Chapter 81: Letter From the Witch
Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations
Editor: Sulo got teary eyed from the last chapter
The children drank milk, rested for a while, and washed before going to bed. Such a long day finally came to an end. Gu YuMian took a long breath, held the children and lied back in bed.
With the brain circuits of little husky and little Tangyuan, they couldn’t understand why the series of interactions just happened. The two children were very confused and looked at him. The fox saw that the dolphin and his father had made up. He was very pleased to take his paws and sit in Gu YuMian’s arms.
The little snow leopard’s long tail swept around his neck.
“Fu Lulu, her father, seemed a very silent man.” Gu YuMian said.
He couldn’t understand why the little girl didn’t feel loved. The little bow on her head had obviously broken many times. It was patched by her father. Her backpack was carefully chosen by her father, and even the pendant happened to be her favorite doll.
“Sometimes, without saying it, the other side may never know,” Gu YuMian buried his head with emotion and rubbed against the furry neck of the little snow leopard, “It’s a pity to miss it like this…”
The little snow leopard was stunned.
Miss it.
There was a stir in his heart, but he was soon shot by himself. He and Gu YuMian couldn’t miss it.
His decision was right. If he changed from ‘Xue Tuan’ to ‘Shuo Han,’ Gu YuMian wouldn’t like it. He didn’t want that.
“……”
But the two sentences of ‘without saying it, the other party may never know’ and ‘a pity to miss it like this’ lingered in his mind the whole time.
It made him very anxious.
Little Tangyuan was always able to feel other people’s emotions, and had become a fat panda prototype. He was very quiet with Gu YuMian, lying in his arms, holding Gu YuMian’s hand with his claws.
“Well, let me tell a bedtime story and go to bed.” Gu YuMian turned off the lights, and the whole bedroom was left with only the dim blue light and shadow from the deep sea outside the window, which changed with the swimming of the fish.
The little husky was biting the quilt corner, looking forward to the bedtime story. Actually, he hadn’t got the inspiration for writing for a long time, so he stopped writing. But listening to Gu YuMian’s bedtime story, he had a flash of inspiration from time to time, and a new story had a vague outline.
Before meeting Gu YuMian, the problem of exhaustion of inspiration had become more and more serious. It was at Gu YuMian’s house that he was able to write something occasionally.
Little Tangyuan and the little fox were also close, resting quietly in Gu YuMian’s arms and closing their eyes.
Only the little snow leopard seemed to be worrying about something. Squinting his grey-blue eyes, his eyes had been on Gu YuMian for a long time. Gu YuMian reached out and rubbed his eyebrows.
Gu YuMian told them the story of the Little Mermaid, but changed the ending to a good one.
“… Finally, the little mermaid and the prince are happy and live together forever.”
The deep blue light of the sea bottom, from the side window, shone on the bed a little. At the end of the sentence, the breath of the children gradually became even and long.
The little snow leopard also fell asleep, but he didn’t seem to sleep very well. He had a small face, and his claws were tightly pressed on Gu YuMian’s neck, as if he was afraid of losing him.
“TuanTuan?” Gu YuMian called him twice to make sure that little brat was sleeping soundly. He didn’t know why he was unhappy. He could only hold the little snow leopard gently, rub his chin, and then touch his back.
Then he took out the letter that Jenny, the witch, had written to him.
[Hello, Mr. Gu.
Today I am writing to tell you something you must know. It must have been a long time since I wrote this letter, when you read it, you can be sure of the authenticity of every sentence that follows:
The fate of the world is closely related to you. You are strong, much stronger than you think, so don’t be afraid.]
Strong?
From weak to strong, Gu YuMian never associated the word with himself. Including his grandparents, his evaluation of himself was gentle, calm, patient and loving. Most of them were positive, but it never included ‘strong.’
And the next thing Jenny wrote, including what she did and what happened after she did what she said in the letter, was again beyond Gu YuMian’s imagination.
“……”
At the end of the letter, the witch wrote:
[Mr. Gu, if I guess correctly, there is a lie hidden around you, a wish that has not been fulfilled for many years, and two children in need of help.
Finally, I congratulate you in advance. The lies will be exposed soon, the wish will come true soon, and the children will be saved.]
Gu YuMian, “…?”
A lie, a wish, two children in need? What was all this and what did he need to do?
‘Children in need’ may refer to the fox and the husky.
Gu YuMian had long known that the fox was the chief of the Academy of Sciences, which was not hard to guess, since he appeared the next day in the Upper Urban District after visiting the Academy of Sciences.
But after he inquired about the situation, he did not expose it for the sake of the fox.
The fox’s mental power and ability were in trouble, and the husky’s writing inspiration was in a bottleneck period. Maybe they were what the witch called ‘children in need.’ So according to this idea, the little snow leopard and little Tangyuan were the ‘lie and the wish.’
Gu YuMian’s brain was a bit muddled. In the chaos, he seemed to have caught some threads, but he didn’t hold them.
Because that was something someone wanted him to forget.
“I’ll think about it later.”
Jenny, the witch, guessed that Gu YuMian would question the fact that he was ‘strong,’ so she told Gu YuMian a verification method in the letter.
The little snow leopard must have had a nightmare. The little paw pressed Gu YuMian’s palm anxiously, and then pressed his neck and ears. After confirming his existence, he seemed a little relieved, but his whole body was still tight, curled up in Gu YuMian’s arms.
Gu YuMian then got down from the bed holding him, walked through the window, stepped on the deck viewing platform, and gently covered the wooden door behind him.
Gu YuMian gently coaxed along the back of the snow leopard, and at the same time, according to the witch Jenny——
[Close your eyes and imagine you’re sinking all the way from the sea to the deepest ocean floor…]
Before, it might have been difficult for Gu YuMian to imagine this kind of scene, but today he really went through a process of ‘sinking into the sea,’ without much effort, he completely replaced himself into the fantasy. The sound of waves and bubbles hitting the eardrum, the skin feeling the water pressure and moisture, the whole world becoming darker and darker, and then——
In a moment, everything suddenly lit up!
The milk pot and the milk bottle collided and made a ‘Ding Dong’ sound. The letter placed on the table was windless and automatic. The sea water outside the window set off a wave that spread continuously. All the people in the Undersea City stopped and looked up.
A powerful and shocking atmosphere slowly, slowly, enveloped the whole space.
It was powerful and visible to the naked eye, but it seemed so gentle and harmless, so the little fox, little TangYuan and little husky in the bed were still sleeping peacefully and contentedly.
The little snow leopard, curled up in Gu YuMian’s arms, frowned more tightly.
He had a dream.
It was not a nightmare, but it was not so good either.
“……”
Many years ago, the royal family didn’t have freedom of marriage for a long time — because the Empire was at war with the Zerg for many years, the most powerful Royal family meant the future of the Empire, and if the royal family could be combined with people with a matching degree of 100%, their strength would be further improved.
Partners that matched the royal family 100% often appeared in the aristocracy. The matching degree was 100%, which had nothing to do with whether they loved each other or not. This had led to the birth of many purposeful marriages. Shuo Han’s parents were such a pair of absolutely matched resentful couples, and he was also the victim of such a marriage.
The frequent “Atavism” in the imperial family referred to the short-term deterioration of body size and mental strength to the state of infancy when meeting the person with 100% matching degree. He used to be very resistant to marriage and love, and more resistant to the words “matching percentage”, “destined person” and “Atavism”.
A few months ago, a star ship from Capital Star landed on Takk.
For the first time in his life, he met with the phenomenon of atavism.
He became a child.
He was disgusted at the feeling of not having enough power. But what made him more anxious was that the only thing he wanted to have was not around him. And the traction of the soul, and the breath and temperature around the nose, had been pulling him to find that person, to monopolize that person, don’t miss, can’t miss——
Anxious, restless and possessive desire, which breathing a little into the blood vessels, gradually expanded, spread, and set off a gust of wind and waves!
“……”
It was hard to describe Gu YuMian’s feelings at this time.
The whole world became very clear and concrete in his eyes. He could see the ripples of the water tens of thousands of meters away, could easily roll up the waves on the sea, and could even do anything he could imagine.
Even if he closed his eyes, he could see that the little fox seemed to roll to the edge of the bed in a daze. He could easily ‘pick’ him up and put him back on the bed.
It was too novel.
Gu YuMian was like a baby who learned to walk for the first time. He was shocked, but he didn’t feel afraid. He even wanted to test more and know what he could do.
That’s when a wave of pressure far above him swept in all directions. Through the windows came the light and shadow of the sea floor, shining brightly and vaguely, and swaying at their feet.
The next second, a pair of long and cold hands clasped Gu YuMian’s hand, took him into his arms, and branded Gu YuMian’s clavicle and jaw with an irregular kiss.
The rose and the sword on his clavicle became burning hot, and the dark red light was burning too.
Gu YuMian suddenly opened his eyes and looked at the person in front of him.
He was tall, with silver hair, grey-blue eyes, a straight nose and a frown.
“……”
In the second of a flash of lightning, all the clues forced to be ignored were connected in series at this moment. Gu YuMian gasped twice, his pupils tightened and spread, as he murmured, “You are TuanTuan?”

Thank you for all the hard work!
I think this is the most brutal cliffhanger ever in this novel… Waiting for the next chapter will be pure torture. BUT… finally!!!!!!!! Shuo Han was exposed. Now he has to come clean with everything! I hope everything will be all right, please no drama of “you deceived me, get out!” type.
Thank you for the chapter!!!
*runs around screaming*
My heart, my heart!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!!
“The lies will be exposed soon, ” I thought it would take for few chapters before Shuo Han to be exposed…
I never thought it would be this soon. Within the same chapter. 😂
Thank you for the chapter
finally the awaited moment AHHH!!! oh how anxious our ‘little tuantuan” went after hearing those phrase that he finally went and uncover the ‘lie’
I’ve caught up finally but then it ended in a cliffy!! Thanks so much for sharing this novel…it’s been such an enjoyable read up to this chapter…i imagine the narration in a very relaxed pace…like a bedtime story with the occasional bright spots of culinary intermission -despite it making up 90% of what happens in every chapter – the overall feeling of this novel is tender and at times bittersweet especially when it touches on the individual circumstances of the main characters…i have nothing to say about the translation as exr has always churned out great translations and sulo’s feelings… Read more »
Oh my God……
Wow! I did not see it coming. I didn’t think Shuo Han would expose himself like that.
And I finally understood why Shuo Han had the appearance of a cub even though he was an adult.
Thanks a lot for the translation 😘
FINALLY!!!!!!!
When the letter said that the lies are gonna be exposed soon, I didn’t expect it to be that soon. It’s finally revealed! I’m really close to finishing this, ahhh
