  1. I agree with Addis that it should be tagged for mtl. For me, I’m really contented with translations and obviously I appreciate better translations. For mtl I think I would think twice because the pronouns/names are really confusing.
    If i can’t wait i would mtl using my browser’s auto-translate.

  2. +1 with addis.
i’m not fond of mtl. my english is not impeccable and i can’t read chinese. so i need at least a decent translation to enjoy the story.
tags are important 😤 or at least mention it in the summary as a warning.

  3. Yes, definitely. My first language is English, yet I struggle with what is often nonsensical gibberish, which ruins reading. I’ve dropped novels because if this and is another reason I only read Chinese novels on ERS.
Goodness knows how hard it would be for non-English speakers, that don’t have a high level of fluency, to get their heads around (no offence and I am not patronising).

  4. As far as I know, NU doesn’t receive unedited MTL (anymore). So, the MTLs you read there…are edited. If it’s bad, then it’s most likely because the one who edit it is not a native speaker. 😅

But, yes, edited MTL should be declared, so people know what to expect.

  5. Yes for sure. Im struggling through one novel rn that keeps referring to the MC as a girl, using she/hers every other paragraph. But I really want to know how the story goes so I’m trying to stick with it. I might not have started if I knew it was mtl like that.
