space.

After breakfast, a worried Luo XiaoLou was brought to the living room by A1.

Luo XiaoLou stood with his head bowed down, as he had never been in such an awkward situation before, and felt very confused. His ‘mother’ was standing beside him, while the wife of Major General Luo was sitting high up on a chair.

To be honest, the mother of this body was still very beautiful looking in her thirties, with an amorous look at the tips of her eyebrows and corners of her eyes. Luo XiaoLou probably inherited his good looks from her. But her obvious good looks were no match for the graceful and magnificent formal wife sitting on the chair.

Next to Madame Luo was a handsome young man, sitting there leisurely, receiving tea from the beautiful maid, every move carrying an innate sense of nobility.

The two on the chairs didn’t even look at Luo XiaoLou and his mother. Madame waved her hand at the other man in the room who was wearing a butler’s uniform.

The butler coughed, looked at Luo XiaoLou and his mother with obvious contempt and disgust, and said seriously, “What Madame means is, Luo XiaoLou must stay, but Ms. Jin, you have two choices: one is to take the money and leave, and never appear in front of the Luo family again. The Luo family is not a place where all cats and dogs can just walk in. Show up or mention it to anyone else at your own peril. Of course, you can also choose to stay, but the two of you must listen to our Madame in anything that comes after.”

Luo XiaoLou was just about to speak, when his mother had already said excitedly, “Of course, honored madame, we have waited for a long time, we will stay. XiaoLou is very obedient, he can help the Eldest Young Master with his work. When the time comes, we’ll need the Eldest Young Master to promote him more—”

Luo XiaoLou sighed in his heart. How innocent was this mother of his, really.

Mrs. Luo was still sitting there, drinking tea, unable to see happiness or anger, while the serious young master of the Luo family finally raised his head and looked over carelessly, but his gaze was very sharp.

Under that kind of gaze, Luo XiaoLou couldn’t help but shiver and feel his legs and feet go weak, which of course could also be from the ischemia caused by last night’s attempted suicide.

His father didn’t even show his face, and obviously didn’t care about his son; Mrs. Luo had two sons of her own, and an adopted son whom she brought up to a secure position in the company. In addition, Luo XiaoLou heard from A1 that Mrs. Luo’s family was as powerful as Major General Luo’s family, both of which were military families.

Luo XiaoLou knew that a woman would never tolerate her husband cheating on her, let alone have the two most disgraceful people dangling in front of her at all times.

So now the more humble his stance, the more secure his and his mother’s safety would be.

Luo XiaoLou cleared his mind, interrupted his mother’s words at the right time, and humbly said, “Mrs. Luo, I don’t want to stay. I choose the first option, give me the money and I will leave. I will voluntarily give up what the Luo family blood in me represents, and I will never let anyone know who I am.”

Luo XiaoLou’s mother turned to look at her son incredulously, it took her a long time to recover, and she wanted to pass out immediately. This was an opportunity that she had only begged for with great difficulty. As long as she entered the Luo family’s gates, their mother and son identities would be completely different in heaven and on earth, and she was no longer willing to go back to the bottom of society to live that kind of life.

She stammered to the people above her, “Ah, madame, madame! Listen to my explanation, this jerk, he might not be clear-headed today, please make sure you take us in. We won’t talk, I just want me and XiaoLou to stay here—”

Madame Luo’s reserved and cold face still had no expression, not even the silence in her eyes had changed at all.

She ignored Luo XiaoLou’s mother and looked at Luo XiaoLou before asking, “This is the only chance you’ll ever get, and if you miss it, you’ll never be able to enter the Luo family again. Did you come here just for the money? You know, if you don’t enter our Luo family, we won’t give you as much money as you think.”

Luo XiaoLou didn’t hesitate to smear dirty water on himself, saying quickly under the eyes of his poor mother who was about to faint, “Yes, of course I would choose money. Money is the best thing. After that, I’ll take my mother away.”

Madame Luo, who was sitting up there, frowned, finally put down her cup of tea and said after a long moment of silence, “Fine, you can leave, but I have one request. You cannot leave this planet until you reach adulthood, and you have to study at the school arranged by the Luo family until you graduate from university in five years.”

Luo XiaoLou was stunned. Although he wasn’t sure what Madame Luo meant, he didn’t think it was the lady’s concern for the Luo family bloodline. Immediately, Luo XiaoLou replied good-naturedly, “Okay.”

Madame Luo swept a glance at the butler beside her, “Luo Pu, give him the things. In exchange, your mother can stay here.”

The middle-aged butler handed a card and some admission documents to Luo XiaoLou. Luo XiaoLou hesitated, he looked at his strange mother, Ms. Jin, and whispered, “…Mom, you and I can go together.” Even if he didn’t have any feelings for this cheap mother, he shouldn’t leave this original body’s mother here.

Ms. Jin looked at her son with hatred, but she couldn’t scold him in front of Madame Luo and her son. Finally, she hesitantly said, “XiaoLou, I want to stay. In fact, I want you to stay here too. You know, at your current age, there is no way for you to survive on your own. Do you still want to live like the old days?”

Luo XiaoLou sighed in his heart but didn’t say anything. He just took a step forward and hugged Ms. Jin, then put away the card and documents. Without any hesitation, he turned around and walked out.

When Luo XiaoLou reached the door, Ms. Jin suddenly ran over, grabbed Luo XiaoLou, and said with red eyes, “XiaoLou — if, if you’re having a bad time, come find me. Even if the Luo family no longer recognizes you, you’re still my son. This, what you inherited from your ancestors, is something that belongs to you. You take it well, and later, you can give it to my daughter-in-law.” Saying this, Ms. Jin untied a necklace with a green jade pendant from around her neck and put it on Luo XiaoLou’s neck.

Luo XiaoLou’s mouth twitched, daughter-in-law? His unmarried fiancée must be having a fit right now at the engagement banquet…

After there were no outsiders in the parlor, the young man turned to his mother, Mrs. Luo, and said with a smile, “Mother, don’t worry. Although he didn’t stay as planned, in terms of his qualifications, it is absolutely impossible for him to stir up much of a storm. I’ve already sent someone to check, and his genetic rank is D. He’s barely at the lowest rank to be able to receive higher education. It’s too cheap for you to arrange the highest grade academy for him, even if it’s to facilitate surveillance.”

Seeing that his elegant mother was still pale, the young man smiled slightly and continued, “Moreover, his system is also completely incompetent. He can’t even get into the Mecha Department, so he doesn’t seem to be any threat now. Of course, I’ll do as you say and pay more attention to him these next five years. If he makes any derelict moves, immediately—” The young man’s lips curled and he made a motion of killing.

Only then did the lady nod and gently say, “Remember, ShaoJun, you only have one brother named ShaoTian. As for the one just now, I absolutely won’t allow him to enter the Luo family.”

For some reason, Madame Luo didn’t even mention her adopted son, Luo ShaoFan.

“I understand, Mother.”

Luo XiaoLou was finally relieved to be sent out of the Luo residence by A1. Although he was alone now, it was the best-case scenario that no one knew him, and no one would find out that he was no longer the same person he originally was.

Luo XiaoLou then became speechless as he looked at the hundreds of stories of skyscrapers on both sides of the road and the cars speeding by in the air. It was now four thousand years after the time he had lived in, and his inner-self could be considered a living antique.

Luo XiaoLou looked down at the card and admission documents in his hand, these characters were obviously not Chinese characters. He was not sure if it was because of this body’s memory, but he knew them all. The simple ones were okay, but the complicated terminology, he didn’t understand what they meant at all…

How was he going to survive in a future world where he knew nothing?

Author has something to say:

Thank you for reading the first chapter of my new work! I hope you enjoy it!

Addis had something to say:

Thank you guys for picking up this new translation. Bear with me while this one will take a little while to do since it is 303 chapters. I am actually relatively surprised this work has never been picked up before. The first chapter was released Nov. 11th, 2011 and the last chapter was posted Aug. 29th, 2014. So this novel took the author three years to write and complete, releasing around 101 chapters every year. Although this novel is almost 10 years old, I still feel like it is way better than some of the works released in 2020.

I hope you guys like this novel as much as I do. The MC is smart, independent and adaptable. I love his inner monologues and the way he cusses people out in his mind. The ML is just a giant tsun kitty cat who wants all the love from the MC but doesn’t know how to get it. Overall, I really like the combination of these two straight bois who eventually turn into the cutest CP I could have ever asked for.

So remember to leave comments as I love to see it when everyone fangirls over the same situations as I (Sulo and Monkey too) do.

The first chapter caught my attention right away! the MC rationalized quickly that his father’s family will not treat them nicely and saw the opportunity to escape! I enjoyed his interaction with A1, he couldn’t even believe it, but the first thing he asked was what year and what his name was, so common sense! 🙂

A quite interresting first chapter. Luo XiaoLou is smart. He adapted really quick to the extremly unknown circumstances.
Being quite interested in the first meeting of MC and ML. Longer Novels with fangirling potential are the best. XD

“Judging by the style, the robot’s eye for detail wasn’t bad at all.”

– I do not believe the robot has an eye for detail if they gave him a beige outfit XD

Are we not going to talk about the fact that Xiaolou was going to marry the daughter of a mob boss? Was his own family also underground?

Kudos to Xiaolou for leaving that awful Luo household.

Am I the only one wondering if he didn’t still smell like blood after emerging from that bathtub? Like, he just straight up wore new clothes after that. What about the droplets of water on his skin? It didn’t stain his clothes? Maybe I’m just nitpicky lmaooo but this tiny detail kept bugging me. Still gonna keep reading tho ^^
