How do you feel about translators locking their translations? Do you think they are being over-sensitive? Do you think novels that have been locked should be completely removed from NU? Not just the chapters, but the entire novel?
Addis: I think they should be removed completely because I think locking the chapters is completely ridiculous.
Gaeatiamat: YES. So freaking irritating when you can’t even find the damn link to get to the locked translator website.
Caicaicat: Yes! Because like if it was locked with a link then maybe I could request and figure it if there is a way to still have access. But like it’s just like oh removed. But if it at least listed the groups who worked in it previously then I might have a chance to track it down.
I love novels and as a novice who doesn’t understand Chinese/Japanese, its rough for me when the novels I like are locked. I don’t even know the translatators who worked on them.
I think either remove them completely or unlock them. It’s absolutely right to protect your novels but I really dont understand the system of locking thsm.
Well I love reading novels so I’m really happy if I can access them. I’m really selfish.

Kinda wished the translators would at least leave 1 or 2 chapters unlocked so that they can be searched via NU. Having the whole thing wiped from NU and not being searchable at all makes it super pointless. Like why bother translating if you’re gonna hide it in some deep dank hole.
I agree. Especially if it happens midway through the novel. If it will be locked, then it should be removed from NU or have some kind of asterisk/signage saying it’s basically gone.
I assume locking means the chapter(s) can’t be read.

The effort & work have already been put in, so what effect does it have? Who benefits?
Why leave a novel on any site, when it can’t be read? That’s just irritating & upsetting to those who finally find it and then cannot read it!
It’s worst when the chapters are seen as being there, translated, but not accessable. So it should be removed altogether.
I can understand they want to protect their hard works to be copied and posted elsewhere as theirs and even get paid! But can’t you protect it without locking it? I don’t really understand what happened with K’s GDC translation, how 7 seas able to take her translation. After that, my friend said many novels are lock in NU. Honestly, it makes me lazy to even open NU anymore. So, recently I just stick to E&R. What’s more, many novels are not finished in NU without certainty of continuation.
I think should be removed because, there is no reason for being there when can’t be read
