Chapter 5: First World (5)

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Sulo

Since he became Bai Xu’s brother, Bai Duan changed the habit of always staying alone and quickly became the other side’s small tail. The kindergarten teachers were amazed. Even true brothers were not so intimate. The other children in the kindergarten rejected the strange boy who appeared and robbed them of their little prince but soon changed their attitude because they found that if they wanted to play with Bai Duan, they had to first talk to Bai Duan’s brother, Bai Xu.

Unfortunately, Bai Xu was even more exclusive than Bai Duan. Bai Duan occasionally joined their games when he was bored or played with them, but his brother ate vinegar. If Bai Duan was hugged, Bai Xu would glare at them coldly. The daring child would leave immediately, very timidly. For these children to be glared at directly after embracing him, Bai Xu left a strong psychological shadow, and no one approached him for several days in a row.

The kindergarten teachers had no way to deal with this boy who was more isolated and indifferent than Bai Duan. Bai Duan was soft and cute. Even if he was unwilling, other children were willing to play with him. But Bai Xu was quite different. If they forced him to play games, all the other children except Bai Duan would be scared away.

Though sympathetic to Bai Xu’s previous experience, the kindergarten teachers said they could do nothing but hope that he could gradually forget his tragic past and progressively become more cheerful around the little angelic Bai Duan.

In this way, Bai Duan and Bai Xu, hand in hand, went from kindergarten all the way to elementary school and continued their ‘brotherhood’ without issues.

In the meantime, they had never done the things the Bai couple were worried about. They never fought, quarreled, or even had the inevitable frictional disputes that were normal within families. Bai Xu devoted all his energy taking care of his brother, and Bai Duan was also obedient to his brother, more compliant than in front of his parents. The Bai’s parents had a sense of sadness that their son had been kidnapped and was being raised by others.

Under Bai Xu’s meticulous care, Bai Duan was more exquisite and beautiful, and Bai Xu also thrived rapidly after nourishing his body and eating healthier. Although he was one year older than Bai Duan, he was thin and looked a little younger than Bai Duan. When he entered primary school, his height suddenly flew up. After a leap, he finally got an older brother’s appearance.

Primary school life was not as relaxed as kindergarten, they had homework and exams, but also gradually felt the pressure of schoolwork.

Bai Duan did not like learning, he clearly looked quiet and intelligent, but it was difficult for him to calm down to obediently read books and test questions were always rough. His grades hovered in the middle of his class.

But Bai Xu was quite different from him. Although he was always pulled away by Bai Duan, Bai Xu scored full marks in every quiz and quickly became the top student in the eyes of teachers and his classmates. He was always mentioned and praised as an example. Besides, his personality was no longer as gloomy and indifferent as it was when he was a child. Although he was still somewhat indifferent, he had a better temperament and appearance. Compared to Bai Duan, he was more admired by the students.

For their younger son, who did not like learning, the Bai couple was anxious. They asked Bai Xu to teach his younger brother carefully for his exams. Unfortunately, the two children promised well in front of them, but they still played and ate when they turned around. The wrong topic continued to be incorrect.

Bai Duan really did not like learning; looking at a textbook was uncomfortable as if in the last lifetime he had learned enough and had a psychological shadow. Bai Xu always indulged his younger brother. He seemed to think that his younger brother should have fun and enjoy his childhood. It was not important what he learned.

“Anyway, my brother has me!” Faced with the Bai parents’ inquiries, Bai Xu’s expression was serious and sincere.

“What brother has you! Can you support your brother for life?!” Mama Bai laughed and scolded Bai Xu by tapping on his forehead.

“Of course.” Bai Xu was indifferent to the blame of Mama Bai, and his tone was absolute, “I will keep him for life!”

For Bai Xu’s promise, Papa Bai and Mama Bai just laughed at the children’s straightforward language, and when they recalled it more than ten years later, they regretted that it was too late.

In this way, under the protection of his brother, Bai Duan mixed in with the local primary school graduates, and then, according to the school district division, was promoted to the same junior high school. (1)

When Bai Duan and Bai Xu went to elementary school, they were in the same class, even at the same desk. They were inseparable from each other all day long. They naturally did not want to be assigned to different classes after entering middle school.

Although Papa Bai felt that the two brothers were always sticking together, which was not conducive to their interpersonal communication and personality improvement, he still could not stand the coquettish Bai Duan and Bai Xu’s help. He invited the headmaster of the junior middle school to have a meal, walked them through the back door, and stuffed the two brothers into the same class.

When he got the good news, Bai Duan was so happy that he felt a big stone fell to the ground in his heart. He could not imagine the day when there was no brother in the classroom.

“So happy?” Bai Xu sat beside the bed and watched his brother rolling around in bed with smiling eyes.

“Un, happy!” Bai Duan sat up, with soft hair stretched out, looking more childish and lovely. He was clearly already a teenager, but still looking at him made the heart sweet. Bai Xu wished he could hold him in his hands and pamper him.

As the brothers grew up, they were supposed to sleep in separate rooms, but Bai Duan and Bai Xu were reluctant to accept the arrangement. They talked about it together several times, and even if they were separated, they would quietly gather together in the middle of the night. Papa Bai and Mama Bai tried several times without success, and eventually had to let them do what they wanted and be lazy.

After winning the victory of ‘cohabitation,’ Bai Xu, on the grounds of his long body and Bai Duan, argued that the small original children’s bed was uncomfortable to sleep on. So after claiming the winner’s prize for participating in a math competition, he bought a large double bed, which was placed in the middle of their bedroom.

When Papa Bai and Mama Bai found the big bed in their home, they were already on the boat, and they also believed Bai Xu’s ‘a big bed is more comfortable’ statement, but did not think much about it, so that the two brothers smoothly ‘shared a bed.’

Since sleeping together, Bai Xu and Bai Duan had more and more body movements.

Every morning, Bai Xu woke up in Bai Duan’s embrace and felt particularly comfortable and satisfied, as if this was the right sleeping position, even their quality of sleep improved a lot. Bai Xu used this as a way to harvest his brother’s sleepy-eyed morning kiss, and his whole day’s mood was cheerful and happy.

Happy to be beside Bai Xu, Bai Duan adjusted to a comfortable posture, grabbed the other’s fingers to play with them intimately and was pleased to see their fingers locked together. “If I do not see brother, my heart feels empty. It seems like something is missing.”

Bai Xu lowered his head and kissed Bai Duan’s forehead with restraint. He seemed to want to say something, and there was a little struggle in his eyes. However, when he looked at Bai Duan depending on their intimacy with no gloom in sight, he was somewhat impatient. He raised his hand and wrapped Bai Duan in his arms. “Un, me too. Once I can’t see the small Duan, I feel panicked. Nevertheless, I was afraid that little Duan would run away with others while I was not paying attention to him.”

“How can I run with others?!” Bai Duan glared at Bai Xu discontentedly.

“Really? Then tomorrow, when the little girl who sent you love letters today finds you to get her answer, you should be serious and turn her down!” Bai Xu raised his eyebrows and felt very depressed. Today’s children were so precocious that when they go to elementary school, they would already know how to get a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Bai Duan twisted his eyes slyly. “Many girls in school like me, but she’s the first one to summon up the courage to confess. That’s too harsh…but it’s not good?”

He would not tell Bai Xu that he had been ‘serious and had no room for maneuver’ for the first time.

“Hm? What’s wrong? Why? You want to take this opportunity to lead the snake out of the hole, and gain a few more confessors?” Bai Xu gave a cold hum.

God knows, he thought he was on guard, but he didn’t think there were still fish that leaked out!

“No way. Who made my brother so handsome?” Bai Duan stalled.

“Handsome?” Bai Xu lifted Bai Duan’s head and printed a kiss on the tip of his nose. He looked deeply into the clean and penetrating eyes of Bai Duan and filled them with his own reflection. “My brother is obviously the beautiful and lovely one.”

Bai Duan’s heart was beating wildly from Bai Xu’s action, and his cheeks flushed instantly. He pushed Bai Xu away, pretending to be angry and helpless, and stretched out his hand to scratch the other’s itch. “Who’s beautiful and lovely? I am handsome and attractive! Don’t say I’m cute! That’s how girls are described!”

With a teasing smile, Bai Xu quickly avoided Bai Duan’s attack with his hands and eyes, and then turned over and pressed him under his body to treat him in the same way.

As soon as Mama Bai came over, she heard the laughter of the brothers coming from the door. She pushed open the door and knocked against the door frame. “Okay, stop making noise, get out of bed, and eat quickly!”

“Okay, Mom.” Bai Xu turned his head and looked at Mama Bai with a smile in his eyes.

“Un, Mom!” Bai Duan breathlessly drilled out from under Bai Xu. His eyes were moist, his cheeks were red, and he was panting. When he climbed out of bed, he kicked Bai Xu in the right direction, but Bai Xu grabbed his wrist, scratched his feet, and suddenly Bai Duan hunched himself into a ball of laughter.

Seeing the two brothers make endless trouble again, Mama Bai laughed, shook her head, and was too lazy to take more care of it. After another warning, she turned around and left.

Seeing Mama Bai leave, Bai Xu’s brilliant smile suddenly receded, and he pulled Bai Duan back; he climbed under the bedsheets with one hand and pressed the other boy under his body.

Bai Duan who was yet to recover from their frolic found himself under Bai Xu’s control again, and quickly waved his hand in surrender, “Don’t play, don’t play, we need to eat!”

“Un, I won’t bother you anymore.” Bai Xu murmured back, silently kissed Bai Duan’s forehead, then gradually moved down, kissed all over his eyelids, the tip of his nose, cheeks, and finally stopped at the corner of his mouth.

Bai Duan also realized that Bai Xu was somewhat different from the past, he could not help the instinctive tightening of his body or his slowed breathing.

A moment later, Bai Xu breathed out softly, lifted his body, turned over, and sat aside. He waved to Bai Duan and said, “Go to dinner.”

“… Hmm.” Bai Duan sat up with red cheeks and wondered whether he breathed out a sigh of relief or disappointment. He gave Bai Xu a timid look, got out of bed with one hand and one foot, and ran to the kitchen.

Bai Xu looked at Bai Duan who had run away. He raised his hand and pressed down on his lower body, which had a slight reaction. He sighed softly, “It’s good to nurture him, but it’s harrowing. I’m going crazy with this suffocation.”

After a pause, he seemed to be listening to something. Then he snorted, “Of course, I will hold on to it. But it has nothing to do with the fact that my ‘lover’ is not a ‘lover.’ I just worry that he will be injured. Right now, little Duan does not remember anything. What if it leaves a psychological shadow? It will be me who will suffer.”

As he spoke, Bai Xu got out of bed and tidied up his messy clothes. “Well, you’re right. The waiting time is too long and hard. I should make full use of it and do something else to clear the obstacles ahead of time.” His expression calmed down, and he could hardly hide his worries. “I also wanted to find a chance to say something to him, but I couldn’t bear to open my mouth when I saw his carefree appearance… That’s the day that has to be brought closer… I know, I know, I’ll tell him.” Out of the room, Bai Xu ended the conversation somewhat irritably. “Now, shut up!”

Something unknown was as quiet as a chicken in an instant, “…”

  1.  In most countries, typical public school systems take in any and all students of the appropriate age living in a defined geographic area. Some countries (such as China and Japan), almost all private schools are elevator schools and they are typically costly and prestigious. Other schools that are not private require students to pass a rigid entrance examination at each transition. Schools in China also follow this grade level chart: Kindergarten, 1st to 6th grade (Elementary), 7th to 9th grade (Junior High/Middle), 10th to 12th grade (High). So Bai Duan and BX would be 12/13 years old here, meaning around 6 years have gone by since they met.

Ahhh, so cute, so fluffy, can’t wait for more! I’m very interested in this novel as it doesn’t look like a typical QT, also although Bai Xu was talking to “something” we can’t be sure it is a system for now. Thank you very much for translating this and happy holiday! ❤

I feel kinda bad. The fact that Mama and Papa Bai won’t be able to see their grandchildren was established when their son was very young. They might be able to accept it since they don’t seem against adoption if mama bai really didn’t get pregnant but I still feel bad since ml corrupted our mc at a very young age even though mc’s family helped him.

okay now I’m mad at myself for always tending to judge books by synopsis! hey! the synopsis of this story is good, it’s just that I don’t know what happened to my head so putting this book in “read later” is like… Damn! I would beat myself in the past if I could! For translators, THANK YOU!! AH ANYWAYS I LOVE THIS BOOK
