Chen Bai’s physical state was still not too good.

In the Alliance, males and females were still treated equally. But no matter what, due to the fact that females had to give birth to the next generation, their bodies were always slightly weaker than males, especially someone like Chen Bai, who had received cruel special agent training since he was young. With some extremely low temperature training as well as accumulating scars, it had caused a lot of harm to his body even after resting for some time.

From the moment he tore off the mask, through Heinz using all of his connections to reveal his identity as a spy, then to a huge storm in the public’s discussion, and finally having his life slowly calming down, a whole year had passed. During this period of time, both of them had lived in Heinz’ apartment and rarely went back to the family residence.

Regarding this excellent and capable spouse of the marshal, the opinions of the people in the Alliance had also gradually formed into two factions. One of them almost worshiped Chen Bai like a god, thinking that he had a big contribution to Berkeley’s downfall; whereas the other thought that Chen Bai was not as simple as the military announced him to be, that this Chen Bai with his bloody past was not suitable for Heinz. Especially since there was no news of him getting pregnant after a whole year, people were criticizing him all over for it.

Heinz was the Alliance’s hero in their hearts. A hero without an heir is unacceptable in everyone’s opinion.

Chen Bai was lying in bed, the burning heat of his body slowly cooling down as the tiredness after sex slowly encompassed him. He felt the thick liquid Heinz left inside his body, and an indescribable feeling of weariness and the need to vomit rose in him. Remembering that he promised to go back to the main town the next day, he felt indescribably frustrated.

He didn’t say a word, turned his body slightly and covered himself with the blanket, closing his eyes with his back to Heinz.

After half a minute, another large body covered his, and Heinz said with a voice raspy from their activities, “What is it? Not going to wash?”

Chen Bai ignored him.

“I’ll carry you there,” Heinz said as he caressed his ear, lowering his head to kiss the tips from time to time.

Almost two minutes passed like this before Chen Bai said uninterestedly, “No energy.”

After what they had done, Heinz heard hints of grumbling in the annoyed words spoken from under the blanket. He laughed softly while biting the other’s ear, “I’ll help you; just sleep.”

Without receiving a response, Heinz took it as agreement and expertly set the water temperature in the bathroom from their bed before carefully carrying the man inside.

When the warm water covered his body, Chen Bai couldn’t help but relax. The tub was huge, enough for him to continue sleeping comfortably in Heinz’ embrace.

… But this scenario rarely happened. According to their history, the chances of him and Heinz not doing anything of that nature in the bathroom was nearly zero.

After twenty minutes, Chen Bai, at his wits end, grabbed that restless hand. His long and narrow eyes opened, giving Heinz a faint look through the dense steam around them.

With that look, Heinz’ gaze turned dark, and his hard member pressed against Chen Bai’s back. One of his hands pulled the man’s thighs up so his whole body was on top of him, while the other hand traced circles on the other’s chest ceaselessly. Then, he kissed his neck with a low pant.

The temperature in the bathroom rose in an instant. Not long after that, Heinz thrust himself inside, accompanied by Chen Bai’s helpless and broken moans.

“You’re unhappy.” This time, he was much gentler than last time. That thing stirred around inside Chen Bai, searching everywhere for the spot that would make him feel good, and patiently stimulated it instead of pushing around roughly. It was gentle enough to make someone melt into a puddle.

This was the first time Chen Bai felt him… using a method that was completely pleasurable for himself.

Heinz leaned in to bite his lips, caressing his sensitive areas with the utmost concentration. Listening to Chen Bai’s stuttering moans and inability to form a complete sentence, Heinz laughed softly, “Don’t want to go back to the family residence with me?”

About to reach his climax, Chen Bai grabbed his hand tightly, a pair of red-rimmed eyes looking at him. After a long while, he said softly, “Mm… Ah!”

“No.” Heinz said as he pinched Chen Bai’s chin with one hand, his deep eyes carrying three parts amusement and seven parts seriousness. “It’s a must for us to go back. But darling, you must know, I will love only you in this entire life.”

“……”

Heinz said that as he pushed up onto his knees, carrying Chen Bai out of the water. He let the other drape over the edge of the bathtub and leaned in close to his ear, saying softly, “I’ll be at your mercy for my whole life.”

After going back and forth for a long while, Heinz leaned his head down to Chen Bai, “Is there anything else you want to say?”

“Ha…Harder.” Chen Bai narrowed his eyes, biting harshly at a finger that came towards him, then licking at it gently with the tip of his tongue.

Heinz’ gaze turned dark in an instant.

“As you wish.”

.

The next day’s journey to the family residence was unexpectedly smooth. Chen Bai was always someone who had cared a lot about his appearance, so it was no wonder his team said that he attracted people all around him, especially with that extremely good-looking face and great physique. He dressed as though he was on a date while going to meet the parents. Even Heinz started making a fuss to have his wife become uglier or wear the mask before they went out.

This kind of situation happened almost every time Chen Bai went outside and would mostly end with morning exercises or… Heinz getting pummelled.

And on this day, Chen Bai chose the latter.

His mood seemed good, and he brought a bunch of gifts to all the aunties who always liked to press him to bear a child and mock him for being unable to do so every time they saw him.

Heinz’ father had been sacrificed in the Century War, and his mother only had one son. Naturally, she supported him in everything, but it was not that simple with the whole family. If not for Heinz being the marshal, these people would all be fighting violently for the position of Head of the family.

Although his mother was very supportive of her son’s choices, she still very much minded that she didn’t have a grandchild yet. Seeing that Chen Bai still wasn’t pregnant, she kept vaguely egging on Heinz to find a surrogate female.

In actuality, with how advanced the Alliance was, it was not impossible to use an incubation cabin in place of pregnancy. But with the current state of Chen Bai’s physical body, not only was it difficult to get pregnant, he could also hardly produce ova normally. This was why his mother didn’t really like Chen Bai.

In the past, whenever he came back to the house, she would even join all the distant relatives in nagging that the both of them weren’t serious about having a child.

Most of the time, Chen Bai either ran or hid himself away and came back less and less, barely saying one or two sentences at the table.

But this time seemed to be slightly different.

After receiving the gifts, all the surprised distant relatives seemed to contemplate on whether or not to have mercy on him. In the end, nobody knew who opened their mouth first, but they all began to talk again like rushing water.

Surprisingly, this time Chen Bai didn’t remain unresponsive. When they said anything, he would respond accordingly. Though the words were said in a roundabout way, he didn’t hold back on his feelings when the meaning was understood.

“Xiao Bai ah, you shouldn’t delay on things like children. Our Alliance has so few males and many females, and his heart’s always yours. If anything, you should be more lenient.”

Chen Bai replied, “No, I can’t be lenient. I’m petty. It’s quite troublesome, but it can’t be changed.”

“Don’t say it like that. Many husband pairings in the Alliance have already accepted this. Why are you so persistent?”

“That’s right, I didn’t really want to marry Heinz at first. But he persisted and caused me grief.”

“Xiao Bai, you’re not giving us any face saying it like that.”

“Ah? How? Don’t you like the gifts? Just tell me; I’ll remember and buy better ones next time.”

After coming down from the study upstairs, Heinz pretended not to notice the gazes of his relatives and went to the side to laugh secretly.

This meal was very successful. The distant relatives couldn’t do much to Chen Bai and could only stare dryly while sitting at the table. They were people who stayed at home all day and only had tea with some of their good friends. Thus, they could only make it difficult for Chen Bai with words, knowing full well they couldn’t actually do anything else.

Yet the only person who could possibly do anything about Chen Bai had ignored them from the beginning. Heinz acted as though this was all unimportant, angering these people to the point of wanting to use their seniority to pressure him. Then they suddenly remembered, with Heinz’ position, no one in the family could ever be above him. There was no need to even think about driving a wedge between them, as Heinz didn’t even talk to them aside from basic greetings.

What’s more, they’d tried that tactic before, but those two never fell for it!

These situations happened too many times, and the aunties and distant relatives could say nothing after being rebuffed.

On the floating car ride back, Chen Bai ate some dessert pastries in a very pleasant mood, “Don’t regret it?”

Glancing at Chen Bai, who had been eating more and more lately, Heinz smiled, “Didn’t I say it last night? If you don’t remember— why don’t I say it again when we get back?”

After being glared at by the other, Heinz suddenly leaned in with an evil smile, “Actually, I can say it here as well— Let them see how loving we are; maybe we can avoid them next time…”

“Drive the car.” After pushing him away and slapping him on the head, Chen Bai continued eating his dessert in his seat, a faint smile still etched on his face. Seeing the rare completely relaxed form of Chen Bai, Heinz couldn’t help but reach out to caress his head.

He wanted him to be braver, more confident, and more headstrong. He wanted him to know that he would always be by his side, never letting him face everything alone again, and would always accompany him.

He also wanted Chen Bai to know that all the responsibilities he would carry could be split in two and have a large chunk placed upon his shoulders.

As long as both of them were together, he wouldn’t have to worry about anything and wouldn’t have to be scared of anything. No one would or could harm Chen Bai because of himself. He should walk forward with more courage than when he had been alone because Heinz himself would always walk behind him, always be there to catch him.

Using methods that were too direct would put a burden on his darling, so in the end, Heinz could only express it in this roundabout way.

But fortunately—

He understood and accepted it.

Hahahahaha… it’s good to know that the family members know their place. Heinz and Chen Bai are perfect together, and I’m glad Chen Bai finally knows he’s not alone anymore. As for children… all in it’s time, with how ‘intense’ Heinz is, I bet they won’t remain childless. 😉😊

Thank you for the chapter

Thank you author & ER for bringing this twisting, turning story. I teally enjoyed it.
I hate when families put pressure on their offspring to pop out babies. They have their own lives and honestly, don’t owe anything. There is no choice in being born & parents have a duty to do their best, it’s not a favour to be repaid!
Great novel.

I love how this story ended without Chen Bai being pregnant, but the couple still very much in love.

It REALLY bugs me when stories have relatives blaming the wife for a lack of pregnancy, especially if it’s been less than 2 years of trying to conceive. Fertility clinics wouldn’t even consider you before then! What if it’s the husband’s issue? 🙄

Thank you for the chapters.
Good thing Heinz isn’t letting go. It’ll be hard for CB to unlearn the habit of protecting Heinz.

What a great story. I started about noon yesterday and it’s now 5 a.m. but I couldn’t stop reading. CB’s appetite seems to have increased so maybe he is pregnant. Thank you for dedication and hard work to everyone of you who put your heart and soul into bringing these wonderful stories. The author, translators, and editors are all appreciated.

waah… it’s finally ended. my opinions:
-maybe because of the chapters are too few, there are still some things that left hanging, unsolved or not enough explanation. like what happen with chen bai’s crew after the “civil war”, what is the silver competition, etc.

-some inconsistencies. heinz’s eyes colour, the world’s money currency.

overall, i still enjoyed this book. i love how chen bai handled those nosy aunties😂
you guys did a great job. thanks for the translations!!❤️
