Since they didn’t have any big cases, the Special Cases Unit was very bored: Zzz, zzz…

Wen JingHan walked out of the chief of police’s office and opened the door to see everyone strewn across the room, asleep. …It was only ten in the morning right now!

Clang! Clang! Clang! Zheng Fei was startled awake, and he wiped away his saliva as he looked around blankly. “What happened? Is it thundering?!”

Lin Bai rolled off of the chair he was sitting in and covered his heart in shock. Everyone else also woke up and looked around for the source of the sound.

Wen JingHan was raising the commemorative, first-place trophy they had received from the city awards ceremony last year for solving a big case, and using his other hand to bang on it with a steel spoon.

“Is it time for lunch?” Guan Jin looked at his watch with bleary eyes. “It’s a little too early for that, it’s only ten.”

“Hmph, so you’re aware that it’s ten. You guys don’t seem to be very aware of it, based on the way you were sleeping.” Wen JingHan swept a gaze around the room.

Everyone shivered and was completely awake now.

“Seeing as our team has been slacking off lately, everyone needs to adjust their mental state. I now propose a new team training plan…”

“Team training? Is that doing field work and getting close to the masses like they show on the news?” Guan Jin asked Lin Bai in an undertone.

Lin Bai wasn’t sure if he should laugh or cry. “How could that be?! You’ve been poisoned a little too much by the news.”

“…so let’s begin with target practice,” finished Wen JingHan.

When Guan Jin heard this, his gaze lit up and then dimmed.

“Target——” Lin Bai rolled his eyes and pretended to faint on the table.

“What’s that saying again, there’s no time like the present? Let’s start this afternoon.” Wen JingHan hammered the trophy one last time to conclude.

*****

Guan Jin was holding a police pistol, and it was a little hard to suppress his emotions. Although it wasn’t a sniper rifle, it was the first time he had touched a gun since getting reborn, and his blood surged at once with passion for guns. At the same time, another conflicting feeling also rose; he had died because of a gun before, so he seemed to also inexplicably feel fear and hatred towards guns.

“Ha, look at yourself, although you got amnesia, your habit of trembling upon touching a gun hasn’t changed,” gloated Lin Bai. “As long as you’re here, I’ll never be last place.”

Only now did Guan Jin notice his abnormal behavior, and he inhaled slowly, suppressing his various emotions and stopping his shaking hands. Right now, the biggest question was whether he would miss on purpose or not.

Wen JingHan was the first to put on safety goggles, and he raised his pistol in his left hand. “Let’s start, we’ll shoot some rounds.”

Bang! Bang! Bang! Gunshots sounded one after another.

After the dust settled, the system began to automatically announce everyone’s score.

“Ten points 1.” This was Wen JingHan, who had never missed a shot thus far.

“Ten points.” This was Zheng Fei, who was no worse than Wen JingHan.

“Eight points.” This was Chen QiaoYu, who was a little rusty from not having done target practice in a while.

“Nine points.” This was Gu Xiang, whose marksmanship had always been steady.

“Seven points.” This was Ding Ding, who wasn’t too good at using guns.

“Five points.” This was Lin Bai, who rarely got over seven points.

“Ten points.” This was Guan Jin, who had always trembled uncontrollably when picking up a gun and was known for missing…

Everyone else’s heads turned towards the left, looking at Guan Jin with wide eyes.

Guan Jin adjusted his goggles and calmly lowered his gun.

“This must be a fluke, there was a zero point oh oh one probability of this happening!” Lin Bai clapped once in realization.

Everyone nodded in agreement, but only Wen JingHan turned his head back, “Round two, get ready.”

There was another round of gunshots.

The system continued to report the scores.

“Ten points.” Wen JingHan.

“Six points.” Lin Bai.

“Ten points.” Guan Jin.

Everyone was silent, and they looked towards the right.

“Continue.”

“Ten points.” Wen JingHan.

“Ten points.” Guan Jin.

“Ten points.” “Ten points.” “Ten points.” “Ten points.” …

Everyone else was dumbfounded as they looked at Wen JingHan and Guan Jin taking turns to shoot, all of them bullseyes.

“Wow! Guan Jin! Were you abducted by aliens, who experimented on you? And now you’re no longer Guan Jin, there’s a Martian inside of you!” Lin Bai exclaimed in disbelief.

Guan Jin chuckled inwardly. There’s no Martian, but there indeed is an earthling.

“It looks like Guan Jin’s amnesia was a blessing in disguise.” Wen JingHan lowered his gun. “However, I recall that you seemed to use your right hand to hold the gun before, since you’re not left-handed.”

Guan Jin licked his dry lips. “I suddenly discovered that it seems to feel more stable in my left hand.”

“That’s good then. Let’s move on to moving targets.” Wen JingHan seemed to be even more interested.

“Did the boss forget that today is our team training, not a shooting contest?” Ding Ding whispered to Zheng Fei.

“Who cares, let’s just watch the show.” Zheng Fei happily joined the crowd of onlookers.

“I’ll go buy some cola!” Chen QiaoYu dragged Lin Bai with her and rushed outside.

“Do you also want to buy popcorn?” suggested Gu Xiang.

“Good idea!” called Chen QiaoYu as she disappeared through the door.

“How phenomenal, is this an American movie?”

“Guan Jin, did you participate in the special forces before? You’re so accurate, even with those moving targets.”

“You two are so brutal, headshots one after the other!”

“Bleh, this cola tastes so weird.”

“How’s it weird? I bought it from that authentic store near the entrance.”

“…Stop interrupting.”

“Guan Jin, I support you! You’re my new idol!”

“Leader Wen, you’re still my favorite!”

A long time passed.

“Wowww! These two aren’t from this planet. We have to call the government at once so they can take away these aliens and dissect them.”

Wen JingHan and Guan Jin, who were panting a little, looked at each other for a long time, separated by eight target positions.

“Is this the mythical, ultimate level of understanding?”

“Did they fall in love at first sight…”

“Wahhh, it’s so perfect…”

The onlooking police officers’ glass hearts shattered.

“Guan Jin, no one’s marksmanship can become so superb overnight, even if they got amnesia.” Wen JingHan looked away slightly, waiting for his response.

Guan Jin looked down at his toes before looking back up. “Perhaps my marksmanship has always been very good, or I practiced it in secret, and since I get nervous in front of others, I can never shoot well in front of you guys. I think that that’s the only possibility.”

“I see, yes, it’s quite reasonable. You forgot your fears after losing your memory, so you can execute at your original skill level.” Wen JingHan seemed to suddenly understand, and he nodded repeatedly.

“You don’t believe me at all,” Guan Jin said in certainty.

Wen JingHan shrugged. “Is that important? The important thing is that I have another member who’s good at analyzing and fighting. Oh, the possibilities!”

“…Are you going to rebel?”

“Maybe.”

“Then don’t count me in. All antagonists who stand opposite to the majority will eventually be drowned by the torrent of the people.”

“…Watch less TV in the future. Scientific research shows that watching too much TV will rot the brain.”

“…”

“Right, we’ve already achieved today’s training goal, but as for the people watching…” Wen JingHan turned around.

The others quickly threw away the cola and other things they were holding and stood at attention.

“Did you guys see that?”

“Yes, we saw…”

“Good. Starting from tomorrow, follow that standard. Train everyday until you reach the goal! Guan Jin and I will come——to observe.”

“Ahh!” they wailed.

*****

Tomorrow arrived soon, one after another.

“Lin Bai, did you not eat breakfast? Raise your hand higher, you’ll only be able to turn the other person into an eunuch 2 like this, but you won’t kill them,” said Guan Jin, sucking on a lollipop.

Lin Bai felt like crying as he raised his sore arm. I’m a policeman that does technical work, so why would I have to kill someone?

“Ding Ding! Pay attention in all directions, criminals may appear at any time, so your field of vision needs to be wider. Don’t just stare at the target!” said Wen JingHan as he took a sip of his coffee.

My eyeballs are practically going to fly out of their sockets, how can I turn them more! Ding Ding complained internally.

“Today’s cola wasn’t bought from that authentic store in the front, right?” Guan Jin looked at the bottle of cola.

“How can I be that tacky, I bought it from the supermarket,” said Wen JingHan.

Tacky Chen QiaoYu missed the shot. Are you mistaken?! That’s not called being tasteful, it’s called being too extra!

“Right, why would you call a small store authentic?”

“Because it’s name is ‘Authentic’.”

“…How unique.”

The owner of the Authentic Store sneezed.

Was Wen Jing Han not just do the training to refresh his members skills, but also to test Guang Jin? He suspects him already, hasn’t he? I like how Guang Jin didn’t hide his skill.

There have been cases of people getting severe head trauma and waking up with wildly different personalities and skills. One guy woke up from a coma and was suddenly able to play the piano at an insanely high level but had never touched one before besides to pluck at a few keys. But I wonder how the original Guan Jin got injured?

Hilarious lol I love the fact that they are spending time together as a team! I can understand GY’s point of view because he was killed by a gun, but he was able to overcome that fear and do his thing!

Aha! Silly teammates! That’s what you get for slacking off and eating melon seeds instead of practicing with the sharpshooters. Love that horrible pun about the store being named ‘Authentic’ 🙂 🙂
