The next morning, Lan Yu woke up at the first sound of the wake-up call and tried to sit up, but Lu RanKong also woke up and said with a nasally voice, “We are on leave, go back to sleep.”

Oh, that’s right, just after finishing the task and returning to the military camp, there were still a few days of vacation left. There was no need to get up to mine or lead the soldiers for training. Lan Yu felt relieved, turned over and fell asleep again.

When Lan Yu woke up again, he touched his terminal and saw the time, it was after ten o’clock. He lifted the blanket and got up, rubbed his eyes and walked out of the bedroom, saw no one in the living room, but there was a small movement from the balcony.

“Awake?” Lu RanKong came in from the balcony in his sportswear. With the iron and tools in his hand, he walked up to Lan Yu, bent his head and kissed Lan Yu’s face, and said, “Go wash up first, there’s breakfast on the table from Kong Fei, eat it while it’s hot.”

“What are you doing?” Lan Yu asked.

Lu RanKong said, “Didn’t I promise you back at QuYa Planet that I would make you some holders for those flowers and plants?”

“Then make it look good.”

“Okay, they will look good.”

Lan Yu went to the bathroom to wash up, flattened the exploding mushroom hair, and then went to the table to eat breakfast.

Lu RanKong put down what he was holding, washed his hands and then came over and sat down across from him. He asked, “Are we going on another date today?”

Lan Yu was taking a bite of a dumpling and said, “I don’t want to walk anymore, so no more dates.”

“No walking, I’ll pick a good car and check it carefully before I leave so it won’t break down again.” Lu RanKong said.

“So what are we going to do on our date?”

“The fourth step is to watch the sunrise with my lover.” Lu RanKong said, “Of course we can skip this one, it’s almost noon and there’s no sunrise. If we skip the fourth step, it’s—”

The terminal suddenly rang, interrupting him. Lu RanKong looked at the number and looked at Lan Yu, “It’s Liu Deng…”

Major General Liu Deng? Why was he looking for Lu RanKong at this time?

“Mn, mn, okay, no problem, okay…” Lu RanKong spoke about the terminal with a solemn expression and a serious voice, Lan Yu stopped chewing and looked at him with some apprehension. After Lu RanKong finished talking about the terminal, he pointed to the plate with his chin and said, “Eat quickly, it’s getting cold.”

“What did Liu Deng say to you?” Lan Yu asked.

Lu RanKong leaned back in his chair, folded his hands behind his head, looked at Lan Yu and said, “We’re going on another mission.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Lan Yu’s terminal also rang.

Lu RanKong made a gesture to him, “Liu Deng…”

Lan Yu connected the terminal and Liu Deng’s voice came out.

“Colonel K, Guard Planet surveillance has found unknown creatures on Veya Planet, suspected to be interstellar beasts. I know you just finished the mission and came back. I originally only sent Chen YuTan and Lin Zhuand their two mecha battalions, but according to the information transmitted back, the number of interstellar beasts is quite a lot. I’m afraid that two battalions can’t cope with the amount, so you and Colonel Lu both have to go.”

Lan Yu didn’t make a sound.

“Do you have any objections to this mission, Colonel K?” asked Liu Den.

“No objections, I promise to complete the mission.” Lan Yu replied.

Liu Deng said, “Get ready and leave tomorrow.”

“As you command…”

Hanging up the terminal, Lu RanKong looked at his expression and said, “Don’t go if you don’t want to, it’s just a few interstellar beasts, I’ll go. You just rest in peace, I will naturally go and explain to Liu Deng.”

Lan Yu didn’t answer, just operated the terminal in his hand, looking through it.

Lu RanKong waited for a while and asked, “What are you looking for?”

“What was the planet? Veya Planet? Lan Yu asked.

“Yes, it’s a deserted planet.”

Lan Yu wondered, “Why is the military so nervous about an interstellar beast on a desert planet?”

Lu RanKong said, “The Sasu Planet system is the most marginal planet, next to the Lontan Planet system, and the interstellar channel opens on the planet, you should know this, right?”

“Of course…” Lan Yu replied.

“The interstellar channel on Planet Kaiju was opened half a year ago, and the military department closed the interstellar station on Planet Kaiju. The entire Planet was closed, cutting off Sasu’s path.”

Lan Yu suddenly said, “No wonder they are so nervous. They are afraid that something will happen to the leap station on Veya Planet.”

“Yes, even if only interstellar beasts appear, we can’t take it lightly, we have to go check it out.”

Lan Yu pondered for a moment and asked, “What’s the situation on Veya Planet?”

“It’s a planet covered by ice and snow. The average temperature is about minus 20 degrees, the absolute temperature can reach minus 80 degrees. The planet’s surface often has hurricanes, and the weather has been good in the past two days. If the wind is blowing now, the Star Warships will be unable to land.” Lu RanKong said.

“That’s cold…” Lan Yu mumbled.

Lu RanKong said, “Yeah, the ion gun’s handle will freeze your fingers off in your hand, so you shouldn’t go.” He leaned over and picked up Lan Yu’s hand, gently squeezing the smooth, long fingers and tsking, “Such nice hands, it would heartbreaking if you got frostbite.”

Lan Yu pulled his hand back and asked, “If I don’t go, are only three battalions going?”

“Three battalions are enough, in fact, one battalion from Brother Bao can take care of those interstellar beasts.” Lu RanKong carelessly said.

Lan Yu thought for a while, frowned and said, “No, I don’t feel comfortable about it. I want to follow you.”

“What’s to worry about? It’s freezing cold there, how can you stand it?” Lu RanKong also frowned, “Don’t worry, I can do this mission by myself.”

Lan Yu stood up, looked at him from above and said, “The more you say, the more worried I am.”

“Why?” Lu RanKong asked, stunned.

“You’re not taking this seriously.” Seeing that Lu RanKong was about to explain, Lan Yu interrupted him, “I do want to retire from the army and not go on missions, but before I retire, I will do what I have to do, and I will do it as well as I can.” He leaned down and propped his hands on the table, looked Lu RanKong straight in the eyes and said softly, “Besides, can I let you go alone and freeze? It’s a small task, let’s make it a date, how about that?”

Lu RanKong looked into his beautiful eyes and smiled, “Okay…”

“Move it left… Move it to the right… How do you shoot or fight when you can’t tell right from left?” Lan Yu sat on the balcony, holding a ball of wool, and commanded Lu RanKong, who had his hands stretched across the balcony.

Lu RanKong turned his hands stiffly and said, “I can tell the difference in a battle, but this is even harder than a battle.”

Lan Yu looked at him and smiled while wrapping a ball of wool. The sunlight spilling overhead tinted both rows of his eyelashes brown, and his eyes shone with a fine light.

Lu RanKong looked at this Lan Yu, his heart tickled again, and moved to give him a kiss, but Lan Yu put his fingers against his forehead and said, “Concentrate, we need to hurry up.” When Lu RanKong sat down, he kept moving, “I have to weave two grips and put them on the handle of the ion gun, so I don’t freeze my hands.”

“We don’t really need to, we’ll be wearing gloves.” Lu RanKong said.

“It’s better to put them on than freeze, right? Besides, if you think about it, it’s so cold that the handle of the gun may be frozen, and the gloves could stick to it, they might be torn.” Lan Yu said as he skillfully wrapped the thread.

Lu RanKong watched his movements and asked suspiciously, “Do you still know how to knit that?”

Lan Yu glanced at him and didn’t make a sound. Lan Yu squeezed his hand and said, “One ball of thread is two taels, which is enough to weave two gun grips.”

After that, he went under the bedside table and took out a small basket with two knitting needles of the right thickness. He continued to sit back in the sun on the balcony, and began to knit the gun handle covers under Lu RanKong’s shocked gaze.

Lu RanKong watched him skillfully start the needle and row the head, mumbling the number of stitches, both hands kept flipping, the silver needles cut the light in the sunlight, and couldn’t help but freeze his whole body.

“What are you staring for? Foolish idiot…” Lan Yu raised his eyes to look at him, his eyes narrowed slightly in pleasure. It had been a long time since he’d touched the knitting needles, and knitting wool was really comfortable and enjoyable.

Lu RanKong was shocked to see that he didn’t look at his hands at all, but his hands moved fluidly, and the needle poked into the woolen eye accurately every time.

“You’ve never seen people knitting wool?” Lan Yu saw his appearance and was a bit amused.

Lu RanKong shook his head and said honestly, “I haven’t seen it…”

Lan Yu asked, “Your family doesn’t knit either?”

“No…” His mother loved to play the piano and paint, but she didn’t know how to knit. All the servants in the house had ready-made clothes, and even if they needed something, they bought it from outside.

“Xiao Yu, you’re amazing.” Lu RanKong sighed in admiration very sincerely.

Lan Yu also pursed his lips proudly, “I’m not bad…”

Lu RanKong smiled, and at the same time, a sense of trance rose up.

It was a feeling of déjà vu that brought a dusty memory to mind.

*

“Xiao Yu, Xiao Yu.” Lu RanKong stepped on a wooden frame under his feet, lying on the wall of a small courtyard, and shouted towards the inside.

This courtyard was very dilapidated, the walls had  collapsed in places, and bricks had been filled haphazardly. The house was also very low, only two rooms, but all around were cleaned very neatly. In the courtyard there was an old man sitting in the sun, but his ears were bad at times and he often couldn’t hear. So Lu RanKong didn’t expect him to come to the door and shouted directly into the house.

“Little Fan…” Shu Yu pushed the door open and came out, his whole face lit up when he saw Lu RanKong on the wall.

“Open the door…” Lu RanKong said.

“Hmm…”

Shu Yu opened the door and let Lu RanKong in. Just as Lu RanKong stepped through the door, he took out two large apples from his arms and handed them to him, “Here…”

Shu Yu took the two apples and held them and smelled them, his good-looking nose wrinkled slightly while sniffing. He looked over to Lu RanKong, smiling with his eyes bent into lines, “It smells good…”

“They’re from my father. This kind of apple is only available in Pulok Planet, it’s delicious.”

Shu Yu took the apple into the house, and Lu RanKong went to the nearby ginkgo tree to greet  Shu Yu’s Grandpa, who was half lying underneath.

“Grandpa, grandpa!” He called out a few times, but the old man ignored him.

“He can’t hear sometimes.” Shu Yu came out with a plate of cut apples and handed it to Lu RanKong.

Lu RanKong reached out to take it, but he caught his hand and asked, “Did you wash your hands?”

“My hands are clean.” Lu RanKong rubbed his hands on his white T-shirt.

Shu Yu frowned and said, “No, go wash your hands or there will be a lot of bacteria and you will get a stomachache.”

“Then I won’t eat it.” Lu RanKong said.

It’s too much trouble to wash your hands.

Shu Yu picked up a piece and fed it to his mouth, saying, “Open your mouth…”

Lu RanKong took a bite of the apple into his mouth and said vaguely as he chewed, “Xiao Yu, you’re so nice.”

“How am I nice?” Shu Yu asked him, raising his face.

Lu RanKong thought about it and said, “Anyway, you’re nice…”

Shu Yu smiled, “You’re good, too, anyway.”

The two of them looked at each other and giggled.

Shu Yu brought the plate to the old man again, picked up a piece and called out, “Grandpa, eat an apple.”

Lu RanKong saw that the old man could magically hear again this time and opened his eyes instantly.

Shu Yu took a piece of apple and fed it into his mouth. The old man nodded as he chewed and said vaguely, “Sweet…”

“Eat two more if you like.” Shu Yu said.

Lu RanKong took advantage of the apples while the old man and his grandson were eating them and rummaged around in his pocket.

Shu Yu turned his head and saw it so he asked, “What are you looking for?”

Lu RanKong didn’t say anything, but wrinkled his brow and started digging into his shorts pockets. He pulled out a pitch-black object from his trouser pocket with a sense of relief, “Oh, here it is.”

“I made a unicorn for you.” He said.

The unicorn was made of wire, with hooves flying and a single horn on top of its head.

Shu Yu put down his plate and came over, carefully taking the unicorn and looking at it with surprise on his face, saying, “It’s so beautiful, this little horse.”

Lu RanKong scratched his head and corrected, “This is a unicorn…”

“One-horned pony…”

“No pony, it’s a unicorn.”

“A pony beast with a unicorn horn.” Shu Yu said stubbornly.

Lu RanKong said helplessly, “Okay, this is a pony, a pony beast.”

Shu Yu took the pony beast and looked at it over and over, and said with infinite admiration, “Little Fan, you are really amazing.”

Lu RanKong shoved his hands into his shorts pockets and padded his front feet, saying lightly, “I’m only so-so…”

But the smugness in his eyes couldn’t be suppressed.

Shu Yu’s eyes slid over his shorts, surprised, “How did your pants rip?”

Lu RanKong looked down and saw a small hole in the pocket of his pants, and he could vaguely see his fingertips. He said, “It’s okay, if it’s torn, it’s torn.”

Shu Yu said, “I think it was the pony animal’s horn. That’s not good, it has to be mended.”

Lu RanKong wanted to say he had plenty of pants, but when he saw Shu Yu’s washed-out yellow T-shirt, he said, “I’ll have Joshua fix it for me when I get home.”

“Who’s Joshua?”

“He’s a servant in my house.” Lu RanKong said.

Shu Yu asked curiously, “Do you have servants at home?”

Lu RanKong nodded.

“What do the servants usually do?”

Lu RanKong thought for a moment and said, “They cook and clean the house and do the laundry.”

Shu Yu nodded his head, “Then I am grandpa’s servant.” He asked again, “Besides that? Is there any other work a servant does?”

Lu RanKong racked his brain, “They are nice to the master, very attentive, and want to make the master happy.”

Shu Yu suddenly said, “Then you are also my servant.”

Lu RanKong felt that something was wrong with that, but seeing Shu Yu’s happy face, he nodded his head and affirmed, “Mn, I am also your servant.”

“Then, servant, go to the house and take off your pants, so I can fix that hole for you.” Shu Yu squatted down and approached the small hole to examine it.

Lu RanKong just about to agree, but suddenly remembered that this morning he crawled out of bed naked, and didn’t put on any underwear, directly wore his shorts, and was wearing nothing underneath.

He used his fingertips to block the torn hole and said as he squirmed, “Forget it, no more mending, it’s fine.”

Shu Yu thought he was too lazy to move, so he said, “Take it off, I’ll fix it for you. It’ll be quick, just a few minutes.”

Lu RanKong insisted in silence.

“He’s not wearing underwear. If you make him take them off, he’ll be a bare-assed egg.” Shu Yu’s grandfather suddenly said loudly and clearly.

Shu Yu heard it and asked in surprise, “Really? Nothing?”

Lu RanKong turned his head away and didn’t say anything, his ears slightly reddened, feeling a little embarrassed.

“Hahahaha…” Shu Yu’s grandfather opened his mouth with few teeth left and laughed especially happily.

Lu RanKong stole a glance at Shu Yu and thought, Why is this old man so annoying?

Shu Yu came over to him and led him to one of the rooms, saying, “It’s okay, just get under my blanket and cover up, I’ll fix that hole for you, or someone will see your butt on the way home.

Lu RanKong thought to himself, the butt couldn’t be seen, since it was in the back, only his small peepee may be seen, but he didn’t have the heart to say this sentence.

He knew Shu Yu was an Omega, and knew there were things Alphas couldn’t say to an Omega, and it was very bad.

This room was very small and dim, only a small window opened on the side. A cloth curtain in the middle divides the small room into two halves, and a small bed was placed on each side.

Shu Yu took Lu RanKong to the inner bed and said, “Take off your clothes on my bed and cover yourself with the blanket when you’re done, so grandpa can’t see and won’t laugh at you.”

After saying that, he stood there without moving and waited in place.

Lu RanKong lifting his pants also didn’t move.

“Take them off…” Shu Yu urged.

Lu RanKong said, “You can’t laugh at me either.”

Shu Yu said seriously, “It’s okay, I won’t tell anyone, and I won’t laugh at you.”

“That’s not okay either, an Alpha can’t show an Omega their things.” Lu RanKong said.

“Not even if we’re very close?” Shu Yu asked, a little shocked.

“Not even then…”

“Not even if you’re my servant?”

“No…”

Shu Yu thought about it and said, “Okay then, I’ll go find a needle and thread basket, and you can take it off here alone.”

After saying that, he withdrew and thoughtfully pulled the curtain closed.

Lu RanKong now began to take off his shorts, and then darted into the quilt, which didn’t even have a single wrinkle, and shouted, “I’m done, you can come in.”

Swish!

Shu Yu pulled open the curtain and came in with a small bamboo basket.

Lu RanKong handed him the pants with a little embarrassment and said, “Take a look…”

Shu Yu took the pants, went to the bed and sat down, looked at the hole carefully and said, “This is a good one to mend…”

Then he quickly threaded the needle and sewed it up carefully.

Lu RanKong grabbed the corner of the quilt and started to turn his head to look around the room. Strictly speaking, it was to survey this corner behind the curtain.

The walls were yellow, but there wasn’t a speck of cobweb or dust in any of the corners. Across from the bed was a cabinet with a mottled finish and a particularly antique style. The cabinet door was fitted with transparent glass, and he could see several small round jars inside, the kind of jars left over from eating empty candies. Next to them were several bottles of medicine, large and small, neatly arranged.

He turned back around and his eyes fell on the quilt in front of him. The quilt was a plain blue color, and white like Shu Yu’s clothes, but it smelled good. He couldn’t resist lowering his head and sniffing on the quilt.

“What are you doing?” Shu Yu asked curiously.

Lu RanKong simply buried his face in the blanket and said in a jarring voice, “Your blanket smells good…”

“Does it smell good? I don’t think so.” Shu Yu said.

“Really, it smells good.” Lu RanKong shrugged his nose.

Shu Yu couldn’t help but put down his half mended pants and bamboo basket, kneeled on the bed, and buried his face in the blanket to smell like Lu RanKong.

“I can’t smell it…” He said.

“Yes, it smells, it’s so obvious.”

The two of them just lay on the covers and sniffed until Shu Yu’s eyes flicked over to Lu RanKong and widened at once before pointing at him and laughing, “Little Fan, your butt is showing, hahaha.”

Lu RanKong was sniffing the quilt with an intoxicated face, when he heard this, he sat up straight and pulled the quilt upward desperately, wrapping himself tightly.

Shu Yu laughed back and forth, and said under his breath that he saw his little peepee.

“Little Yu, what’s this nonsense? Quickly sew the pants for that bare-assed egg so he can put them back on.” The old voice of Shu Yu’s grandfather came from the courtyard.

Shu Yu covered his mouth, but his eyes were still bent into a line.

“Does your grandfather hear you or not?” Lu RanKong couldn’t help but ask.

Shu Yu dropped his hand and said, “I don’t know…”

“You don’t know?”

“Sometimes he can hear, sometimes can’t.” Shu Yu thought about it, smiled again and said, “He can hear when he wants to hear, but not when he doesn’t want to hear.”

Shu Yu turned around to continue sewing his pants, and Lu RanKong stared intently at his hands. Seeing that his hand seems to have some magical power, holding the needle and thread to fly up and down, the hole in the pants became smaller and smaller, and was finally invisible.

Lu RanKong, like Shu Yu when he started to see the pony beast, said with infinite admiration, “Xiao Yu, you’re amazing.”

Shu Yu also proudly pursed his lips, “I’m only so-so…”

*

The memory of the child and the Lan Yu in front of him gradually overlapped, Lu RanKong was surprised to find that the eyebrows and eyes of the two were so similar. He even felt that when Shu Yu grew up, he might be like Lan Yu.

If that particular event hadn’t happened.

Ok here’s my theory:

Shu Yu had an accident, which Lu RanKong is hinting at. And when the accident happened, his soul transmigrated into the initial world and transmigrated back and K’s body is his OG body?

A friendly reminder is that he had amnesia when the police found him in the original world before he was sent to the orphanage.

Why do I get the feeling that Lan Yu experienced something similar to what wu jin went through(Surprise! The Supposed Talent Show Was Actually–?!) and his memories are somehow distorted. What if Lu RangKong believed Shu Yu died because of the event that he mentioned, but he somehow survived. Then a lantian person took over his body, and in order to protect his soul he made that imaginary world where he was an actor, yet his memories were forgotten. Later on, somehow he was able to regain control

I HAVE A GUESS!!!! What if our protagonist’s body was taken over by that green slime that can control people??? And K was cruel to people because he hated them, because, because of them his people almost disappeared … although they themselves are to blame for these troubles. And now, our protagonist somehow he got his body back???🤔
