Nan HuaiLin quickly calmed down, and began his performance. He bent down and rubbed Hannibal’s ugly, ugly bull face, as he smiled and said, “It’s been a long time, and you still remember me? I’m really touched.”

Hannibal stuck out his tongue to lick his hand. Fei Cheng watched them with a confused look. “What the hell is going on here? How can my brother’s dog know you?”

Nan HuaiLin changed his shoes, and walked into the living room. “It’s a long story. Let me have a drink of water first. I’m dying of thirst.”

Nan HuaiLin breathed a sigh of relief, and went straight to the dining room. He opened the refrigerator, got a bottle of mineral water, then asked in a loud voice, “Do you want something to drink?”

Fei Cheng replied, “Coke!”

Back in the living room, Nan HuaiLin threw the Coke to Fei Cheng, sat next to him and drank two sips of water. Then he said, “Back when we first met, I offended He DingHong because of something. I was going to terminate Ming Xi’s contract. Both because I had no scenes to shoot, and I was short of money. Assistant Ruan was so nice that he gave me a trial period as a housekeeper.”

Fei Cheng was surprised. “So…You worked at my brother’s house as a housekeeper?”

Nan HuaiLin nodded. “But only for four days. Because there was another opportunity to act, I quit my job as a housekeeper.”

Fei Cheng felt a few faint, strange feelings in his heart; vague and indistinct. He couldn’t quite grasp or understand them, and made him a little uncomfortable.

“How come I’ve never heard you mention it before?” Fei Cheng asked.

“I had nothing to tell you about it,” Nan HuaiLin said with a smile. “It was just a small thing that wasn’t worth mentioning.”

Fei Cheng took a sip of his Coke, looked at him and said, “Did you meet my brother during the days you were working as a housekeeper?”

“No.” Nan HuaiLin’s heart was pounding, but his face didn’t change. “Assistant Ruan said that Mr. Fei didn’t like to see outsiders at home, so I always went there after Mr. Fei went to work and left before he returned.”

He paused and added, “I’ve been in Ming Xi for so long, but I haven’t seen Mr. Fei once, so I’m curious about what he looks like. Show me.”

“Not as handsome as me. No need to look.” Fei Cheng put down the Coke. “I have to go back to the office. Do you have something to do this afternoon?”

It seemed he’d successfully fooled him about the past. Nan HauiLIn’s anxious heart slowly calmed down.

Nan HuaiLin nodded, “Yes.”

Fei Cheng gave him a questioning look, but Nan HuaiLin didn’t intend to say more, just drank his water.

“Okay.” Fei Cheng sighed, stood up and walked out. “I’m leaving.”

Nan HuaiLin followed him to the entrance, and watched him change his shoes. “Come back early after work.”

“Yeah.” Fei Cheng didn’t want to go to work at all. He just wanted to be with Nan HuaiLin now. However, that person didn’t understand anything, so he had to go and be bored to death.

After Fei Cheng left, Nan HuaiLin breathed a huge sigh of relief. He rubbed Hannibal’s head and said, “You almost killed me. Why do you have such a good memory, huh?”

Hannibal grunted and barked twice, as he pouted.

Nan HuaiLin laughed. “But I’m still happy to see you again, Mr. Hannibal.”

After playing with Hannibal for a while, Nan HuaiLin went to take a shower, then changed into comfortable clothes, and wandered around the house. He found that it was clean, and appeared to have been cleaned regularly. Fei Cheng really didn’t look like someone who could clean, so he probably hired a housekeeper. That meant there was no reason for him to stay here anymore.

Nan HuaiLin did some calculations. Then he transferred 50,000 yuan to the card that Fei Cheng had given him, then took the card and put it in the drawer under the TV stand.

After he sat on the sofa for a while, he picked up his cell phone and called Man Tianzhu. “Sister Zhu, please help me rent an apartment.”

Man Tianzhu asked, “You’re moving out of the Dong Fang Mansion?”

“Mn,” Nan HuaiLin said. “Not too far from the company, preferably a one-bedroom, rent within six thousand, nothing else is required.”

“Okay,” said Man Tianzhu. “Is there any hurry?”

“No hurry,” Nan HuaiLin said. “Just rent it within a week.”

“No problem.” Man Tianzhu said. “By the way, I just went to the company to meet with Sister Shan, she gave me the script for Chasing New Dreams, should I bring it over for you now?”

“Okay.” Nan HuaiLin’s heart beat faster when he heard the word script. “Please do it.”

After he hung up the phone, Nan HuaiLin sent the specific door number to Man Tianzhu, and then downloaded a Yong Hui supermarket app to buy meat, vegetables and fruits. Beijing was hotter than Hengdian. He really didn’t want to go out and be exposed to the sun.

The delivery man and Man Tianzhu arrived around the same time, so there were three large plastic bags piled up at the door. Man Tianzhu staggered as she came in. “Why did you buy so much? You want to have a full banquet?”

Nan HuaiLin said with a smile. “The refrigerator is empty. I want to fill it up.”

Man Tianzhu helped him carry the stuff inside. But just after she entered the door, she saw Hannibal, screamed in fear and hid behind Nan HuaiLin.

Nan HuaiLin remembered that he’d had almost the same reaction when he first saw Hannibal, and laughed. “Don’t be afraid. He looks mean, but he’s actually very cute.”

Man Tianzhu avoided Hannibal, then followed Nan HuaiLin into the dining room, and helped him put things into different categories in the refrigerator. Finally they took some snacks back to the living room.

Man Tianzhu took out a pile of scripts from her backpack, and handed them to him. “Here.”

Nan HuaiLin took it and glanced at the cover. “Swimming Beyond My Life? Did they change the name?”

Man Tianzhu hmmed. “They said that Chasing New Dreams was too common, and couldn’t highlight the theme, so it was changed.”

Nan HuaiLin nodded. “Swimming Beyond My Life is better.”

Man Tianzhu said while she ate, “Sister Shan said that because it is a web drama and the main actors are all new, the launch and other procedures will be omitted. You’d start directly on the 12th.”

Nan HuaiLin nodded. “That’s good.”

After the opening ceremony of Star Country, he lost interest in those formalities.

Man Tianzhu added, “The other actors have been training for swimming for more than half a month, so you have to join them starting tomorrow.”

Nan HuaiLin said, “Okay.”

He had heard about the swimming training from He DuanYang. Although he missed half a month because of filming, he was the main member of his swim team in high school, and had the foundation, so he wasn’t worried.

After they finished eating, what needed to be said was also done.

Man TianZhu wanted to leave. She asked Nan HuaiLin to escort her out, very afraid that Hannibal would bite her.

After Man Tianzhu left, Nan HuaiLin looked at the time, and saw that it wasn’t yet four o’clock. There was still time before Fei Cheng got off work, so he nestled in the sofa and read the script.

After turning two pages, he heard the doorbell ring and got up to open the door.

When he opened the door and saw the person who was standing outside, Nan HuaiLin paused. “Why are you ringing the doorbell? Why don’t you just enter the password and come in?”

Fei Cheng smiled and said, “I just want you to open the door for me.”

Nan HuaiLin didn’t understand his mentality. He moved to let him in. “You’re not? You’re off work, right?”

Fei Cheng nodded. “Yes.”

Nan HuaiLin, “…”

This is, this is too early, right?

He hasn’t even started preparing for his surprise yet!

Well done Little Lin! Truth told but neatly avoided saying “and I’m pretty sure I slept with your brother”. I can’t see Fei Cheng letting you leave the flat. I think something will prevent that. 🤭

Thank you for this story I’m enjoying it a lot

I’m ready for the heartache when FC discovers he’s moving out!! I know FC won’t have a good reaction but I also hope it doesn’t go too far into the bad territory of hostile possessiveness. 😬
