When the Baron, covered in cold sweat, saw Ye Shao stepping out from behind Long Yuan, his eyes lit up for a moment, but he soon restrained himself.
When Ye Shao caught the Baron looking at him, he gave him a cold look. He could clearly hear the Baron’s flattering tone towards Long Yuan. However, because he saw the proof that Long Yuan was an aristocrat on the first day, though he only thought that Long Yuan was a not so important descendant of the aristocracy, he did not think too much about it. In his mind, he could only think of how to report the situation on Alpha.
It had been a while since he had left Alpha and got here, he wasn’t sure of the situation back at the planet.
Through the huge garden of the baron’s mansion, they entered a brightly lit white building. The Baron took Ye Shao and Long Yuan up the antique spiral wooden stairs on the right side of the building until they reached the third floor, where they came to a grand glowing metallic door.
The Baron stepped towards the door and immediately a small blue light projected from the door. It scanned the Baron’s whole body. Then a hanging screen appeared in the air. The Baron immediately lifted his hand, and the hanging screen dropped to the height of his hand with his movement. The Baron swiftly typed in the passcode with his fingers, and finally pressed his thumb to the scanner.
A second later, the double doors slowly opened.
Inside was a very spacious room, in the middle of the room was a round platform built about two meters in diameter and next to the direction of the door was a console. The Baron went straight to the console and turned on the power. There was a golden glow on the platform, and a little golden haired young boy in a suit slowly appeared.
“Welcome to cm2.” He floated quietly in mid air. “Now connecting to the First Intelligence Agency of the Empire. The connection speed is 1 light year per second. The connection speed is good. Holographic imaging is about to take place below.” The figure of the little boy in the suit swayed for a few times and then disappeared slowly.
In the middle of the platform, a man in a black uniform appeared. He stood there straight and upright, with no expression on his face. His dark blue eyes looked at Ye Shao and party seriously.
“Baron Coster, you’re now connected to the First Intelligence Agency. Do you have anything you would like to report?”
Ye Shao didn’t wait for the Baron to speak. He stepped forward and looked straight at the man who had a serious sculpture-like face. “It’s me who needs to report to the Imperial Intelligence Agency. I’m a First-Class soldier trained on Alpha, Ye Shao,” Ye Shao took out his identification to let him confirm, “Alpha is now invaded by an unknown octopus-like alien. I don’t know the current situation there, but before I left Alpha, this alien had already proliferated all over Alpha. The First-Class soldier battalion, which was training on Alpha, has all scattered. There are more than 200 soldiers missing. I hope the Empire can send reinforcements to Alpha at once.”
Ye Shao seemed to have recalled something. From the front of the pendant on his chest, he made a swiping motion and a transparent glass bottle the width of three fingers appeared in his hand. In the glass bottle, a piece of gray meat was still wriggling and hitting the wall of the glass bottle. “This is a small part of the alien body that went on rampage on Alpha.”
The man held out his hand. “Please give it to me. I will let the research department study and analyze it as quickly as possible. If what you say is true, the Empire will deploy troops to Alpha as quickly as possible.”
Ye Shao stepped forward and put the glass bottle into the man’s hand. Although it was impossible for the glass bottle to reach the Empire so directly, this action indicated that transmission was needed. It would break down into particles of information signals that would be reintegrated once it reached the Imperial Intelligence Agency’s transmission outlet.
“Okay, thank you for the information. I’ll get in touch with you as soon as I get the order.” The man stepped back, the hologram disappeared immediately, and the little boy in the suit reappeared.
“Communication has been suspended. Do you require any other services?”
“No, thank you.”
“I’ll retreat then,” the little boy saluted the party and as he did, he slowly disappeared, and the golden light that had been lingering on the platform also slowly disappeared.
Baron Coster finally spoke, “I have two rooms ready. Please follow me.”
Ye Shao simply picked one of them, opened the door and walked in.
Long Yuan naturally chose the room next to Ye Shao. Baron Coster wanted to follow Long Yuan into the room in hopes to show his loyalty. It would be better if he could make Long Yuan forget what he had done not long ago.
It was not fun to be on the wrong side of this man’s door. He was just a mere Baron and this title was only by inheritance. If this man was unhappy, it won’t take more than a few minutes for him to lose his title. If he knew it was this man standing outside his gates, he wouldn’t have the guts to do what he did. The Baron was about to weep, and he wanted to slap himself hard.
Before entering the room, Long Yuan turned his head and looked at Baron Coster. There was no emotion in his dark pupils, but a faint flash of blue appeared in them. “Baron Coster, what else can I do for you?”
“N-Nothing.” Baron Coster could not help but stutter.
“Then I’ll be heading in.” Long Yuan walked into the room and slammed the door in front of Baron Coster. The trembling doors were just touching Baron Coster’s nose.
Baron Coster opened his mouth and touched his nose. The more he thought about it, the more furious he became. He looked at the guard who was standing behind him silently and gave him a slap in the face. “Fool! Why didn’t you come earl…”
Just then, the door opened again. Long Yuan looked at Baron Coster who was standing there, his hands still raised midair. The latter turned around stiffly. His red lips seemed to be slightly lifted into a smile with slight mockery.
Baron Coster was dumbfounded.
Long Yuan said, “I forgot one thing. Please give me back my ring.”
Baron Coster, with a pale face and sweaty palms, handed the ring back to Long Yuan. The door closed again in front of Baron Coster. He looked at the closed doors for a long time, and finally left bitterly.
Long Yuan leaned against the wall. After confirming that the footsteps of Baron Coster and another man had gone, he straightened up, went to the big bed in the room and sat down. He took out a round metal sphere that was constantly vibrating and threw it to the ground.
The metal sphere floated as soon as it neared the floor, then bloomed in the middle and slowly descended to the ground.
“Your Highness, I heard from the Intelligence Agency that a catastrophe has broken out on Alpha, next to the planet you’re at.”
The old housekeeper, Reed’s hologram appeared right before Long Yuan. “You’re not thinking of going to Alpha, are you? I mean, you didn’t even bring your mecha.” A golden ball kept bouncing up and down by the old housekeeper’s feet, and then it expanded before turning into a curly gold haired…chihuahua.
It took a few steps forward, and pounced it’s two front legs against Long Yuan’s calves. “Hey, how can you leave me alone and run out to play? It’s like having a dog at home and not walking it every day!”
Long Yuan eyed the small dog on his lap silently, “Hasn’t the Technology Department reprogrammed its setting back to normal yet?”
The old housekeeper immediately shifted the topic, “His Majesty is very worried about your situation there. He hopes you can come back as soon as possible.”
“I’ve heard. You shouldn’t neglect me. Besides me, who else will give you the most powerful support when you need it and a shoulder when you’re about to cry? Aren’t you moved by the noble quality of my sacrifice for you? You should take me wherever you go, or who will offer you his strong little shoulders?” It said while shaking its small triangular ears, looking proud.
Long Yuan looked at old housekeeper Reed with bored eyes.
The old housekeeper suppressed a grin, and kept a serious expression on his face, “Xuan Feng is already the top out of the imperial super intelligent mechas, and the Technology Department dare not change its program. Although its character is somewhat strange, its ability is proven to all of us. Who knows if there won’t be any bad consequences after changing Xuan Feng’s program? As soon as the Head of the Technology Department heard that your highness wanted to reprogram its setting, he would hug my leg and cry for help, hoping that his highness would not destroy the mecha that he had developed so painstakingly.”
Long Yuan felt a headache come and pressed two fingers on his forehead. “Okay then, what else do you need?”
“Her Majesty said that if you ever run away again from a public banquet in the future, she will tie you to the front of the banquet. And an important message from Her Majesty: She has arranged a marriage for you when you were a child – yes, your highness, you don’t have to show such a doubtful expression. You know, Her Highness has always been very worried about your marriage. The daughter of the Duke of Feist, arrived at the palace yesterday, Her Majesty asked me to call you back early—”
“… tell Mother, I will go back after solving the issue on Alpha. After all, such grave matters have happened in the Empire. As the Crown Prince of the Empire, plus I am just right by planet Alpha, I can’t just sit around and ignore it.”
“Alright then your highness, do you want me to allow Xuan Feng to go over to you?”
Long Yuan lowered his gaze, the golden chihuahua looked at him with twinkling eyes, and his tail wagged happily behind him.
“…Fine, let it come.”
“I knew you couldn’t leave me! Don’t worry, I will protect you properly. What alien? I’ll beat it up into a ball of wool!” The chihuahua lifted its chin and patted its little chest with one of his forepaws. “Do you know what a ball of wool is?”
Long Yuan could feel the veins on his forehead pulse. Although he knew that it was impossible to toss a projected image away, he still swung his leg, and then resolutely went to the side of the projector and turned it off.
Suddenly, the noisy room became quiet.
