After they were fed, the baby dragons flew away to play.

Nan HuaiLin and Lancelot went to wash the bottles, but just as they walked into the kitchen, they heard Fei Cheng shout, “Wife. Phone!”

“Who is it?” Nan HuaiLin asked.

“Agent!” Fei Cheng said.

Nan HuaiLin put down the bottle, and ran out to answer the phone, “Hello, Sister Shan.”

Shan Mingen said, “Nan, I know you took a month off, but this opportunity is so good that I think you have to take it.”

Nan HuaiLin calmly asked, “What opportunity?”

Shan Mingen said, “You know about Netflix, right?”

Nan HuaiLin felt his heart skip a beat. “Of course.”

Shan Mingen went on, “Netflix is working on a new series about a college student from China who is accused of being a terrorist, and then saves himself from prison.”

Shan Mingen was more excited than Nan HuaiLin. “Netflix is a streaming giant in the U.S., and being in their self-produced series may be your ticket to Hollywood. You should definitely grab this golden opportunity!”

Shan Mingen didn’t wait for Nan HuaiLin to answer and continued, “By the way, there is more good news. My Father has entered the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival. The news just came out today. No matter whether you win an award or not, you are going to walk the red carpet in Cannes in May. My Father will be released in June, so you have to cooperate with the promotion after coming back from Cannes. If you also win the lead role in the new Netflix series, you’ll probably be very, very busy.”

Nan HuaiLin had been so obsessed with love lately that he had completely left his work behind, but Shan Mingen’s call made his blood surge. Hollywood, Cannes… these were places that he had never dreamed that he would have the opportunity to step foot in, but now he was going to go out into the world to fight for the glory of his country.

“Nan?”

“Mn,” Nan HuaiLin returned to his senses. “What did you just say?”

“I’m booking a flight now,” Shan Mingen said. “The flight is at 9:30 tomorrow morning, I’ll personally accompany you to New York for the audition. You–“

“Sister Shan,” Nan HuaiLin interrupted her. “I want Sister Zhu to accompany me.”

“What?” Shan Mingen suspected she had heard wrong.

“Ever since I filmed Star Country, it was always Sister Zhu who has been running around with me. She handled everything very well, and I’ll feel more at ease going with her.”

“But…but she’s just an assistant–“

“Not anymore,” Nan HuaiLin interrupted her again. “You wouldn’t know yet, but the company is going to set up a personal studio for me, and I am going to let Sister Zhu be my manager.”

Shan Mingen didn’t say anything.

Nan HuaiLin then went on to say, “So please, Sister Shan, hand over the details of Netflix to Sister Zhu, and I thank Sister Shan for taking care of me this time.”

Nan HuaiLin was just making a casual remark as a courtesy.

In fact, from the time she became his manager until now, Shan Mingen had done nothing for him. She had been promoting Chen Jing Tian while he was still obscure. During the Star Country casting incident, where Chen Jing Tian’s fans furiously painted him black, Shan Mingen stood by and did nothing. Now that he had a great opportunity, she finally wanted to take up the responsibilities of manager, but he no longer needed her.

After he hung up the phone, Nan HuaiLin hugged Fei Cheng, gave him one ‘muah’ to the left, one ‘muah’ to the right and said excitedly, “Honey, I’m going to break out of Asia!”

Fei Cheng smiled and asked, “What do you mean?”

Nan HuaiLin told him briefly about his conversation on the phone. Then Fei Cheng held his face and kissed it. “My wife is great.”

Lancelot came out from the kitchen. “Can you be any meatier?”

Fei Cheng ignored him, looked at Nan HuaiLin and said, “But in an American drama, the lines must be in English. Can you do it?”

Nan HuaiLin was stunned. “I forgot about that. Actually my English is okay. I have no problem with everyday conversation. I should be good enough to play a Chinese student, but if the other party requires a particularly pure spoken language, it might be–“

Lancelot said, “Don’t worry. Your husband speaks English. Let him teach you.”

Fei Cheng bared his teeth. “Can you not interrupt? What’s your business if we’re talking?”

Lancelot shrugged and walked out. “You guys go ahead.”

“Mr. Fei,” Nan HuaiLin shook his arm. “You’ll teach me, right?”

Fei Cheng smiled. “I charge a lot of money.”

“But I’m poor,” Nan HuaiLin said in a special whisper, as he leaned into his ear. “Can I pay in bed?”

Fei Cheng was aroused by his words, nibbled his ear and said, “Yes, that’s fine.”

After the two of them had been getting along for a while, Man Tianzhu’s phone call came.

Nan HuaiLin had a feeling she was going to scream, so he held the phone far away as soon as he got through.

Fei Cheng was sitting on the sofa playing with his cell phone. Nan HuaiLin was walking around next to him talking on the phone, Fei Cheng was dazzled by him, and simply grabbed him to put him on his lap and hold him.

The phone call lasted for ten minutes before he hung up. Nan HuaiLin put the phone down, and turned his head to look at his husband’s face, only to see he wasn’t very happy.

“What’s wrong?” Nan HuaiLin held his face, and asked, “Weren’t you happy just now?”

Fei Cheng said, “When you get busy, we’ll have to be separated. So I’m not happy.”

When he heard him say that, Nan HuaiLin suddenly began to feel reluctant to leave.

Now there was not only Fei Cheng, but also the four little dragon babies. Nan HuaiLin wanted to be with them all the time, but he couldn’t give up such a heavenly opportunity for the sake of his husband and children. Just give up the dream he had been working so hard for.

Fei Cheng saw what he was thinking, and said with a smile, “I’m just complaining. Don’t take it to heart. I said I would always let you do what you like, and Husband is true to his word. When you go out to film, I will work seriously, take good care of our sons, and I will visit you as soon as I can. I can’t let you cut off the nourishment of the dragon essence. We agreed to live and die together.”

Nan HuaiLin was moved to the point of tears. He wrapped his arms around Fei Cheng’s neck, and his voice was hoarse, “Husband, you are so kind.”

Fei Cheng smiled and said, “Now you are calling me husband more and more smoothly.”

Nan HuaiLin also smiled and said, “Because the seal has been stamped, and the license has been issued.”

Fei Cheng said, “Come here. Let your husband give you a kiss.”

“You’re not done yet?” Lancelot’s voice came through the door.

Nan HuaiLin hurriedly stood up from Fei Cheng’s arms, and said in embarrassment, “It’s over. It’s over.”

Lancelot said, “Dragon Two, call Zheng’s brother and ask him if he’s coming back for dinner.”

Fei Cheng called his brother, hung up after a few words, and replied, “He said he’s busy with something and won’t be coming back for a few days.”

Lancelot said, “Oh. I’m going to start cooking dinner, what do you want to eat?”

Nan HuaiLin said, “I’ll do it with you.”

When he entered the kitchen, Nan HuaiLin realized that his cooking skills were only worth a handful in front of Lancelot.

The blue shark was running a knife like a flying machine as he said, “There was a time when I was particularly decadent. In order to find something for myself to do, I went crazy getting licenses: chef’s license, massage therapist license, excavator driver’s license, tour guide license …. A breath of examination would prove that I must have forty or fifty certificates. But finally the decadence period is over.”

Nan HuaiLin could probably guess why he was depressed, but he didn’t ask. Just smiled and said, “You’re great.”

With Lancelot as the chef, the dinner was very good and full of flavor.

But the little dragons didn’t have such treats, they could only eat water-boiled, white, minced meat. Half-cooked, no condiments, and only a little salt.

The table was very long. Nan HuaiLin, Fei Cheng and Lancelot were at one end, the baby dragons were at the other and the two sides formed a stark contrast, Nan HuaiLin was still a little uneasy, but when he saw they were eating quite happily, he was also relieved.

Each baby dragon had a dinner plate with the right amount of minced meat, and they stood at the edge, hung their little heads and ate quietly, without a sound.

Dragon One ate faster, then went to grab Dragon Two’s meat to eat. Dragon Two wouldn’t let him, so Dragon One waved his wings, and slapped Dragon Two to the ground.

Nan HuaiLin rushed over to pick up Dragon Two, and saw that Dragon Two was dripping tears of aggression. The tiny teardrops fell on Nan HuaiLin’s hand, and instantly condensed into tiny dragon pearls.

“It’s crying…” Nan HuaiLin looked at Fei Cheng helplessly. “How, how can I coax it?”

“It’s okay,” Fei Cheng said, “Let it cry a little longer. The little dragon’s dragon pearls are purer and more valuable. One can be sold for at least 20 million.”

Nan HuaiLin looked down and counted. He already had five dragon pearls in his hand.

So, he is now holding one hundred million…Geez.

Dragon Two blinked away the last two tears, then fluttered his wings and flew to the table. Then  he fought with Dragon One. You slapped my wings, I’ll slap your wings. You used the dragon horn on me, I’ll use the dragon horn on you. The fight was very vigorous.

Fei Cheng was watching with joy, and Nan HuaiLin thought, This is really your father.

“Hey,” he said worriedly, as he held $140 million worth of dragon pearls. “Hurry up and pull them apart a bit. Don’t let them get hurt again.”

“Where are they so delicate?” Fei Cheng said with a smile. “I fought with sharks when I was a child. Don’t worry. It’s okay. Come and eat.”

Lancelot said, “You’re still talking. If it wasn’t for brother Zheng saving you, you would have been digested by those sharks.”

“Shut up,” said Fei Cheng. “You’re the only one who talks too much.”

Dragon One and Dragon Two fought for half a day without a winner, so they finally reached a settlement, as they shared the rest of the minced meat.

Dragon Three and Dragon Four had been very honest. They obediently ate their own share. They didn’t pick up things or try to solicit things.

After everyone had eaten, it was time for the young dragons to go to bed.

Fei Cheng pulled Nan HuaiLin upstairs, and the little dragons consciously flew behind.

“Baby dragons have a long, and regular sleep schedule,” Fei Cheng said. “They go to bed at 7 p.m. and wake up at 7 a.m., so they get a full 12 hours of sleep.”

The little dragons’ room was large, but very empty. There was basically no furniture because they were afraid of them being naughty, and getting themselves hurt.

Five bird’s nest-type hammocks hung from the ceiling and lined up against the wall. They were very soft and comfortable.

The little dragons flew into their nests, put away their wings, crept down and found the most comfortable position to rest while their tails wagged.

Nan HuaiLin couldn’t help but touch them one by one. He felt his paternal nature being stimulated by them little by little, and felt more and more, the real sense of being a parent.

“They don’t wet the bed, do they?” Nan HuaiLin asked with a smile.

“Whoever wets the bed will be spanked,” Fei Cheng said.

“You’re a cruel father,” Nan HuaiLin commented.

“Baby,” Fei Cheng said, as he wrapped his arms around his waist from behind. “Let’s go to bed too.”

“So early?” Nan HuaiLin was surprised.

“You’re going abroad tomorrow,” Fei Cheng rested his chin on his shoulder. “A moment of spring is worth a thousand dollars. Let’s not waste it.”

Nan HuaiLin turned back to look at him. “But your brother said not to do intense exercise.”

Fei Cheng lowered his head and kissed him. “Then I’ll go deeper, and deeper, and move gently, okay?”

Nan HuaiLin was silent for a while before he answered “yes” in an inaudible voice.

Poor Lancelot, a third wheel who keeps getting dog food shoved in his face by FC and NHL. 🤣

Excited that NHL got rid of his useless manager and has his own people working for him. And so funny when NHL anticipated Man TianZhu’s reaction to the Netflix news!

I’m happy to see that FC doesn’t seem like a jealous possessive dad. Hopefully he stays that way
